Essex have done us a bit of a favour seemingly. Put on an average spinner who got tonked and got us back on track.

Essex commentators seemed to be unsure about their choice of bowlers at the end. Benkinstein going for 18 off a over put us right back on track.

Good from Fuller and Neal though.

We really need to look at playing Brown in this format. Can't score quickly. Where is Albert? Thought he was available..

Sharma before playing for Hampshire had bowled 20 overs in 20 one day games taking 2 wickets. 

In this competition for the moment he is the leading wicket taker.

His first ball in the next game will be for a hat-trick .

Shame about the batting - hope that improves.

Maybe Neal should just open the batting and we can drop Orr, who needs to go and play some regular D2 cricket for a while.

Great to see Prest’s confidence returning. It’s a shame we are not really seeing any new young talent in this competition, Williams has really struggled and aside from that it’s basically our county players who can’t score quickly enough for the short form game.

that said we do have young talent in the 100 and international youth etc so maybe our other young players are just not quite ready. I’d still love us to find and nurture a mystery spinner.

Mini collapse. Might not bé all bad if Neal or Fuller can knock these spinners about a bit. Shouldn't be only scoring in Singles at this stage if we want to put up a défendable score.

Well after one and a half overs of their innings, I think I can safely say we have virtually no chance of winning this or progressing in this competition. The team is just too weak in all départements.

That's ok. Orr should get plenty of game time with Hampshire in CC Div 2 next season.

Rumour has it that he's returning to Middlesex. Still be D2 though.

Hants are said to be signing Rishi Patel and Finn Hudson-Prentice apparently.

Rishi Sunak would an improvement with bat in hand, let alone Rishi Patel. Sorry to MLG but Orr joined from Sussex, but it hasn’t worked out.

Anyway for the one day matches Hants should rest Abbott and Fuller as qualification is virtually impossible.

Although you have to admire the optimism on the official site. States that we need to win at least 2 out of 3 to have a chance of qualifying. That would need the 3 sides already on 16 points to lose all their remaining matches heavily.

The only hope of progressing is winning all 3 by substantial margins and hope all the others play poorly. This will not happen.

Jack and Lumsden in the group for tomorrow. Still no Mayes, not released I suppose.

If Hants reached the final, we’d only lose like we have in the last two when a mere run a ball was required with around 5 wickets remaining from 25-30 balls anyway.
