    Chaplow

It was mentioned elsewhere, but yeah, fair point.
  2. Well no, because he's just confirmed they're still the same, both not self-interested. This is not a difficult argument to follow.

Best wishes to Chaplow and his family after this, good luck with the injury recovery too.
  4. Oh b011ocks ! We certainly didn't have any striking alternatives to Lambert, or if we did we didn't use them !
  5. Sounds like a criticism that can be aimed at all national managers, and nothing to do with Saints at all. It's easy to predict that a twice-promoted team isn't going to stay up - my favourites for relegation next season at the moment are the three promoted clubs for a start, and we don't even know who one of them is yet ! Along with Sunderland...
  6. It is of course cobblers - if anything a footballer manager (current) is in a worse place to make judgement because they have too much information at their disposal and too many biases and relationships with people still involved in the process, and it's easier to make overall judgements from a high level view. Of course there's a flip side, knowing how the likes of Steve Clarke is suited to management could be an advantage...
  7. They have a waiting system if you get past the "operators busy" message, or at least used to.

    Rock Paper Scissors ?
  9. I'll refrain from commenting until I've seen what I said on the SaintsWeb season preview, which I think mentioned both Swansea and West Brom struggling under new managership. Tbf though, we all knew that was going to be wrong after a couple of games. At least I didn't continue that delusion all season like Lawrenson, whose predictions, done on a WEEKLY basis, if compiled into a league saw QPR top half and Swansea relegated.
  10. What was wrong with the thread about this that started yesterday ?
  11. For the Lolz, the Beeb has printed Lawrenson's prediction league for the season, if the results had been how he predicted, QPR would have been top half, and we'd have stayed up ahead of Swansea on goal difference. Such ignorance.

  13. No, the club will hold it in November.
  14. There are plenty of CDAJFUs based on this season, but there are a few who are starters who should be cover...
  15. Have we got that success/fail list for the papers running yet ?
  16. Wasn't the Mail Lowe's chosen leak-route ? Or was that the Telegraph ? I can't remember now.
  17. I suspect Ormerod would pay us for a game now, watched him miss a couple of sitters at Wembley the other week when Wrexham lost the Conference Play Off Final, very kind of him to pay all those Newport fans back for knocking us (!) out of the FA Cup in 2001/2 with Blackpool, the week before signing for Saints. My guess is in line with the cost of signing Ramirez, and the kind of players we'll need to be signing in order to move towards the Chairman's stated goal of top 6 football. Why I believe this as a football fan who's heard it all before everywhere else, I don't know. But Cortese's record of delivering on his promises of league success are to be treated seriously, even if we all realise what a massive gap that is at the moment.
  18. Martin Samuel being furious just because Saints don't grant him an audience, or some other reason ? Some shreds of truth but a lot of jumps in logic and grouping of very different types of management styles into "ones where owners are in charge". I'm no Cortese-lover but it's not like we even know for sure any of this wasn't just Cortese manipulating the fans to remind us of what we've got and both sides had already had the deal with the Liebherr Trust in hand.

Like 1982 second Group stages and many Copa America group stages too.
  20. Stats tell their own story : 84% Pass Success 72% 24% Aerial Success 76% 63% Possession 37%
  21. When you come from the area of Newport that Pulis comes from, everyone you know who wears a suit only wears it in court. Owen touched the ball twice near the half way line, two five yard passes - and air kicked a cross near the 6 yard box which whoscored.com have listed as a "shot". I don't think we were anywhere near 4 goals better than them today, and it's precisely that kind of lack of concentration that gets punished. Allowing Stoke free crosses down the wing was asking for trouble.
  22. That's in the next week then.
  23. Monk's comments about the tech analysis room at Staplewood are what makes me think Astori's in the pipeline too.

MLG posted the rules above. "the Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board."
  25. I don't think so.
