Lots of goals for Saints this season

When they last played in the Championship, both Arma and Che scored a hatful. In theory they are both stronger, fitter, more experienced etc. So, do you think that they are both 20+ or even 30+ goals a season strikers in the Championship?

A limiting factor for both of them last year was the lack of chances that we created for them, albeit Che's chance conversion rate wasn't great. Do we think this new way of playing will result in more chances?

Overall, do we think that these two have the goals in them that we need to get promoted?

No evidence yet that Mara is really in the mix to start.

Tall Paul lacks the mobility to make an impact at Championship level I suspect and I can't see him being the answer, but not since Ricky and Pelle have we had a CF who you thought would win a contested header in the box. So maybe that's where we are lacking? It's notable that both Tella and Edozie are pulling it back along the ground, as did JWP for Che's winner. Then again, what would a forward with 'it all' cost, and why on earth would he sign for Saints...

I don't think we'll create anwhere near enough for them to flurish. A lot of the ball, but lack of real chances.

I think we'll see a lot of tight games this season.

I think Che would score 20+ goals in this league but won't because he'll be leaving.

I think Armstrong would struggle to replicate his one great season because teams will sit back against us, which won't suit his game. I do think he would get 15+ if he played the whole season up front but I don't think he'll get that chance

He can do a job last 15 if we are needed a goal and they are sitting deep. I suspect this scenario may crop up a bit this season.

I was hopeful of this at the weekend… Then watched him close up at Gillingham. I am staggered that we paid the money that we did for him. He was 2nd best to League 2 defenders on every occasion.

Exactly this. We are pinning hopes currently on Alcarez to score our goals…maybe Stu A…Arma may get a couple. Tella will score if he stays with us. Fact is there are not too many players in the squad skilled enough to play and score a lot of goals in the system employed. Man City on a tight budget…budget level goal tally.

Again he is thrown in with little time in a team performing crap. I realise he isn't the best striker out there but not really a fair go again.

Personally I think Adams and Armstrong are hopeless and we should unload them both as soon as we can get in probably three consistent goal scoring strikers with the season's transfer total probably approaching £200m from Orsic, CC, Salisu, Liveramento, JWP, Lavia, Bella-Kotchap, Adams, Armstrong, Sulemana (possibly), maybe a few others. Spend the money wisely and we could have a team good for a few years.

In theory we have loads of goals in the team. Che, Armstrong, Tella have all done it at this level. Stu, Alcaraz should chip in with a decent amount too.

However, we just wont create the clear cut chances required.

Previously in this league we had Lambert, Sharp, Barnard, Guly and Connonlly. We created so much for them, and their conversion rate was decent. They'd score the half chances too. Far better than we have now.
