John B Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Southampton striker Marek Saganowski says he is fully committed to the club, after making an impact since returning to the Championship strugglers. The Pole recently spent a loan spell with Danish side Aalborg as part of cost-cutting measures at St Mary's. He told BBC Radio Solent: "When I was sent to Denmark I wasn't happy because I felt good at Saints. "I've got a year and a half left on my contract here and I want to play for this club." Saganowski netted the equaliser in Saints' 2-2 draw at Norwich on Tuesday - his second goal in three matches since returning from Denmark. "It was a big disappointment to be left on the bench, because I thought I did well in the previous game. The goal was my answer to the staff for leaving me out," he said. Big_Bald_Si Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Fair play to the lad - said he didn't want to leave in the first place. Lets hope he proves those that let him go wrong!
Colinjb Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 (edited) I really hope that is true. I've liked Saganowski since the first moments I saw him on at West Brom, he looked a real live wire then and so he proved since. He has to stay. Teddy Nutkins Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Keep banging them in the onion bag Marek,we certainly need you to go on a scoring spree like the season before last. That way we just might, might stay in this division.
Chez Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Ultimately, its not Saga's decision....... no one can force him to leave if he has a contract. The board could put pressure on him to leave but in the end if he wants to be here he will. Whether that means he will get a game is a different matter but once the window closes and he hasn't gone then the manager may as well play him. alpine_saint Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Not how it proved with Kelvin, who said he didn't want to move then turned his phone off on deadline day. If you're under contract, you can't be forced to move. I can't see Kelvin or Saga would be put in the reserves as it would be suicide for the manager. That really stopped Lowe doing it to Skacel, didnt it ?
a1ex2001 Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 That really stopped Lowe doing it to Skacel, didnt it ? I think if Kelvin was relegated to the reserves the revolt would be in the dressing room not just the stands. The team can survive with out Rudi but take Kelvin out and we'd be down already. Window Cleaner Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 The same Rudi Skacel who has been trying to get way since last January? Give it up Faz, these are agenda driven people, they don't give a toss about Rudi Skacel, they know very well that he's been wanting away for a year now but it doesn't fit in with the dynamics of their argument. Anyway if Saga staying comes at the price of Rudi going that's a bonus for us.

paulsfc Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Re the bit about Saga going out on loan again - don't think he can as he has now played for 2 clubs this season so not allowed to play for another. maybe wrong but think it's a relatively recent rule. Which means as we are paying his wages we may as well play him. I am (stupidly) optimistic his goals can get us out of the brown sticky stuff. Bit like Stern last season. He only played well for 1/2 a season when he was on loan to us from Troyes so why not repeat that now? He owes us for that fat contract.
