Hatch Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Who was the last player to play every minute of every league game for us during a season? (if it ever has been done.) I'm asking cos I don't know, not because I am asking a quiz question .
Saint_clark Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Why, is Davis on course to do so? EDIT: just read all of your post instead of the title I think Davis is actually on his way to playing every second of every league game for us. Papa Shango Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Wayne Bridge 2001/02?
stevegrant Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Goalkeepers are usually a decent bet for those sort of records as they don't tend to get injured or suspended as frequently. Kelvin Davis has played every minute of every league game this season, although he didn't play in the Carling Cup. I suspect the last player to do it before Davis will have been Wayne Bridge, though, as Antti Niemi could always be relied upon to pick up the occasional niggle that would keep him out for a few games a season, we had Niemi, Smith and Miller in 05/06, Davis lost his place to Bialkowski towards the end of the 06/07 season and we had all sorts of problems last season with keepers. Saint_clark Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 04/05 was nuts for keepers, Niemi, Smith, Blayney, Poke and Keller all played I believe.

Wes Tender Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Don't I recall that Wayne Bridge had set some sort of record for the number of continuous complete games that he played when he was here?
Paul Chuckle Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 Don't I recall that Wayne Bridge had set some sort of record for the number of continuous complete games that he played when he was here? Didn't he play every minute of every game for like 100 odd games? Doesn't he still hold that record for an outfield player in the premiership?????? Paul Chuckle Posted 24 March, 2009 Share Posted 24 March, 2009 His temperament and consistency, together with a high level of fitness, enabled him to continue to play every match until 18 January 2003 when he limped off with an injury in a 1–0 defeat to Liverpool. This brought to an end a run of 113 consecutive appearances, a Premiership record for an outfield player (since surpassed by Frank Lampard).[4] His run started on 4 March 2000 since when Bridge had played 10,160 consecutive minutes of Premiership football, not missing a single minute's play through injury or suspension.
