"Organisers initially estimated that as many as 1,000 protestors had taken part in the march, but police put the figure at more like 300"

So what's the story behind the Echo's sudden eagerness to jump back into bed with Lowe ?

I've read in several places it was nearer 3000 than 300.

The initial group right near the Bargate was probably closer to the 300-500 mentioned, but there were alot of people just milling around (in the precinct etc) waiting for the march to get going as north of the Bargate was fairly chocker and you couldn't get near it.

But when the march got going the numbers swelled considerably (as the videos show).

Being a cynic, I do wonder if some of the media were/are under pressure to play this down. There was talk that Radio Hampshire took a decision not to publicise it and I have to say that I think The Echo weren't that keen either!!!!!!

It's a fair cop! I edit the London Saints site and didn't get to update it until Sunday night and what with doing a match report and a piece on Ted Bates, I took the easy option and copied and pasted the Echo article. I for one am all for any anti-Lowe voices but obviously can't speak for all of our members (a number of whom were present at the march).

I've amended the piece which hopefully gives a better reflection.

The march reminded me of when we all went to York in 1971 for a Cup-tie - there were about 3 train loads and everyone (thousands) walked together through the town to the stadium. I felt a bit sorry for the inhabitants of York that day because their town sort of got closed down for an hour. Um Pahars is right about numbers. I was right at the back and when I left the Bargate the whole of Hanover buildings was chocka (road and pavement) and some were already in Hoglands Park. The video taken outside the King Alfred didn't capture all those who nipped in for a pint too. StanFairOak was one!

Thet have a reputation for cozying up to Lowe and Cowan

We do?

London Saints Supporters Club exists primarily to assist exiled Saints fans with tickets and travel deals. In addition there are social offshoots such as football, cricket, golf, pool and darts.

From time to time we have held functions that have provided our members with the opportunity to meet representatives of SFC such as the player’s evening we recently held following the game at Charlton. A few years ago Rupert Lowe and Gordon Strachan came up to London for a ‘question and answer’ session. Since then Lawrie Mac has been up for a similar function so if there’s a political agenda then it’s a confused one.

This forum contains so many individuals who are bent on dividing supporters.

Cardiff Saints is very similar, shows the ignorance of the initial poster. People actual spend a bit of their own time and effort to build links with the club?? Whatever next. Much better to slag people off at arms length on a message board surely.

If there was only 300 why did it take nearly 4 mins for us to walk past the pub in the tube video.

Why did the police need so many police on duty with several vans parked blocking side roads. We were passing clusters of police for the length and breadth of the march.

The officer in charge and the camera crews and interviewers certainly thought we were far better supported with estimates up to 3000. Some joining in as we marched.

And we

ALWAYS believe what the police tell us ? They distort the truth more than the average thief

Who cares? If the Police estimate 300, then anyone is entitled to report that the Police estimate 300. Have a go at the Police, not Saints fans.
