  1. IN Answer to the op those games are all winnable some of the stars have to earn their keep
  2. Suppose the issue with those you mentioned, who i agree may be strong characters, is what have they actually achieved in the game to make younger players respect them
  3. think the words" at least should be" are key
  4. a big question also would NC pay wages needed for player required
  5. you may be right, i suppose if the player had won things and was respected because of this playing style then it might work, for instance would a Paul Scholes need time to command authority and motivate. I accept that the world has changed since Ball and Case did the job at SFC but players like that do exist, QPR picked up Shaun Derry , not the purists cup of tea but for every violonist you need a drummer.Bournemouth have Steve Flecher, or whatever his name is, Chaplow is still a young man
  6. don't remember you being there that day
  7. Agree with Duncan We should be looking for a 30 year old plus midfield player, who can tackle and pass the ball nothing spectacular just a man who hates to lose but more importantly knows how to win I know that will offend some of the purist fans on here but we lack real drive in the engine room
  8. Terrible news
  9. For years we used to walk home saying we lost BUT played well I am enjoying this we played poorly BUT won Long may it continue Good subs by NA today
  10. happy days
  11. Answer to original question is about 70 miles through fish land
  12. Thing i remember was a game at The Dell, when he moved from the dug out to sit on the cinder track in front of the East Stand to gee the players up. of course the shorts and short sleeved shirt in all weathers
  13. Marsden was good but not really in same league as Ball, Williams, Case or Armstrong. Other name not mentioned but anchored midfield when he played there was Nick Holmes
  14. Just THE TRIANGLE, to me
  15. Slightly unfair to Benali There is more to winning football matches than guile and passing, shot blocking, tackling, heading of the line, without the likes of Benali and Dodd doing that many of MLT's goals would have still not earned us points, Sometimes in the beautiful game some players have to do the ugly jobs
  16. Always rated him but he needed the rest to perform to have a good game, rarely was he outstanding when we lost, could not turn a game around like really great midfield players
  17. Welcome back John
  18. bad news
  19. Sums it up for me. We just got on with supporting the club, I suppose big difference in those days was the Club was stable from top to bottom until Branfoot. Yes Managers got stick but that was based purely on results on the pitch. Lets face it few of the younger generation could have copied with the toilets and old tea bar at the Milton Life has changed and Forums like this change but no one should believe that forums always reflect the wider fan base
  20. plus travel costs to Manchester
  21. This represents all i detest in football, discussions about bl**dy chairman, had enough of that from 97 to 2007
  22. Not going to get to upbeat about under 18's, we have had good sides before at that level and it improved the First Team How?
  23. This Kid ?
  24. think it is houses. hence the glass backing , it was all about light being deprived if they built any higher
  25. cheapshot supporting the club NOW and remembering past servants of the club who gave us our best ever years, men who took us out of the skates shadows and gave us 50 years of being top dogs on the south coast, are not choices you can do both
