sidthesquid Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 Quote from The Sun on Newsnow. Anyone know any more? Meanwhile, Jason Euell has pleaded with Saints to resolve his future so he can resume his career. The midfielder, 32, has been frozen out of the side for financial reasons. He said: “I’ve had an approach from the Colorado Rapids but am still in limbo as I’ve had no straight answers from Southampton.”
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 IMO, he's crucial to us if we have any hope of staying up (if Rupes says we're allowed to play him, that is!). Wouldn't blame him for wanting to go, though, given the appalling way we've treated our experienced pros this year.
Weston Saint Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 Euell could help us avoid with what looks like inevitable relegation but his wages between now and the end of his summer contract is £300,000 plus NI plus pension contribitions and other add ons. I just do no think the club can afford him. That is not to say I give any credence to the story in the Sun.

Clubs around us will be getting loan players in that they can't afford just to avoid the drop. Its that or league 1 i am afraid.
Weston Saint Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 :confused:Of course I mean't the end of his contract in the summer. sorry for the confusion PS. To answer NW Saint, if he is going to see out his contract I would definately play him but if we have a chance to cancel his contract now or ofload him then I would be all in favour. It is all about balance between finance and the need for results. The answer? No idea!
Saint Bones Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 Unless he has a matchday bonus for playing, we'd still be paying him - can't quite undrestand why he is out the team for financial reasons.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 I guess another question is, if he were to go to the US now, would we get a transfer fee as he's still under contract???

SaintRobbie Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 (edited) It just sums up how truly appalling Lowe's strategy of marginalising the senior players in the hope they'd want to leave cheaply. All we have as a result are marginalised players we desperately need who - even if they do play - are unlikely to give 100% for a cause that badly needs 110% from all its players right now. I know I am a huge critic of Lowe.... but his policy of marginalisation has also FAILED. They're still here Rupert, but are further ripping the club apart by telling the world how badly treated they've been, turning off potential loanees from coming here, turning off investment, turning off fans, turning off hope. Rupert Lowe. Your decision to marginalise. Your decision to rip apart our team. Even this tactic has FAILED... and failed badly as its having other repercussions. Mary Corbett was right... there are people who want to come in and invest in this club - I am sure of that - but not whilst this criminally negligent fool is with this Club. GO RUPERT. I THINK THE FANS WILL BE LOOKING FOR REVENGE SOON... LET ALONE THE RHETORIC OF HATRED THATS CONTINUALLY HEADING YOUR WAY. YOU'VE FAILED YOUR SHAREHOLDERS, FAILED YOUR FAMILY, FAILED YOUR EMPLOYEES, FAILED YOUR TEAM, FAILED YOUR SUPPORTERS. LEAVE THIS CLUB WHILE YOU STILL CAN... I think people are about to start looking for legal action against you personally. Edited 14 February, 2009 by SaintRobbie
cellone Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 It's in the star aswell. Sound's like a pay me off or play me plea. He say's he still thinks he has something to offer Saint's.

Every time the ball comes to him it flies into the air six feet - he couldn't trap a packet of crisps,. God the way some fans get excited over a couple of clearances off the line!!! Whether he plays or not is neither here nor there - so much hype over a very very below average player!
NickG Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 even if he was on low wages and no bonuses he wouldn't be first name on team sheet by far.
Ponty Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 This story was from December IIRC. He wasn't getting any 1st XI action then but he is now.

Nope it was a rumour. But, it seems such a small price for someone to pay to be hailed at hero in Hampshire!
