All Dutch people of his age speak English. We spend a lot of time in Belgium and even the women on the supermarket check-outs speak good English - it puts us to shame.

They get all our television channels with sub-titles, not dubbed, so they are used to all our colloquial speech.

Ditto Jackie. You obviously go to Flanders, but what you say is equally true of the Dutch in The Netherlands right down to Limberg. Not sure which part Saeijs is from but I'd be very surprised if he did not grow up speaking English alongside his native language.

Can saeis speak english & even more important speak teen or will cp/kd have to translate?

LOL, all Dutch people speak English, usually far better than English people. You want to try living there and learning their language, no chance. The only exception I have ever found is Jan Poortvliet, he only speaks twaddle, usually after the match.

Lol, we had 3 lads over for a show from the Comedy store in London last night. There was a REALLY p*ssed Dutch bloke in the front row... kept falling asleep, waking up, shouting something like - why you bicycle not parked - then falling asleep again

Completely random statements instead of the normal heckling, was the funniest thing we'd seen in ages, even the first comedian was in tears of laughter on the stage

Then realised it actually was like listening to the comments of a certain Dutch person we already have...

A taxi driver mate of mine picked Poortvliet up from Heathrow this morning 09:00, Terminal 3 , Flight EA003, Emirates from Dubai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought he was winding me up, cos couldn't believe he would be out of the country the night before a big game.

Maybe he'd been out to meet our new Middle Eastern investors :D

JP's English makes me ashamed as a Dutch person. But he's from a older generation so perhaps that's why his English isn't that good. I expect Saeijs' English to be pretty good although perhaps with some weird sentence constructions and the Dutch-English accent (it always makes me cringe if I hear it).

I love the Dutch accent - I think it's very sexy

I think there's many things to feel ashamed of regards Jan;) but have to say his command of the English languae isn't one of them!!!!

Of course he gets the odd word wrong (make a goal rather get a goal, and the like) but overall I think his English isn't that bad. Sometimes I struggle to work out exactly what he means, but I don't think you should be ashamed because of it!

OK all right well spotted, he was here having talks with David Beckham who was here with AC Milan and was alleged to be struggling for match fitness and as Rupe's saw the photo of Becks with the tattoos and thought they could do a loan deal to get him fit for his loan deal sort of thing.

But yes interesting I know it was cold over in UK and people may want to get some rays but....

Them overnight Emirates flights out of here are a sod to get any decent sleep on and then straight up to Barnsley from London by taxi?? surely he wouldn't have gone back to Southampton for a trip up there that kicks off at 3pm

I'm sure he had to discuss team selection with Lowe so maybe that why he would have gone to Southampton first. ;)
