Really good result that, dug deep for the draw against a good outfit. Will need that kind of resilience for the rest of the games to have any chance of staying up.

Talking about the ladies the Utilita bowl looked about 10% full for the World cup game yesterday (NZ vs WI). Pretty disappointing especially as it had an exciting finish.

Ladies cricket doesn't interest a whole lot of people. Forcing it down people's throats won't change that. In my view there's far too much of it now. Now County Cricket..well there's not enough of it, haven't had a CC or T20 match for seems like ages.

All those winning the toss chose to bat this morning and interestingly a lot of wickets have fallen. For the moment Hants seem to be doing best of the batting teams.(Don't speak too soon!)

Three batting points when every other side is in double figures is pathetic. They’re so reliant on Lehmann that when he fails, it all fails. Gubbins at least seems to be on an uptick of form and Prest did better yesterday. And Sussex were missing their two frontline bowlers Robinson and Crocombe! So they got skittled by a fringe attack on a not-too bad deck. Great effort lads!

But although the overseas isn’t as useless as Yusuf or Hampton, it’s astonishing that so-called cricket professionals couldn’t spot yet again that we needed a top quality overseas batsman to give our bowlers something to work with. 

Needs to be a total rebuild next year. Rasmus Ankerson syndrome, massive squad but very few FC calibre players within it. If we don’t, D2 basement looms for many years.

Well Lehmann is a top quality overseas batter, just doesn't count as overseas.

We have so many holes to patch 2 overseas players isn't anywhere near enough, plus I very much doubt that we have the money to plug all the holes even if it was permitted. Bowling looks weak as well, no-one is going to convince me that, as of yet,Baker is a test bowler,he's so erratic.

I have never really understood the persistance with Middleton, Currie Weatherly and even Albert, he looks like a one day slogger. Organ is a waste of time apart from the odd showing once in a blue moon but I suppose at the end of the day it comes down to money.

Anyway we need to start over next season in D2 and for me personally thé point of départ is a clean sweep of the coaching staff, all of them, top to bottom.

Sonny Baker currently averages 141 in international cricket. That is the highest average for any England bowler to take at least two international wickets, barring Michael Atherton.

His England shirt is 60 he was not that fast yesterday one at 88

The wicket and the overcast conditions are obviously causing problems. Gubbins should appel against that decision, but then that's not possible in County matchs.

Hants got 8 points deducted last year for the same reason. And it was against Sussex (who even had a player score a century if I remember correctly).

Batting conditions have obviously improved, it being less overcast. Probably need to play out a maximum of overs after tea, try to get 200+ ahead and hope for the same dire batting conditions when Sussex bat again.

We’re over 200 ahead, need Organ to carry on beyond to get us 250+ to give Kyle the Organgrinder enough to work with.

Ought to be automatic hearing if neither side gets a batting point. Context of course - the preceding weather and level of movement off the actual pitch v overheads. 

Lord’s should be dug up and use drop-in pitches until the new square beds in. Any surface where the keeper takes it around their ankles, if that high, needs to go. The extremes of weather made it worse but it has been low and poor for many years now.

Pitches are becoming more of a problem nowadays. The reason? More cricket because women's matches are being played on main grounds. Also more representative games, didn't used to have all these Overseas A against Lions and the like during the regular season.

More intense spells of weather patterns with climate change as well. If you’re the groundsman for the third test, some real extremes the pitch is exposed to in the lead up. Seen it in Australia as well last winter. Throw in white ball batting habits and it leads to some exciting cricket but collapses if the pitch/overheads vary by a millimetre.
