  1. I do have a worry that he will never fulfill his potential. But we've got to stick with him in case he does. And it's only really his final ball that's the issue, he's beating his man regularly (I wasn't able to watch the Huddersfield game)
  2. Tella is at his peak ability, whereas Sulemana could develop into a top player and be worth much more than anyone was willing to pay last summer. We definitely sold the right one
  3. It's hard for the fans but honestly it's best that Burnley spend their resources sensibly rather than splurging £20m on Tella
  4. We have another 20+ games to go this season that are more likely to be like the last 10 than the first 7. So the league table should look increasingly better for us. That may still mean playoffs of course
  5. Yeah i don't think we're the finished article but it seems silly to take stats over a 17 game timeframe when we're clearly a better team now than in the first part of the season
  6. We remain top of the form table over the past 6 games
  7. 10 goals in our last 10 games is another way of looking at it. Only Leicester, West Brom and Cardiff have conceded less
  8. I'd loan in an ageing Premier League striker rather than rely on Ballard
  9. I'd let him go on loan for the second half of the season, get some games. We'd have to replace Che if he leaves though
  10. Remember when Yoshida was clocked as our fastest player back in the day? On that basis I'm going for someone totally unexpected, like Aribo
  11. They only gave Ginola 17 caps so who knows how they'd have treated Matt
  12. Transfer speculation was always fun (in my time anyway). It's just now it's all crammed into two short spaces of time
  13. Maybe things are different now but it's worth remembering that last time we got relegated from the Premier League, we did better in our second Championship season than our first. So I'm not sure it's all or nothing, although obviously better to get promoted this year if we can. One nightmare scenario that is in my mind is if Man City, Chelsea and Everton all get relegated for financial irregularities. Then we'd have a heck of a job getting promoted, unless they get relegated and a points deduction in the Champ
  14. There is talk that parachute payments will be reformed. There's certainly a lot of clubs who think they give an unfair advantage
  15. I had forgotten until recently that the last time we were looking to bounce back to the Premier League after relegation, we sold Niemi, Walcott, Ormerod, Delap, Quashie and Fernandes all in the January window. We picked up 1 win in 9 after that point, not that we had been going great beforehand. Hopefully we got our sales out of the way in the summer this time, but I do wonder if there will be any more disappointments to come - have we recouped the money we wanted? Will we stand in KWP's way if he gets a big offer? Being optimistic, Che might leave and be replaced, but i don't see too much other action. I think we'll keep faith with Manning. Maybe some random youth players will come in.
  16. We should have the same points as Leicester and 10 more than Ipswich. Anything else is a failure
  17. He seems to be starting in the Europa League but hasn't got more than 20 minutes in a league game. He'll get his chance at some stage I'm sure
  18. Give the guy a break. His confidence and actual abilities has been shattered by playing at a shitshow like Everton and it can take time to turn something like that around
  19. Yes I thought Che looked motivated today
  20. I'd honestly just give him a few minutes at the end, get back into things
  21. A manager can put in the players that he thinks are the best, but sometimes it takes time to work out the right balance across the team as a whole. Bree's more defensive approach is working and Martin seems to have recognised that
  22. You've got to like the consistency in team selection at the moment. Feels like we haven't had this for a long time
  23. When a man is tired of Saintsweb, he is tired of life
  24. It seemed last season like Ten Hag was starting to get the best out of players like Rashford and Wan-Bissaka who had stagnated under the previous poor management. But the signings have been shocking and I'm not sure calling players out publicly is the way to go
  25. On the angle behind the goal you see what a smart finish it was. I'm not sure many of our other players would have guided that in
