  1. So we should only sign strikers who are proven in the Premier League over the past year? That's a high bar
  2. He was Champions League quality in that season when he scored 22 goals
  3. I think the thing that's getting missed a bit is that whatever system we play, a lot of teams are going to sit back against us. We're now a big fish in this league. It's been a complaint under previous managers that we can't break teams down when they come to defend, hence our poor home form. And I don't think the first half against Coventry would have been much different if we were playing a counter attacking system as you can't counter a team that doesn't come forward. What would help is a clinical striker who can find space in a crowded area
  4. It's really not a given though that you can lose so many players and start winning immediately. Leicester did, and well done them. Generally though it's difficult and in our case we needed time to gel
  5. I know this isn't rational but I look at their prices and think 'can they really be that good'?
  6. I think this is overplayed to be honest. How will Shef Utd, Luton and Burnley do next season if they come down? This season is just a freak where you've got three big teams with financial backing on top of the parachute payments
  7. I do agree with this
  8. We had a tough fixture today but the fact is that we're matching the top teams, we just had a poor start while they hit the ground running
  9. His injury at the end of the Bristol City game came from an absolutely lung-busting recovery run. It was terrific work
  10. In some ways nothing has changed. He's a good support striker for a more traditional centre forward but not great at being the main man leading the line. We don't play two up front anymore so his weaknesses are being shown up. Obviously his form also dipped badly after he didn't get a move so that hasn't helped
  11. Glad we didn't terminate his contract
  12. For most of this season I've felt that although he's been decent, he hasnt really been tested or made any real high quality saves. But the last couple of games he has been genuinely brilliant. It's great to see him fulfilling his potential and hopefully it continues
  13. Mara was really good in his cameo. It was one of those days when every player looked great
  14. How do Blackburn keep finding these prolific goalscorers but still finishing outside the playoffs?
  15. Today gave me some optimism that with a run in the side, Che could get his form back
  16. I enjoyed these comments on the highlights of the Leeds game
  17. My only other thought was he's reading this forum. Clearly criticism from somewhere has got to him
  18. If the top 6 all continue their current form to the rest of the season then they'll have the following points: Leicester 110 Ipswich 104 Leeds 97 Saints 96 WBA 94 Hull 89 Won't happen obviously
  19. He dropped him for several games
  20. That's exactly what we need! Someone to find a yard in the box, get on the end of a cross and score a tap in
  21. No doubting his finishing but he's not a big presence up front. We need Ross fit and firing. Martin hasn't been given the tools that Adkins was
  22. No i can't say it was convincing, but:
  23. Martin is still waiting for his quality finisher to be fit. We're painfully lacking a big presence up front
  24. We're unbeaten in nine games, we've dropped six points from the last 27, is it really realistic to think we ought to be doing better? If our form drops then sure, we can start aking questions again, but it's a bit premature based on one draw with Huddersfield
