  1. I remember how convinced people were that we wouldn't get promoted this time two years ago
  2. It's pretty obvious that we find it hard to break teams down when they sit back against us. Add a proper striker and a goalkeeper to that game and we probably would have won
  3. If we called it a 3-4-3 then maybe people would get it a bit more. There might also be a case for a full back to go into the back three to make it more attacking (Roerslev?). As has been done many times in the past, e.g. Gary Neville for England. I think Ryan Bertrand did it for us previously?
  4. There's always West Ham to solve that problem
  5. The club have all the power. Local journalists are totally reliant on them for access and stories, so they can't rock the boat too much. And to be fair, why would they allow a local journalist to undermine the confidence of a fragile goalkeeper? It's counterproductive.
  6. People like to dismiss stats but if a 20yo striker has 10 goals in 29 games in Bundesliga 2 then they're going to have to improve a lot to step up to the Championship. At best he's a long term project, more likely just a bad signing
  7. He's hungry apparently, posted this a few days ago: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSX6mbljQpP/?igsh=MW5reTZ6dm10a3dmYQ== Honestly I think he's one of the few players who could have made a difference off the bench against Coventry - he badly lacks end product but can go past players like they're not there, which is useful against a team parking the bus
  8. I kind of thought the club was quite stat driven but did that stop a few years ago? Is the fabled Black Box a thing of the past?
  9. I think we had a limited budget and decided to strengthen other parts of the squad
  10. I'm not saying it will definitely happen but the club will be doing the right thing to delay a decision and the player will of course be hoping for the best
  11. The club will no doubt see if he can prove his fitness in the second half of the season before making a decision. His last hope is that he can stay fit if his minutes are managed - remember he played three games in a week before his latest setback
  12. Bear in mind that Charlie Kelman scored 21 goals for Orient last season and has managed two for Charlton in the Championship this year
  13. They achieved their objective of getting a big pay day. People on here will tell us it was worth it because he could get a career ending injury any time and needed to chase the money. He clearly should have stayed with us for a season
  14. There wasn't anyone to pass to most of the time because Coventry had parked the bus. It was actually players waiting for an opportunity rather than playing a pass to would inevitably fail. Either that or a lack of movement off the ball
  15. Downes seemed to win every 50/50 tussle he was involved in second half. Thought he was useful
  16. I wonder if there's anything to be said about 1) the quality of fitness following Still's preseason and 2) the intensity the players are playing in the first half of games
  17. You can say this of any manager/team: we may have done well against weaker teams but we will find it harder against the stronger teams.
  18. Be specific about who we should have brought in. I was sceptical about hiring someone so unproven but also not enthused by any of the other names being put forward. In that context you might as well go for the guy who is winning almost every game (by wide margins a lot of the time)
  19. You have to believe that a 32 year old manager in his first major job might be able to learn and improve their in game management
  20. Now we have a manager who can get the team performing without a big target man, hopefully he can get a tune out of Cam. There's talent there
  21. For years and years we've made the same mistake of thinking you don't have to spend more on the striking position than others
  22. What makes it so hard is sometimes things go well for a caretaker but as soon as they become permanent manager the dynamic changes.
  23. Unless the board are losing faith in Spors, in which case they may decide to take more control
  24. It did say something that we played well when we had the motivation of playing against Liverpool
  25. To be fair, there were A LOT of people on here who couldn't see that. He was getting slaughtered
