He’s nowhere near good enough yet and I think Ralph knows that now. Was way out of his depth vs derby and was very well protected from being personally exposed vs city
-
Ralph has almost been forced to play these kids as he has nothing else at his disposal.. I doubt we will see this Ramsay again soon as he was shocking last night imo. Johnson also is nowhere near ready to step up I do like the look of slattery on the other hand
-
So he plays him in competitive matches because he’s his mate? That makes sense... ?*♂️
-
You have to be on a wind up?
-
I think we should stick with 3 regardless. We dont have enough quality at centre back to go with 2 and we look much more solid with 3. Especially given utd’s attacking talent If Hoedt starts I don’t think i’ll bother watching
-
You, along with Always SFC and a couple of other are the most tedious posters on this forum
-
The biggest issue for me is that he is hiding. I watched him a lot vs Bournemouth and he is not making himself available, preferring to stay marked Stats say he touched the ball 25 times in the whole 90 minutes Lack of confidence I don’t know.. he is tidy on the ball but simply has to contribute more

So you want to drop Hoijbjerg who has been one of our best players for Romeu... And FYI when we play 3/5 at the back we always still have 2 CDM’s...
-
No streams apparently... Like the line up other than the fact Gallagher is missing
-
Thought he was one of our better performers at Anfield without doing anything groundbreaking.. we would struggle to sign a better RB
-
I actually agree with this. He may not be as ‘tough in the tackle’ as some would like but I think alongside someone physical it’s his best position. Doesn’t have the pace to beat players when he plays wide and isn’t a number 10 for me but still has better passing / shooting (and obviously set piece) ability than most of our midfielders He’s got much more to his game than Romeu for example (and lemina when he has an off day - which is fairly common). If we play a 3 I would like to see how PEH, JWP and Armstrong do together. Linking the play between midfield and strikers has been an issue for some time. We often end up with the midfield too far apart from the strikers by playing 2 defensive minded players in there
-
Would rather have seen us have a go 2nd half, even it meant losing 5 or 6. It was damage limitation Lemina was woeful today. 1/10 performance Not sure what yoshida has to do to get a game Should have started with 3/5 at the back IMO
-
Blog loses all credibility with your praise of Hoedt imo. Not sure what you are seeing there
-
Do we not learn our lessons? Yet again we concede from a set-piece. This zonal marking Hughes insists on is crap Hoedt is awful, as is Romeu
-
Agree re Yoshi. He needs to playing instead of Hoedt Disagree on Romeu - lemina and PEH have much more to their game It’s Hughes tactics of dropping deep, the clumsiness/panic that Hoedt brings and our set piece defending that is costing us. Possibly lack of leadership too
-
You’re comparing Hoedt with VVD? I can’t see anyone decent coming in for Hoedt regardless of how much we struggle. Let alone a top six side paying a big fee
-
Very unfair on Hoijberg. He was excellent for much of last season. Agree re Davis and Lemina JWP is better in the middle as he doesn’t have the pace or skill to play out wide and is wasted there imo. Genuinely think Harry Reed has more to his game than Romeu. Better range of passing, faster, more agile, knows how to tackle.

This. Please no Romeu

Matt Targett - Joins Aston Villa (Official)

Would much much McQueen went than Targett regardless of how much we get back. Targett a far better player -
Can’t disagree with any of that. Spot on
-
Burnley now have both Pope and Heaton out injured. Hopefully they stick with English keepers and take Forster on loan Can’t see anyone taking him on a permanent basis with his wages
-
yes but we can’t just wait and hope someone comes in for our deadwood. Surely we need to be more proactive rather than reactive. Squad size shouldn’t be a problem now, that was my point Not sure that I would agree we are ready to start the season. We are almost there but need at least another attacking option (preferably 2 - a striker and a pacy wide man)
-
What are we doing? I was feeling positive a couple of weeks ago but that has evaporated.. Welbeck? Lookman? Promes? Sisto? We need pace in attack. Now we have shifted a few it can’t still be a squad size issue surely... Have seen Kostic and Ghezzal mentioned too but nothing concrete If we stay as we are I can see another bottom half season at best
