So, some changes today. No Dawson, Jack or Lehmann. Currie, Middleton and Organ added.

Won toss, put Glamorgan into bat first.

Another fantastic bit of captancy by Ben Brown. The pitch looks a belter to bat on, especially in these conditions.

I doubt that Brown decides all by himself.

Theory seems to be that with a bit more grass left on the strip our bowlers should take davantage.

Carberry says that the bowling is too inconsistant to trouble Glamorgan overmuch. Still they got Tribe, out from a silly swish.

Has Dawson been dropped or injured? I know he hasn't started the season that well, but big call if he has been dropped.

Injured. Apparently has been for a while but today, although named in the side, couldn't play.

A Utilita shirtfront. Important thing is beat the follow on when we bat and take our time. No T20 crap.

On this surface, we should be expecting a couple of hundreds and at least two 50s from the top six, in additions to contributions further down. That needs to be set as a minimum standard in the dressing room as their attack isn’t especially potent. I’d seriously question if any of the top 6 have a future at the club if that can’t be done.

Lehmann has had to go home so he can’t prop them up this time.

Ben Brown is a shit captain though. Needs another ton to stay in the team and I hope Russell Domingo tells him that.

Oh dear. Heading for an innings defeat more thn likely.

Horrific hack across the line from Middleton, like Weatherley another batter well below FC level who needs FT employment and enjoy his cricket in the local leagues.

Today has to be the day for Tom Prest, 43 no and needs a big ton. The forecast may save Hampshire if they put in a little more effort this afternoon on a road to play straight to very modest bowling. The new coach is already under pressure I suspect. Yusuf has been useless, worse than Hampton. Get an overseas batsman in and draw our way to staying up.

Our batting continuing to disappoint. Can’t believe us getting zero batting points when an ordinary Glamorgan were on their way to 600 is on the cards.

Not today Tom Prest. Humiliated by Crâne.

132-5. Domingo is fighting for his job here. Squad is D2 but they’re not playing for the coach at all.

Couldn't say, the players are what they are and I know nothing about the coach.

However we probably need to stop playing at the Utilita where the pitches don't suit us, no fans either.

Thèse are just dobby seamers, but they're accurate and don't spray the ball about as did ours bowlers on friday.

A real spinner is of course a bonus.

Could you please stop posting this rubbish Middleton is a less than Average First Class Cricketer with little confidence playing in a poor team one of the worst in the last fifty years

The coach is unlikely to be sacked as he is not responsible for bowlers inaccuracy and batsman's poor shot selection

The recruitment for a test county is just horrific. Compare our top 5 to almost every other county and it clearly isn't competitive.

Time and time again they fail to address the top of the order with meaningful signings.

Look at this side versus the one from two or three years back with Vince, a motivated Dawson, Barker, Abbas etc and its lightyears apart.

Relegation inevitable and caused by awful cricket management.

I’ll post what I like John as long as it is not litigious.

154-8 against that attack on that pitch is beyond pathetic. Cricket doesn’t have transfer windows so the coach is one of the few things you can change. It’s like when Will Still when Saints had him as manager, the players have no plan, no confidence and no leadership. It’s not a vintage Hampshire side but Gubbins is better than he’s showing, Prest is getting no direction to value his wicket, Currie has been in England white ball squads recently. It’s not as bad as this or the Essex no-show. Even in the late 90s when we had no money it was better than this.

Deposing Brown as skipper would be an idea as well.

70mph and not moving the ball much, but decent lines and straight. Ball has hardly beaten the bat but Glamorgan were disciplined and Hampshire don’t have any ideas or plans.

Carlson predicted it would be very difficult to get wickets today but he’s in a promoted side who want to play for their county, our senior players don’t bar Dawse and Kyle. Mayes clearly has talent but being set a terrible example by indiscipline and lack of work ethic of the mid-senior career players.

New owners will shake things up majorly at the club over the winter I’d expect.

No particular reason for ghem to give a shit about red ball cricket though.

We will be competitive in T20 and their priority will be Southern Capitals in Hundred.

Is there a financial hit from relegation ?

Probably but money comes from the T20, the Hundred and Internationals. Looking at the empty stands, can't see that we make anything from red ball.

Apparently we have a project to rebuild, can't see how. Abbott and Dawson are done, Brown also. True we have Mayes but he'll be on central contract soon as you know it and the rest is D2 standard.
