Belgiansaint Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 (edited) Just a consideration after reading all the very interesting (though depressing) administration / football disaster etc. posts. Non-plastic Man U fans did it, Liverpool fans did it and others fans did it with reasonable success and, most of all, enjoyment and pride. Albeit for different reasons, why not set up a totally new structure? A real footy club, even at the lowest (no pun intended) level? Even from abroad, if it means starting afresh with a truly Southampton side, I'd be more than happy to put my hand in my pocket (no sugar daddy before anyone comes up with that! lol). Imagine a club we all can unite for, red & white stripes to be proud of for ourselves, OUR Saints. The pride of Southampton. Nexstar Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 Yes but liverpool and man utd had thousands of fans involved as they were sick of the amount of money that was being pumped into their game. We don't have A) thousands of fans that would support this, or B) Alot of money being pumped into our game Good luck
Fan The Flames Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 AFC Southampton. It would just result in two small clubs. I would be up for it though if Lowe bought us after admin.

Alain Perrin Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 I think it'll be a great idea. We could get rid of all the miserable *****, plus it would be hilarious hearing the Solent FC fans argue about team selections. ("He's no better than a Sunday league player! Oh, hang on, we ARE Sunday league!")

We don't have A) thousands of fans that would support this, or B) Alot of money being pumped into our game Good luck Don't you think Saints fans are sick and tired of all the bickering / open warfare taking place among board members and what's more important, among fans? The fan base is real, it's there home and abroad. You don't have to think big, you have to think about not being a plc, you have to think about enjoying yourself watching a football team, albeit a small one, but one that's yours to care about and one that deserves getting involved with at your own small level. Whitey Grandad Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 It would be cheaper to find some clapped-out failed club that's on its last legs and buy it for tuppence just before it folded. Now if only we could find one....

It may surprise you to hear but i DO enjoy watching saints, crap board, no money and a half-empty ground don't change much for me to be honest. lordswoodsaints Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 getting saints fans to do anything is like flogging a dead horse......just ask the saints trust boys. nice idea but fantasy im afraid, you are not just supporting a team you are supporting a team that your dad and grandad supported, you are supporting the history and the lifetime memories of supporting your team, you acquire a passion that you pass on to your kids and they will be supporting long after you have gone and that will never change. South City Si Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Didn't their used to be a club called Road Sea Southampton ? That's the Staplewood ground that Saints bought when they folded! Anyways, if Saints did fold or if I finally had enough I would just support Eastleigh, as they are my second team it wouldn't be a choice.

Fan The Flames Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Wimbledon did it as last resort. Their club had been moved and lost all soul, history, everything. No doubting now that MK Dons are a new club and AFC Wimbledon are the one with the history. Which of them won the FA Cup in 1988? Technically MK Dons, but that's not the way I see it. Saints aren't near that stage. We'll continue to exist and we'll continue to be in Southampton, without big money and not in the top league. So why start again and erase nearly 125 years of history. Although if it leads to us being so **** that I can get a game I'm all for it. Technically, but even the clubs don't see it that way anymore, MK Dons gave up the silverware, although not to AFC but to Merton Council. Only a matter of time before its in the throphy cabinet at AFC.

We don't have A) thousands of fans that would support this, or B) Alot of money being pumped into our game Good luck Totally agree with you, this club has a core set of about 15,000 fans (mainly the fans that filled the Dell every week), the rest of these so called "fans" came to watch premier league football every week and now can be found supporting Pompey. As previously mentioned, United and Liverpools splinter sides have only been successful due to the sheer amount of fans they have, and the large proportion of those fans willing to kick up a fuss. As much as i would like to see this club materialise the money and the support are just not there.
