Stunned but impressed! I'm not so sure I was that magnaimous during their decline (infact I know damn well I wasn't) but fair play to the author of that article.

I think he also recognises that it is not inconceivable that they may not be a lot better off in 2 or 3 years than the position we find ourselves in now.

If the current positions were reversed I WOULD be gloating like f.u.c.k. but if we didn't have Pxmpey as rivals at all I would feel we had lost something. Albeit something approaching hatred but a loss nevertheless.

Colin is a real football person. He was one of the teachers at my college many moons ago. A thoroughly decent and great bloke he was then. Its great that the turnabout in our clubs' respective fortunes has not changed him (those that are the worst are those that do not remember Gregory/Venables)

I take it that he wants us to survive so he can take the p###. Begging for us to get the 10 point penalty.

I dont blame him though, although when they were in our position i felt for their football fans not their thugs.

Thought this point a good one about our similarities but contrasting fortunes:

To be fair, historically Saints spent very few season in Div Three. They, like us, sit somewhere between the (old) Division One (ie Premiership) and Div Two (ie Championship). I have long maintained that Pompey and Saints are clubs of very similar stature for completely different reasons. Of late though we seemed to have turned into them (in their late Dell days) and them us (in our Martin Gregory period)...

sorry to post on your main board but the general consensus of our lot in the office do NOT want to see you disappear completely and I wish you well in finding someone who can help you out of your current predicament. I can remember the coffins going down goldsmith avenue around 10 years ago when we were in the same boat.

nervous and apprehensive times, we all have one common thing between us and that is we are all fans and no fans should have to go through such times.

Well I've gotta admit even in their darkest hour I never wanted Pompey to go under. struggling like hell to keep afloat, but not actually go out of business forever. How dull would it be having Bournemouth as your local rivals. Mind you, we might be playing them more often than Pompey soon!

Nice to hear from you again, our old fishy friend. Enjoy it while it lasts and come back again when you have replaced your corrugated-iron lean-to with a proper stadium. perhaps you'd like to rent one up this way? You'd all have to play in red and white stripes, mind. ;)

i work in a pompey office and im used to having the **** ripped out of me at every oppertunity, however the guys who are old enough to remember the numerous bad times they went through gueniunly wish that the club survives, one of them even said it'd be pompeys kind of luck that we get some Arab oil billionaire end up owning us!

the Johnny come latelys however are still c.ocks, but as i say, support through the **** times to make the good times taste that little bit sweeter.

Didn't that used to be Brighton? I'm sure that they used to cut the bottoms out of the bags and put the numbers on the back with felt-tip pens. Have you thought about ground-sharing with them? It would save on having to repaint the stadium between home games.
