Who would you have take temp charge? Seriously? Imagine, worse case, we ended up with Kelv and RJ until the end of the season... MP isn't great but I promise you he is better than them 2. If we could get someone half respectable in for 2 or 3 games whilst we find a suitable replacement I could understand us sacking him, however I'm not sure we can. The trouble is, the board have taken too long to look for a suitable replacement - that should have happened 1 or 2 months ago.
-
Another player we knew was leaving for some time before he did. Strange considering we have the all singing all dancing 'black box'... it's been a while since we heard about that, thinking about it. I wonder why.
-
And there in lies the problem. We will end up with 3/4th best because our sh!te board have got us in the mess and won’t spend the money required to get us out of it. If our top targets want more because of the mess we’re in, pay them whatever it takes. I can’t blame anyone not wanting to come here though, we can’t be that much of an attractive proposition at the moment.

Playing second fiddle to Vardy (understandable) in a team pretty much only playing one CF. I'd snap their hand off if he is available, especially at that price (which I very much doubt considering they payed around £25m for him a few months ago). Not sure he's the target man we need though.

Absolutely spot on. For all Cortese’s sins (a lot of them), he was an excellent leader.
-
Any names you can share, eric? Assuming that anyone we have spoken to are currently out of work. Positive news nevertheless, and hopefully with Stoke now pulling the trigger (assuming they'd be looking at roughly the same as us... perhaps VFTT could confirm?), it will force our hand. Agree with the clubs tactics in not sacking MP until we have someone lined up. It's a shame (bad management) that we have left it this long to explore other targets. If it takes 3 weeks to find a replacement, that could be us all but relegated. It's been clear that MP isn't up to the task for some time now.

The championship / L1 ect are only fun when you are winning every week, which if we go down I don't think we will. When you go from outplaying Inter Milan (However sh!t they were) to struggling to beat Burton Albion (hypothetical of course) in 2 years, it's slightly demoralising.

Watford's form is terrible, ours isn't much better. Player for player we have a better squad, although, IMO, their forwards are probably slightly better so are more likely to score. For me, they have the better manager, will that be the difference? A must win and a game we should be winning. So i'm going to go for 1-1 draw.
-
Nah tbf he’s not been our best player (arguably you could say PEH) for the last 6 weeks
-
How good will Boufal be in the championship btw...
-
Henderson probably asked him to grow it so he can play with it when they share a bed.
-
Agree - loan or £15-£20m max, imo. Pretty overrated but will offer us the pace and directness we’re crying out for.

I hate the PL and what it has become. It’s a division for the rich and you need money to run and watch it these days, however as a supporter I want to see us in the best division possible... if we went down, we wouldn’t be back for a long long time, IMO

Having to sign the next Mane, produce the next Lallana, appoint the next Poch and headhunt the next Mitchell, in order to sell for a profit to keep the club going (and line the owners pockets) isn’t sustainable, however you dress it. If you want a “sustainable club”, you’ll be watching championship football in the near future. We have nothing coming through the academy and I can’t see many from our squad being worth much. What happens then? It’s not about throwing money around like it’s nothing, it’s spending money if and where required (I.e this window and probably next summer - on top of the VvD money - to strengthen the squad, coaching staff and other staff members), sensibly and carefully. Each to their own, if you’re happy for the club to be in free fall but that doesn’t matter as we’re making a tidy profit for some wealthy businessperson, then so be it. On a side note, I’ve just seen Huddersfield are charging some of their fans £250 for a ST next year.....
-
Don’t talk rubbish. Going down would be terrible for the club.
-
Especially when his view is contradicting.... he’s openly admitted that we needed to spend money to get promoted twice and then finish in the top 8. Yet he just wants us to be “sustainable”, I’m sure he’s loving this season then. To be honest, I think the only thing he wants is an argument... wan ker

I just spent my last £10 on an XL bedsheet to write “sack the board” on it for tomorrow xx
-
I’ve not demanded anything. I’d love for us to be sustainable, however the reality is, it’s unachievable long term, especially if you want to consistently be in the top half of the table (pretty sure I’ve said this a few time, don’t know why it’s so hard for you to grasp). Regardless, breaking even every year would be considered to be sustainable. There’s a massive difference between that and having a first thought, and priority, to make a profit (regardless of on field impact). Let’s see how sustainable we are if/when we go down shall we. As horrible as it sounds, trust me I hate it as much as the next person, if you want to be a successful football club in this day and age, you need strong financial backing (just ask those down the road, who sold out first opportunity).
-
At what point did I suggest spending money for the sake of it or just buying players to appease fans (which the Walcott signing looks like if I’m honest). All I’m saying, unless you have the commercial income of Man Utd, you will not survive or be successful long term in the Permier league, by having an owner who’s first thought is to turn a profit. It’s not all about buying players. In our model you need to have the best player recuirtment around, in order to do this you need to spend money. If it was so easy to run a club without having to spend millions, why is it the large majority of clubs are owned by billionaires. But if you get some sort of excitement out of seeing the P&L’s at the end of each month, despite the clear issues on the field, then fair play.
-
Because if you want to survive / thrive in the premier league that doesn't work long term. It only takes a bad window or recruitment period or 2 (as we've seen) to be completely ****ed. If you don't want to spend money, don't buy a football club. It's as simple as that, like it or not.

Marcus, along with Kat originally, took a very back seat and essentially gave Cortese an open cheque book to run us how he saw fit. IMO, the day the music started to die was when Kat decided she couldn't/didn't want to continue to fund us the way we were at the time being run. Which to be fair was probably the right decision. Momentum carried us for a few years as we still had a number of key members of staff in place. However, lack of funding (potentially could be called ambition) has meant that they have since moved on, replaced with 'lesser quality', and as a result we have seen a drop in performance all throughout the club at all levels. We may stay up this season, we may finish top 10 next season, however unless Gao changes things (which doesn't appear likely) it will be back to the days of battling relegation and every now and again getting a top 10 finish (if we're lucky). We could also quite easily drop a division or 2 pretty quickly.

Sorry to **** on your parade but this is wrong. A lot has changed in the past few years - good people (not just on the pitch) have left and not been sufficiently replaced. As confirmed by Guan and Ericb, the money is not there for pay rises and assuming that that means we are taking people on at a lower rate (how can you expect to get the best, when you don't pay what they deserve). Of course Les, Kat, Ralph, Gao don't want to go down, it would be stupid to suggest they do however, the clubs (owners - well at least the last ones) prerogative is to spend as little of their own money as possible and turn a profit each year. Unfortunately that business model doesn't work and combined with reducing quality of staff, will always catch up with you. When people like Guan (I am not sure of his agenda, but believe he is a saints fan and is clearly very well informed) come on here and essentially call for the Chairmans head, it is rightly time to be concerned.
-
Cortese would have had little to no say in who Kat sold us to - I'm sure he would have put forward his recommendations, although from what i'm led to believe they have no relationship at all, so I very much doubt she would have listened. Cortese done many good things whilst at the club (mostly on the pitch as he pretty much ****ed everyone off, off it) and would be the perfect man to come in if our new owners had a never ending supply of money and he wasn't such a ****. People can want / pray for him to return as much as they like (it won't happen), the reality is, he'd still have the same amount of money to spend as who we currently have in charge.. and lets be honest not all his decisions were good ones (Osvaldo, Gaston). I do agree that we need someone to come in and take charge of the situation - Les and Ralph both have far to much power to do as they please and have practically no one to report in to. As long as they are making money, the owners are happy.

Well done for isolating and therefore taking out of context...if you’re going to, care to answer the actual question?
