The list is endless but number one for me would be beating Liverpool 4-1 at The Dell, great attacking football with a side stuffed full of youngsters. Another not to be forgotten game was beating Wolves 9-3 , scoring stopped after 60 mins.

Found a tube of smarties helped with off side rule

Eldest went to Dell at 6 years old and has had season ticket ever since Youngest to St Marys on opening day season ticket holder since You need lots of patience and lots of little mind games to convince them that supporting local team live is better than supporting United or Chelsea.

True if it was a written survey

Was a mistake to play Williams BUT in that season we went to Fratton in front of 36000 and won, silly thing was I believe we went the rest of the season after the semi undefeated

Totally agree with OP i find it easier to go to the Ticket Office than find details online

No Ifs, No Buts, We Have To Win Tomorrow To Go 2nd!!!
70's Mike replied to dannysfc's topic in The Saints
A win would be nice , a draw not to bad only time we have to go second as at the final whistle of last game. -
Always remember doing that at Ipswich, did they get a shock when they realised Saints fans were both sides of them

Always makes me chuckle that as long as there was a pub we would put up with any inconvience, suppose we were the generation which meant alchol on coaches was eventually banned. My boys struggle to believe we took 10000 to those games and that you all paid on the turnstiles

Always had to remember that when my 2 were growing up, Andy, good news is there 23 and 16 now so can look after old man.

But your not a good singer

Only stat that matters from now on is a big fat W against Southampton's name. Time for the tough to get going and the younger fans experiencing a promotion for the first time to hold their nerve and believe
-
i have the opinion that when the attendance is slightly below average that it is the "hardcore" and that the volume of support is real support , whereas higher the attendance the team has to be doing well for the support to flow.

Since our last promotion Everyone just has to believe and hold their nerve in every game Wish I was same age, trips to Luton, Fulham and Orient were special days
-
Funny how we keep winning

Ted Bates must be best value for money and most important, followed by Terry Paine

not sure if now is the time to gamble

Life has changed, football in the late 60's, 70's and 80's was about the community of Southampton and its supporters, we all came together, many of us from the large council estates around the city to support our club, yeah we may have kicked lumps out of each other during the week but when Saturday came we were all Saints against the big boys. There were very few all ticket games, no all seater stadiums. if you went to away games you had to stick together or risk physical injury. Football was for the people not TV. Were they better days , probably not but I for one made friends who I still speak to 40 odd years later

Many of us old boys including messrs Wilson and Jewitt sit in one block in the Chapel. As for the Soul Cellar thread they were good memories of how life was then, not neccesarily correct or right, but as it was
