Legod Third Coming Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Not in the past 3 years we haven't, so why do managers persist in saying they will learn from their mistakes. We still play players out of positions. We still fail to get to the bye-line and cross the bloody ball. We still fail to beat the first man at corners. We still commit to tackles when we could stand up and shephered players wide and out of play. We still scuff shots or worse, lean back and watch them sail over. I yearn for the day when we can do the basics right. And then start to worry about 'formations'....
Bearsy Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Why do managers keep telling our players to scuff their shots?
SaintRobbie Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 There is only one lesson we need to finally learn. With Lowe = failure. Without Lowe = hope.

Formation is not just about how you start a game - its about how you move off the ball and still retain discipline for example. One of the great myths with the Dutch experiment in my eyes is the 'passing game'. Frankly, I think some of even our lesser opponents have passed the ball on the ground MORE EFFECTIVELY than we have. Why? Because their formation - or more to the point their positioning - has been far better than ours.

Stu Man Do Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 That promise is as empty as Bradley Wright-phillips saying "i'll never miss another one on one again". To be fair in a pretty poor season I found that comment to be one of the uplifting moments ... gave me hours of laughter :-p As for learning lessons I'll believe that when I see a tight well defended 1-0 win without any jitters in the last 10 minutes, the referee blowing up exactly on the right amount of extra time and seeing adam L stay on the right wing , oh and hope against hope Dave McG not missing another 1 on 1 :-p

I use to get incandescent with fury at the complete banal shiite platitudes like this that used to come out of Burley's gob after every piiiss-poor performance.
