  1. Pretty sure even at the time we were saying the preconditions and the existence of Chainrai's offer made it very unlikely the Council was actually going to need to stump up any cash and as it was a bit of a no-win situation (do you upset the genuine tax-payers or the football club fans ?) they just agreed to do something that would never come to pass with money they didn't need to produce. ..and as such confirmed they were in precisely the right city.
  2. Siena's away shirt is red with white diamonds on the side (they beat Lazio in the Coppa Italia on ESPN live this afternoon) worried that'll be it now ! Incidentally, I think this is the LATEST that we've started the "new kit thread" in the last 3 years.
  3. Needs a black collar, and maybe black sleeve blend. Oh, and that stupid white bit around the aap3. Nice work though, I expect to see it trumpeted on twitter as "SAINTS NEW KIT!!!!!!1One!!" about 10 times in the next 6 months.
  4. Re: the adidas kits, they're all the exact same template (as is Stoke's also striped away kit) and I just can't see how they could do anything decent for us that didn't look like one or the other of Stoke/Sunderland without NOT being stripes. Here's the current (note, not 2013/14) Ajax kit - also the same basic adidas Climacool style, all material pieces in the same place, same trim, same shoulder shape, only difference is a slightly different collar. Adidas is akin to renting out your uniqueness as a club nowadays, they're pretty low on my wishlist.
  5. Ah, it was Birmingham, was it ? Thought it was London - possibly as that's where I was when I was told. Cheers for clarifying - as I know we'll have heard it from the same person!
  6. If they shift 1898 of those I'll be stunned. Especially as apparently they're £10 a chuck (or "free" if you believe the spiel).
  7. The facts : Saints' kit deal runs out at the end of the season, and Umbro basically don't exist any more, having been bought by Nike, who took their best contracts and then sold off the brand name. So, as they can't sign a new contract with Umbro, even though a few teams are still getting new Umbro styles, Saints are pretty unlikely to be wearing Umbro next season. That said, unlike Man City and England, we didn't have a valuable long-term contract to take over, so there's no more likelihood of Saints wearing Nike than any other brand, until we hear of the club signing a new deal. So... with all that in mind, this thread is for any brand's 2013/14 styles, pointless speculation and general Saints-related kit yakkery... Starting with Nike's 2013/14 Barcelona striped efforts : These would look pretty decent in red and white with black trim - I don't even dislike the "gradated" effect on the sleeves, better than the one on the front of the Barca shirts this season. Puma's first offering for Plymouth here http://www.pafc.co.uk/news/article/the-2013-14-kit-the-options-470777.aspx would look horrible, but 2 and 3 would probably be ok with plain stripes. A dubious Brazilian Arsenal website is claiming his very plain away for them (assuming they don't jump to adidas as claimed elsewhere)... anything like this would be alright provided it had "normal" stripes, IMO. Oh, and Rochdale have already decided their Fila kit for 13/14 as well. Ho hum. Find it yourselves.
  8. That is the gist of my argument, to be fair. I readily admit to being a year or so ahead of the sheep on this one though.
  9. I'm so scared of wearing the wrong thing I'm going to watch a conference match instead. Ironically it's in corporate so there's a dress code.
  10. Spudgun should be honoured.
  11. Very perceptive of you. But it's more the lumpy head.
  12. And when we played the barely-competent Liverpool with all those "improvements" present ? We got utterly stuffed. So no, the only change is that we're playing teams we're more likely to beat.
  13. I now have it VM Anytime working on my laptop, includes all Sky channels I'm subscribed to. You can only register 2 devices at a time but you're allowed to make a few changes a month. You can also set one of your devices as the primary one. You can also register up to 9 users from the basic VM TiVo account, of which any 4 can be registered with active Anytime logons at any one time. As yet, no Android app, I think there's an iOS one though. You can only watch live or on demand stuff, and as far as I can tell, you can't access anything you've recorded on your box - unsurprisingly.
  14. I have it running on the laptop, does everything except allow you to reorder your series links and (rather a biggie) doesn't actually show you the programmes. I'm sure they have it coming, I'm also pretty sure it will only be available for non-Sky channels. Currently considering messing about with my second TiVo box which is upstairs and has never been used as we only have one decent tv, I will then be able to use the extra 1TB for storing more programmes and watching them via the "master" box in the lounge - though as there's no connection between Box 2 and either the hub or the first box at the moment that either means a recabling job to get the "upstairs" cable into the lounge, or a powerline using the electrical socket from the lounge to the spare bedroom. I guess there's an outside possibility I could stream to/from box 2 wirelessly as well, haven't begun to think about that option.
  15. Not sure whether he's already posted about it on here, but a mate of mine works for a company who are dealing with the property developer, and he's about to sell some land in London(?) for development, which presumably would be where the funding would come from. He also pointed out to me that (and I haven't been in here enough recently to have seen it) apparently Guided Missile posted a load of stuff about all this property guy's businesses being worth nothing in the accounts, but actually that's for tax reasons and he has fairly significant personal wealth from taking the profits out of the company by paying himself a management fee. So it seems (I assume it is) Robinson has got some cash, but is waiting on a specific deal to go through. The implication being that's what the delay is. Either way, a few million here and there isn't going to get them very far in football, it's a billionaire's game at our level now. Oh, he did also mention that the net worth individuals were stumping up a hundred thousand quid or so a week to stop them from being insolvent though, so not all bad news. Apologies if this has already been mentioned...
  16. He probably can, but why would he choose to become a big lunk who doesn't run ?
  17. I think 6 or 7 points is mid-range. A very outside chance of us getting 12-15, getting only 0-2 is pretty unlikely as well though. Slightly lower than half way between 0 and 15 due to the dominance of aways and having Arsenal at home, but Sunderland home should be a home win and all of the aways offer a reasonable chance of a win. These are the kind of games in which we'll determine whether we're in a relegation battle or boringly lower mid-table.
  18. If nothing else, this thread has made me want to be a Tube train driver a little bit.
  19. I think Pogrebnyak would suit our style a lot better than theirs (apart from anything he might see the ball occasionally). I actually think he's a very decent player and hoped we'd have signed him, but something's just not clicking for him there. Maybe he has Saganowskitis.
  20. Nice try, but I can see you have potato sympathies and are trying to ascribe your offence elsewhere.
  21. I shall be using "spud" from hereon in. Surely no-one can complain about being liked to the honest, bland, upstanding, ugly, solid, lumpy, wholesome potato or sharing its advanced intellectual capacity ? Spud, Spuddie and Spudulike (that's spud-ooh-lick-uh, not spud-you-like) are the future. Strange how people can ascribe enough meaning to "mongtard" to be offended though, it's a completely made up word.

I don't think we need a new left back now.
  23. Same as they are now, heck of a job, nice bloke. If you'd asked me in May 2010 if I'd have taken 17th in the Prem in May 2013 I'd have had your arm off, and we'd already won the JPT and shown we were a likely 2011 League One top side by then. If you'd asked me in September 2009 if we could even BE in the Prem 3 years later I'd have removed most of your bodily parts.
  24. I'm not going to the Sunderland match because my dad's forked out for a corporate box for 10 people for a Conference match 100 miles away, so I'm effectively trading in a pre-paid Saints ticket for a pre-paid Conference one based on the availability of a tray of sandwiches. I'm not out of pocket on the tickets, but I'm still £10 down overall on petrol I have to pay out for the trip. Therefore my answer is that Saints have to give me £10 and a warm finger buffet to get me to go. Realistically though I think about £28 - if it includes free public transport to and from the match as that's a factor for me now.
