He scored 6 in 12 games for them. He was only there for just over 2 months and they won 5, drew 2 and lost 5 with him playing, which is midtable form at best - admittedly better than bottom 4 form, but nothing to get excited about. Bournemouth 16-02-2007 22-04-2007 Loan 12 (0) 6 And I don't care how many he "almost" scored. He didn't score 15 this season and a chunk of the ones he did score were penalties.

God, are people still using consoles ? I don't think I've played a game in months, and I've got 4 or 5 still in the shrinkwrap (including Xmas 2007's Skate and Bioshock, FFS !!!). I appear to have had a life of some kind. Worrying. -

That's because I was in Nottingham. -
He was a bloody good player in Div3 in 2000/1... it's nice to see that after one season of kids not being the greatest thing since sliced bread we're all set to cave into the the smallmindedness of signing has-beens that used to be good for us (or sometimes not even that) before everyone else realised they were now past it. Actually, ALL the conversations about who we should be signing are moot until we know 1) If we exist 2) Who owns us and how much money we have to spend 3) Who accepts new contract offers 4) Who actually wants to sign for us, languishing on minus 10 and all that...

I don't need any more motivation, trust me, I've already got former teammates as about half the opposition ! -

If only it was based in fact and used by more than one person. Anyway, I thought this match was for Saints Fans, Chelsea boy..? -
In that case he's to blame for Saints AND Newport County (who had played 1 drawn won lost one in original Div 2 when war broke out [i think the draw was against Saints, actually], then relegated embarrassingly down to the bottom two divisions forever more when peace took over in 1945). Damn, and to think I used to like the guy. Ok, not really.

Terrible clearance in the first place though, I may have lost a yard or two of pace since then too. Or my legs might have already have gone by then, it was 5 and a half years ago and it's difficult to remember. The "quick throw" goal was all down to their defence being half asleep on the half way line, I'd been calling for it for about 5 seconds before I actually made the run... nice throw from Minty too. -

I think that's a really good idea, especially as I'll be telling everyone what to do for 45 minutes anyway, I don't need no stinkin' armband ! -
We could always try Lloyd James there... I can't see him getting any offers from anyone else.

Is that the Comingues who has been playing for Cardiff City all season ? Oh I'm sure he'd love to drop down a division and take a pay cut. Ifil I'd agree with, except he's potentially Colchester's record signing (depending on appearances) and hasn't played for their first teamsince November anyway, presumably due to injury as he's not played for their reserves either. We really do need to get this slightly mental "they'd sign for us, of course they would" attitude out of our heads... at least until we get taken over by a Warren Buffet and Carlos Slim Helu consortium.

Far be it from me to perpetuate a thread that's regurgitating one which was argued to death less than a week ago, but do you not think a club being penalised at the start of the season might find it much more difficult to attract good players with ambition than a side who only find themselves losing the points when the season is all but over and when there's no possibility of signing new players anyway - irrespective of the debts the clubs might have in addition ? Who the hell would have agreed to sign for Luton this season other than the naive or the desperate? They were all but relegated before a ball was kicked -and the only thing keeping Bournemouth competitve was another club (Rotherham?) having a deduction near the amount they had making their task slightly less difficult and giving them some hope of survival. Stockport's deduction is within the rules (unbalanced though they are), and it also won't harm them next season - should Saints exist next season we'll be disadvantaged in trying to attract new players, Stockport might not have any cash either, but they won't have to fork out over the odds to attract players of the quality they want due to potentially being relegation favourites either. All of this is assuming they don't get additional CVA-based deductions, which are also chronically badly managed by the FL due to thecrippling effect they have on clubs recovering from Admin - and should have been looked at at least 3 or 4 years ago when HMRC stopped agreeing to CVAs. It's preposterous that an Inland Revenue policy on Company Liquidation can cause teams to have to start with a five defeat handicap, especially when HMRC haven't agreed to ANY CVAs since about 2005 and everyone has been punished for it. This is the REAL problem, that the League haven't considered this change alongside the 10 point deduction, when the League's last rule change actually coincided with the legal change and was ignored.

I'm quite looking forward to getting everyone stood on the pitch in something resembling our formation during the warm up so I have the foggiest clue who's going to be where - and then 5-10 minutes knocking a few passes around to see who can and can't play and figure out how we're going to work around it within the parameters of what people have paid for... Oh, and for the record I will be warming up in the flint shorts and MY flint socks and a Saints training top, without shinpads and then going back in to put on the shirt and pads and newly purchased flint socks for kickoff. Might just spend ten minutes whacking the ball up in the air and controlling it too, to see what the bounce is like. Not that I've been planning this or anything... Getting a little bit excited now, ridiculously enough. -
Yes thanks, even during a recession. And the only three professional clubs that went to the wall last time there was a recession (with a lot less money in football generally) were all fourth tier or lower. I dare say someone's already said we don't so much as have £30m debt as £6m debt and a mortgage.

I always bring a couple of blue Powerades or red Lucozade Sports anyway, might have a spare seeing as I'm only down to do 45. Bottle of Ribena would be nice... Cranberry and Pomegranate ? -
Having been teetotal until I was 24 and then scored a hat-trick in a County League match (including a dribble from my own half) the day after my first adult drunken sesh (I had 16 bottles of alcopops and got dragged out of bed by a teammate called Rambo 30 minutes before kickoff and threw up three times during the game) I can relate to that kind of "best match hungover" stuff. However, aside from the difference in pro/semi pro football and the responsibility to your employer, the point is that players who don't maintain the necessary dietary requirements can't sustain the highest level their bodies are capable of or perform to the best of their ability over a longer period of time, but one-off fluke performances are still possible despite this, just as being fit and sober doesn't guarantee a good performance. Surely the point here is that none of them is playing for Saints any time soon anyway, and it's not like it's going to affect their pre-season, so who cares ?
-
What's your point ? We got relegated over a week ago, and they haven't got another match... well, ever at the moment.

What's the football situation ? I know you've got at least ONE pristine match ball... -
Gasmi's quite decent actually, skilful, puts effort in, creative too. But he's a loanee, isn't he ? - EDIT, and leaving. Oh well. Smith is one footed and shoite, like a bloody terrible version of Fabrice Fernandes. Already found his level and now dragging the rest of the club down to it. Pulis is just "meh" and I hope I never have to see him in the first team. All indications are that he brings nothing, though I don't think I've seen him play. Pekhart was and is miles better than McGoldrick in touch, distribution, heading, awareness and speed, with much quicker feet, all of which he showed on his debut, but he clearly got p1ssed off with McGoldrick getting games ahead of him and getting shunted out wide and stopped trying. Molyneux didn't look very good in the one match I've seen him either, but that's not much to go on.
