OldNick Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Went and watched Bournemouth-Luton last night. In with the Luton fans (who were very good). Jake Thompson was very average to poor and was taken off with 20 minutes to go. If yesterdays performance was anything to go by he is not going to make it. We complain about the quality of our football but it was awful there last night. The Bournemouth fans were very poor, but didnt cheer(a few did) when our result at half time was announced. ottery st mary Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 To P or not to P that is the question Thomson or something like that ....A great player who will come back better and stronger...Oh! yeah and fitter. One day him and McGlaggon (wonder what his correct spelling is) on either side of Patterson... and Lallana in the hole whatever next. Good days to come. OldNick Posted 28 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Lucky proper scouts and coaches don't judge everything on one game then. Seen him several times play very well, and I believe he had an excellent game for Bournemouth on Saturday.I wasnt there as a scout but giving feedback to his performance on the day.He was up against the best defender on the pitch. The rest of the Luton defence was very weak.He stl shoulod shine and as a fan who wants to young players to do well was disappointed on the night.Yes it was only 1 game I also saw him play for us in a few games, I will watch his progress. Castro Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 I went last night too, as I now live in 'Cherry Land'. According to a couple of my Bmth mates who I sat with, they thought Jake Thompson played realy well on Saturday but you do have to remember that this is Division 2 football and he probably stands out from the rest of them (apart from last night!). I did like their song when they finally got a decision from Steve Bennett . 'It's a mir_ a _cle, its a miricle' sung to the tune of 'where's your mother gone' The overall quality was terrible and as for Lutons centre half he had to be plucked from a pub teams reserve side. The player who impressed me, was the Luton left back (apparently he is normally the right back) who only small moved to centre half and was good on the ball and intelligent.Reminded me of Paul Parker
Castro Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Have to agree about the fans. Bmth fans appeared to be split into two groups (one in middle and one on side at the Bmth end) who by all accounts don't like each other, so were singing different songs at the same time! Must admit I could not hear the Luton fans (as I was sat in the Bmth end) but could see lots of clapping. Also I can't remember either keeper having to make a save. Thats irrelevant round here, if your not the finished article at 17 then your not good enough to be an international mega star so ship out cause only galacticos are allowed in our mighty team. david in sweden Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Let's not forget that Thomson is still only 19. ............and certainly not used to playing league football (at whatever level) .....twice in a period of three days. All very well but I would expect a player of 19 to at least show something of quality in a league 2 below the one you are hoping to play in.It may just have been one of those nights, but for me I was disappointe as i would have loved to have reported better news

As I say i hope it was just a bad day at the office for him, because I wish him to be a good player.
team-saint Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 For those who havent seen Jake's goal from saturday, it was basically a bad cross which lobbed the keeper. So it was a fluke really.

Chez Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Don't forget he scored at the weekend, might of been an off day perhaps he was even worse at the weekend. Just because you scored a goal it doesn't mean you played well. Can anyone enlighten us as to his actual performance on Saturday? At that level he should shine even if he is only 19. The only light in the Luton defence.Kevin Nichols in midfield the old hand was blood and thunder, went off injured.
