Can anyone explain please? If you're a season ticket holder, it's the number on the slip inside, usually something like 1122334 - number like that, or probably on your membership card if you have one. If not ring the T.O and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you what it is

a1ex2001 Posted 15 April, 2009 Share Posted 15 April, 2009 We'll never sell out the away end at hilsborough, nobody does. Worse case scenario is we sell out the initial allocation but they will have plenty available on the day, hell they could even open both tiers if necessary! londonsaint1604 Posted 15 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 April, 2009 Got my ticket at lunchtime, the guy told me they had sold about 700. Must have sold a lot yesterday, it says we've sold the initial 1000 but we can pay on the turnstiles so I'm guessing there should be at least another 1000 or so available if we've got the whole of the west stand/lepping lane. londonsaint1604 Posted 15 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 April, 2009 so its only pay on the day now for definite? According to the OS it is. I suppose they wouldn't have time to send any more tickets out and then sell them on, they should have given us more than 1000 to begin with really. The west stand holds almost 8000 in total apparently so even if we only have the lower tier I would guess another 1000 should be available. Very odd since they almost always use the upper tier, and clearly originally we were going to be using it. Quite pleased though, as the upper tier is a long way from the pitch! Without being too smarmy, you are a propper club with propper fans ! The reason that you have now been allocated the lower tier of Leppings Lane is that unless you can fully sell the upper, we now give free tickets to kids/nurses/underpriviledged and let them go upstairs. have a safe trip and if you want any advice about pubs etc, give me a shout all the best

Why put kids/nurses/etc. next to away fans and subject them to, what's usually some ripe language and banter, when they could keep all away fans together on one tier and put their more innocent types out the way in the vacant lower tier? Tho' having been to Hillsboro' a number of times (including the '84 cup game - I'm sure it was fish thrown on the pitch, not a chicken!) I reckon some of those kids will be 'up for it'! You are right it was Mackerel thrown on the pitch as it had been at all the previous cup games at Forest, P*mpey and Blackburn on that cup run. Several lads from West Tytherley started the trend at Forest adn more and more fish got thrown on the pitch as the run contuinued. I helped run two coaches from Salisbury to Sheffield, which contained some of these lads and the smell of all the fish was awful. Also remember not being allowed to being escorted back by Police to South Of Oxford on the way back, we only just managed pint before closing time just north of Newbury. Oo, Mack, Mack, a Macker, Mackerel was the warcry at the Forest game. Was on the coach (think Foley's for that one) to Forest with the Tytherley boys (some of whom I still see) and the Mackerel was legendary for that game an the rest of the run in. Was continually thrown on to the pitch from that corner pen and the ball boys kept giving them back to them/us. Think they were bought in Loughbrough where we were allowed to stop for about 3 minutes before the old bill ran us out of town. No clue where the idea came from, but it was funny all the same. buffalo tom Posted 16 April, 2009 Share Posted 16 April, 2009 Firstly... i can categoricaly state i'm not the fat bloke without the shirt If you are driving in and want to park near the ground ( there is a car park directly opposite the Kop, and plenty of street parking) then you are best going up to the Sheffield North junction and following the A61 direct to the ground. If you want to use park and ride, come off the M1 at Meadowhall and get the tram to Middlewood , getting off at Leppings Lane. As for pubs, west street in the city is great and the tram will take you direct fto the ground from there. For a pub near the stadium, try the New Barrack tavern on Penistone Road, its a real ale pub , serves good food and is only a 10 minute walk to the ground ! cheers !
