Willo of Whiteley Posted Monday at 06:24 Posted Monday at 06:24 I’m pretty sure the majority of these players at rout of contract at the end of the season.
Mattio Posted Monday at 08:12 Posted Monday at 08:12 (edited) I wonder if Ramsdale has any regrets on his decision to move to Newcastle given(!) he's likely to be warming up the bench all season? Surely he'd be better off playing every game in the championship with us or at another PL team where he'd be first choice keeper... Edited Monday at 08:43 by Mattio Correcting my bad English

He obviously wants to improve his chances of going to the World Cup. He's never doing that playing in the Championship, and probably wouldn't playing for a team at the bottom of the Premier League. He's essentially gambling on Pope getting a big injury and him playing well for a large part of the season for a top third Premier League team, preferably near the end. He probably knows it's a chance in a million, but he likely thinks it's his best bet.

Newcastle were probably the biggest club came in for him playing the highest level football. Another season of picking balls out of the net for a bottom half team was as likely imo to damage his chances as much as staying in Championship might/would. No choice if he wants to get paid his serious ££ as well but to take the challenge at Newcastle.

He's got minimal chance of getting past an injury free Pope, and zero chance of getting near England sitting on a bench. He'd have had some chance of getting in if he'd played for us, albeit someone above him will have needed to fall out of form or become unavailable. He'd definitely have had more chance playing for anyone in the prem. Just seems a really odd move to me. 1

He will probably get the Cup games, and will get a look in if Pope is injured, but a shame for him. I get it that his massive wages are off the books, etc
HnycS Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Was expecting BBD to be our first loanee on TV, but no Sugawara pipped him with Japan. Came for the last 20 minutes. Not surprisingly he didn't improve the defense, but they were 2-0 down so no surprise.
