Tamesaint Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 There was quite a demonstration after the game outside the main entrance. Others were taking photos / videos so there may be more on You tube. There must have been at least a couple of hundred protesters - although the club then proceeded to position every steward in the ground in front of the entrance . This club gets more like pre Glasnost Russia every day!! For me the saddest point of the demonstration came when the "Luntic Fringe" turned to the statue and chanted "there's only one Ted Bates." The demonstrators are true Saints supporters ... and Ted Bates must be turning in his grave looking at the current state of the club.
Mole Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 I saw a load making their way to reception after the game. I wish i'd gone with them now.
alpine_saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Hmmm. Those fans - please be careful. I think Lowe would jump at the "health and safety" excuse to remove that statue. I would suggest the ringleaders try to avoid using the statue as standard to rally behind.

Reckon there was a few more maybe 300 or so. Pretty reasonable, those inside then closed all the blinds. Can't blame club for getting stewards in the area, only takes a couple of idiots to throw something, and it maybe intimidating for people leaving (not the board!) Only thing is pretty sure Lowe wasn't there. Sad day.

Alpine i was at those protests after the game, and there was a lot of hate filled songs being sung to our C.E.O. but the fans also sang SOUTHAMPTON TILL I DIE, and there's only one Ted Bates the statue was fine, although i could see the cherry faced **** using the statue as a stick to beat us with. This is my fear. It took ages (and a second attempt) to get that statue up. It must already irk Lowe that it is a permanent "Crouchie was 'ere" notice (seeing as he paid for it), so dont give him an excuse.
Wes Tender Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 I saw the result at 8am this morning (1am GMT) and was devastated that we have sunk so low that we can't even beat Doncaster Rovers at home. However, this thread is encouraging, as it is the first sign of an actual demonstration manifesting itself. I hope that the board look at that painting of the steam engine that was donated to us by Doncaster and are reminded that it hangs in the boardroom instead of the painting that records the finest hour in the club's history. I hope that it also reminds them conversely of possibly our lowest point so far in our history. I look forward to this demonstration being the catalyst for the actions which will see the current board members leave the club forever. If the protest were to take the form of the mass boycott which would expedite the quickest results, we could be shot of the bastards within a month. On this board and with The Echos help we could do a proper demonstration!

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 By the time we play our next home game vs Swansea on the 31st, we could have lost to Norwich and could easily find ourselves starting to be cast adrift of the rest. A planned demonstration before and after the game should be organised.
Saint_clark Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Where exactly are the Saints Trust? When we ACTUALLY need them as a focus point for the entire fan base, they aren't anywhere to be seen!
1965onwards Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 I have a feeling Lowe may never attend another game at SMS,yesterday was just a taster of what is to come,it was only a matter of time before things kicked off.

When we ACTUALLY need them as a focus point for the entire fan base, they aren't anywhere to be seen! Isn't Illingsworth a part of this "Saints Trust". Not that i particulaly agree with all his views...... http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=17384 http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=17385 Edited 18 January, 2009 by saint lard

Someone should post the link to this on 606, thisishampshire etc to get as many people involved with the demonstration as possible. I'd do it myself, but I haven't got an account with either and am leaving for work in a mo.
Mr saint Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Here is my Facebook video of the protest Blimey, I somehow managed to complete miss all of that! Hopefully, we can have that sort of reaction (and bigger) after every game win, lose or draw until he goes. SimonRichards Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Or for the stay away fans and the fans who are intending on boycotting the match/matches. Maybe a Demo outside the front during the match?

pele Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 The Club died yesterday! I kept hanging on and hanging on thinking it can only get better. Went to the game and thought optimistically we would win quite easily. Lowe you have destroyed Southampton FC, the first time in nigh on 30 years plus of supporting Saints went home early. It now hurts - my son who I have indoctrinated well over the years cannot understand it 5 years ago we were in the FA Cup Final now what staring extinction in the face PLEASE GO MR LOWE you are destroying this great football club.
