Yes. it's difficult to judge a player when he's in a struggling team. Defenders from teams with good defensive records, like Sven Botman at Lille, tend to be more expensive so maybe the club feel they have played a bit of moneyball by getting a bargain from a poor team. They've certainly been tracking him for a long time - well before the new owners arrived.
-
Well, he certainly didn't solve Bochum's last season. We can only hope that playing alongside better defenders at Southampton, he'll improve. He's No. 37: Even though he was in a poor team at Bochum, he was highly thought of there and Saints were linked with him more than a year ago, so our scouts must have been watching him for a long time and rate him highly. Welcome to Saints.

If you are going to continue your obsession with me, you'll have to do better than that, I'm afraid. You are just becoming dull and boring now. Maybe you should go on a sarcasm retraining course.
-
Jesus wept. Is that the best you can do? lol
-
Absolutely and I'm going to post sarcastic comments about it, every day for the rest of my life. I think I might start them all with the words Jesus wept.

I bet Scotland wish they had a striker as good as Obafemi.
-
He scored for us against Man United, Chelsea and West Ham. I'd rather see him coming on in the final 10 minutes of a game than Shane Long.
-
He always had pace and an eye for goal. He looks a class above any of our current strikers. He's going to be worth a lot of money in the future.
-
Talking of Middlebrough, I'm surprised nobody has snapped up Dael Fry yet. He's the sort of central defender who'd be ideal for a club like Southampton.
-
England were transformed when Grealish replaced Mount. Mount has an occasional good game but most of the time for England he is completely anonymous.
-
Yes, by at least a yard, but they never noticed.

The goal scorer, Jonas Hofmann, was part of the Borussia Mönchengladbach team that outclassed Saints 3-0 at St Mary's 4 years ago. We had a back three of Hoedt, Vestergaard and Bednarek with McCarthy in goal. No wonder they waltzed through our defence. We've seen so many great young players in those pre-season friendlies at St Mary's but our club scouts never seem to notice any of them. I remember being very impressed by a young Antoine Griezmann when he came on as a sub in one of them.

I've seen what is available from beIN SPORTS. They can both make acrobatic saves but the big difference is that Lis tends to always push or slap the ball whereas Eğribayat catches it more. I'd prefer Nick Pope to both of them
-
It has something to do with a dispute over his unpaid wages in Izmir, the city where Altay and Göztepe play, and the fact that Göztepe don't need him as they already have a better young goalkeeper in Eğribayat.
-
I don't think he'd be good enough for them. They've already got Eğribayat, who's a better goalkeeper than Lis. Anyway, I'm not sure Lis would want to stay in Izmir as he has been involved in a dispute there over unpaid wages.

I've watched most of Inter's games on BT Sport this season and he's still very good, has phenomenal work rate and creates lots of chances, with 3 goals and 6 assists in his last 10 games. With Perisic, Son and Kane, Spurs are going to score even more goals next season.
-
Diallo reminds me a bit of Jordy Clasie. For the first year or two they were here, the more optimistic fans said, hopefully, that they just needed a bit more time to adjust to the Premier League. But, basically, they just weren't suited to it.
-
At least we should be able to beat his son's team. It will be nice for our players to win a game for a change.
-
It's going to be the Fiorentina reserve goalkeeper or the youngster who played for Pompey this season. On the plus side, anybody's got to be better than McCarthy. The problem is Ralph is still going to pick McCarthy for some games, including the ones which give us our only chance of winning a trophy in the League Cup and FA Cup.
-
Good move for him and we've got worse. What's the betting we'll see McCarthy in goal for our first team again next season?
-
The thing about away games is that our fans who sing and make the most noise are forced to stay together in one big group so there are enough of them to make themselves heard. At home they split themselves into two groups in the corners of the away end. They effectively divide themselves so the away fans can rule. The obvious thing would be for them to all get behind the goal at the Chapel end, which is supposed to be our home end. The police would have no objection to this. I know that such a suggestion will be met with cynicism and laughter. It always is and that perhaps is the problem of Saints support.
-
At least there's not enough time left for them to score 9.
-
We've still got the same problem we've had since van Dijk and Fonte left: we still need two new central defenders, preferably two who can head the ball. Oh, and we also need two new strikers, preferably two who can head the ball and even score goals.

Several sites reporting that Spurs are after him so he could end up playing in the Champions League next season. Tottenham want England man that Arteta branded ‘exceptional’ this season (hitc.com)
