Would sacking Jan achieve anything?

Hear me out . . .

If Lowe decided to sack Poortvliet, the chances are he'd appoint the new man from within. Either that or we'd end up with someone with little experience with an unproven track record.

The chances of Lowe admitting he's wrong and appointing someone like Ince, Boothroyd or even Dowie is very slim, and so it begs the question, would we REALLY be any better off if Poortvliet went? The first thing we need to sack is the board, then we can start re-building our club.

Probably not, no, all our efforts and resources show aimed at the removal of this joke board.

We need to sack both but one is more of a long-term objective than the other. They aren't mutually exclusive.

I fully accept the next appointment is likely to be no better given Lowe's propensity for making appalling decisions and being inept, however I would estimate our chances of staying up at about 5% at the moment so, in my opinion, it is a small gamble and worth taking.

I'd say after today (And actually before) they are now. Lowe couldn't admit he got it wrong and has convinced the board to stick with it. When this ultimatley goes tits up (Which it will) lowe won't have any where to hide. The fans, the staff, the players, the directors, Mike Wilde and other shareholders know that this was of lowes and lowes alone making. Actually i expect him to resign when we are relegated, but not necessarily out of honour, more out of losing support of the rest of the shareholders.

Whilst Jan will be remembered for taking us down, he will also be remembered as the man that got rid of Lowe for good.

I truly believe the end is near for lowe.

BOTH must go. JP and his DoF Lowe.

No - JP does not HAVE to be sacked - not if you want the club to carry on its current sure fire course to relegation and then possible administration. Look first things first - sort out the team (who are good players being taught bad habits) with a proper inspired manager (Dowie) who has a Saints affinity (Dowie). Then concentrate on getting rid of Lowe and Wilde.

The other option is leave alone and utilise JP to put Saints into admin via relegation, thus ridding the club of Lowe and Wilde. The club might be closed down completely, but I do not think that will ultimately happen.

I cannot believe Dowie is being touted as a possible replacment. How many jobs has he had in last 3 years..... what exactly has he done? Christ almighty lol

If we get rid of JP now I can just see us having another 3 manager season... resulting again in relegation.

Like it or not we have to stick with JP

like others have said its a no win situation get somone else in and they would have no time to implement their ideas on the squad, as we need to get results immediately. and if we stick with JP we're down. Basically were fooked either way

IMO the board issues are too big to be resolved in the sort of timeframe that we need to act in order to avoid relegation. Replacing a manager can be done in 24 hours if necessary and I would support it immediately provided the new appointment was external and had experience of creating winning teams in this division. Dowie, Boothroyd and Pardew are all available and have that record. We could easily be better off if we replaced JP. He clearly can't instill the sort of organisation and confidence in this set of players to be a competitive team for any more than the occasional game, usually away from home. Anyone who can achieve that would be better.

I don't agree with the theory that Lowe has too big an ego to go back on his Dutch experiment. He knows that staying in this division is of paramount importance to the club and I don't believe he would simply sit back and let relegation happen given his previous record of acting when managers are screwing up.

As of today we need to be putting pressure on the board to replace JP as he's obviously not up to the job. The focus on changing the board can wait until we are secure in this division.
