This sums it up pretty well. The only reason he was a bad signing was his pretty well know bad attitude. As for playing ability he was a class player, probably too good for us. Carrillo on the other hand had nothing to suggest he would be good enough

I reckon the club are going to Gamble on sticking with the CF’s we currently have and just buy creativity around them. On paper Austin / Gabbi good enough, but who knows if they’ll produce. Boufal to Celta Vigo interesting RE sisto. Personally can’t see them having them both.

When did I say it had anything to do with the FA or that we are breaching any laws etc... all I said was if I worked for the FA I’d be concerned that clubs are being youngesters from abroad and taking less people that potentially will go on to play for England. This isn’t just aimed at Saints, I’m uncomfortable with all clubs doing it. As I said, I appreciate that the club need to do this to stay competitive, however I’m keen to see England do just as well as I am Saints. As for Bale/welsh/Scottish lads, that’s a bit of a unique situation, when I said country I do mean Britain as a whole. There is also the argument that it dilutes the talent of the league of the country they’re taken from. Personally, I think fifa/the FA (for English clubs) need to Do something to stop it. My personal opinion.

Personally not a fan of it. Imo if you’re brought through an academy, it should be at the very least in the country of your birth/current residence. But in the same light, appreciate that’s the way things have gone and that’s what we need to do to stay competitive. Bringing in the best from abroad isn’t going to help the England national team and is something, if I worked for the FA, I’d be very concerned about.

Either one of them would be brilliant but of business. Is there any way we could get Batshuayi? Can’t see us paying the money for him personally, but would be the icing on the cake of a decent transfer window. Forster + money swap for him? Would free up weekly wage for us to pay Batshuayi...

Vydra is not a target man if anything, he’s more of an attacking mid. As for Giroud, get a grip, he’s clearly not going to come here now, is he. You’re a wally who talks out your arse mate.

Ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play is something we massively miss. It’s not all about scoring goals individually. If he can help the team, collectively, score more, that will be an improvement.

I get passed on a few bits but I’m not Ralph or the finance director and neither is the person I know who worked (no longer does) there.

I know his missus pretty well. Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up at Spurs at some point. A real shame that he’s ended up like this, should have been our LB this World Cup, but even when with us we had concerns about his lifestyle and fitness.

I remember when Liverpool finished 8tg, two places below us, and we still sold them our best player and lost our manager to a team that finished 11th... Clearly Burnley don’t have a player of the ability of Mane, but in the same light they clearly (at this stage) don’t have aspirations to be a regular EL team. Comparing us and Burnley when we both retrospectively made the EL is a completely different set of circumstances.

From someone who knows him very well “it was between us a Celtic, Celtic more likely”. What “was” means I don’t know, but there 100% was some interest our end. If we made a bid or not I’m not sure, but he has certainly been considered.

Is that the same Austin who has been our top goal scorer 2 years running, despite being out with injury for a significant part of both seasons. When fit, he is top class. Unfortunately he’s not fit enough to be relied upon and needs to be managed effectively. Ings isn’t in the same bracket as Austin in terms of ability. I don’t think Ings would offer us anything different to what Gabbi does and IMO gabbi is a better player. We won’t spend anywhere near £20m on him, the money isn’t my concern, it’s the fact he’s not the sort of player we need.

I can only assume it is to play out wide/ 1 of the 2 behind the striker. Personally if we’re looking for a CF, we need what we hoped Carrillo would be. Big, strong and can hold the ball up.

You do realise that the reason it went ‘tits up’ at Watford was because Everton tapped him up and he effectively didn’t want to be there. Not saying that’s right, but I’m confident the same won’t happen this time around and I’m 99% sure they’ll finish ahead of us.

Very bad bit of business, if true. Average in terms of ability, very poor in terms of injury record. He’s also a bit of knobhead as well. He had the chance to join us when he moved to the victims to earn and wedge and sit on the bench. Avoid.

Disagree that they mean zilch. I think you have to take everything into context. Early games will be everyone getting game time, the latter games will be a better indication.
