Well Cedric, Long and Yoshida are all out of contract and at least two of those big wages will go. Chances are we can shift Forster and possibly Lemina, even if we have to accept less than we paid. Carillo is a write off - he has one year to go so will just be loaned out again. If we wanted to then we could get money for Adams and Boufal and Vestergaard may have a market. Elyounoussi and Hoedt probably the toughest to shift. I also think this summer could be the one where someone comes in for JWP and if PEH doesn't re-sign then we need to sell him. So really it should be the summer that we have needed for 2 or 3 years. Its a shame that the recruitment person won't be in place until the summer has already started though.

Morph was an interesting one. All IMHO of course.

Doh, I meant David in Sweden. Gets so confusing with all the Dave's, Duncan's and Ron's of this world!
-
Most of the best posters no longer post and you can see why. I would add Eric in Sweden to the list.

They played OWTSGMI over the tannoy before kick off vs Wolves. Can't remember that before? Had shades of the awful My Way song.

In todays presser RH basically said unless we have an option to sign a player permanently posy loan, then there is no point loaning til the end of the season. I would tend to agree. He said we are still looking for the right package.

https://as.com/futbol/2020/01/19/primera/1579393831_802274.html?id_externo_rsoc=CM_ES_TW Set to join Celta Vigo for €10m according to AS. If true, interesting as he doesnt really fit Hasenhuttl's style but is a reliable option who would need replacing within the squad. Also seems like a top guy and a bit of a throwback footballer whose life extends beyond Instagram, Dubai and getting Smoked.

What job would Romeu have done on Traore (who by then was playing up front)? Traore would have just bypassed him with ease, as he does most PL players when given any space.
-
Suprised by a lot of the over reactions here, given our recent form. For me we were quite fortunate to be 2-0 up at HT. Wolves were the only team in the game until our first goal and were pretty comfortable for most of the first half without creating a lot. Second half, Jimenez and Traore killed us with their physicality, which they have done to better teams than us, whilst we know our defenders have a weakness against powerful forward one ve one. Good tactical shift by Nuno to get Traore further up the pitch - he is unplayable at times. We have had a great run, but are far from a great team, which we all know. Need to get something against Palace otherwise our good run will likely become 3 league defeats in a row post Liverpool.

Good business if we can get a decent fee for a player who is beyond his best. If he won't sign a new deal then we should sell in the summer. I hope, with a good Manager, that finally this coming summer can be the change we have needed for a while. Good chance to get rid of the wages/generate a fee for: Cedric Yoshida Bertrand Elyounoussi Forster Hoedt Lemina Boufal Romeu (possibly) Long (possibly) Gove Ralph a chance to shape a squad of his own, a year and a half into his tenure.

Have you actually watched yesterdays Press Conference? The one where Ralph, clearly and unprompted, says the finance is there to do something if we decide to.
-
He has been a good option for us over a long time and seems like a great guy. Unfortunately though, he was utterly spineless in the Leicester game and has rightly been ditched since then. Alongside Austin away at Fulham it was one of the laziest performances I have ever seen from a senior player at Saints and quite rightly he has been ditched since then. Sad way to end a memorable Saints career for him.
-
Its glandular fever apparently. Which can he horrible.
-
He also said the finance is there if we do decide to bring people in. He also admitted interest in KWP (without specifically saying so). On one hand it makes sense, no point blocking off Vokins entirely. On the other hand, after the Cup game and at the forum last week he said there he isn't ready for the PL and then today said he is developing faster than expected. Well how much has he developed in this week?! Reading between the lines I would say that clearly Cedric is going in the summer and there are always question marks over Bertrand. Its probably better to wait til the summer to get long term replacements for those two, rather than rush it now. KWP can cover LB as well as RB so he would make sense, but seems Palace are still in pole position for him.
-
Will get a sense from RH today I would imagine. In the forum last week he guarenteed we would do things in the full back areas, but we have heard it all before in previous windows..
-
KWP would be a good signing IMO. Can play LB almost as well as RB, is fast, good one vs one and still very young. We have been linked the last few windows so have probably followed him for a while. He needs game time but could develop into a good player. Has played well for the England age group teams that are of a high level. A loan with a reasonably priced option would be ideal. Bryan - as a second choice maybe, but with Vokins emerging and Bertrand a far superior player, I don't like this one. He is 26 so presumbly wants to play frequently. Fulham fans don't rate him. Hopefully his Agent is trying to drum up interest in him.
-
Personally would not be a fan of that. Don't rate him and think he isn't quick enough for the PL. Would have to question why Fulham would sell their main LB for a relatively paltry £7m.
-
Ralph to speak with KWP this week according to Pete O'Rourke: https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-player-holding-talks-with-two-pl-clubs-this-week/
-
Is Yoshida leaving in this window? Anyway, seems like its Wolfsburg for Pongracic.
-
Loan with an option, as long as the option is ours, is surely better for us? Personally don't think we will get a CB as we would be left with 5 others on senior wages.
-
Pretty clear there is a big interest from the Leeds end and a chance for Saints to get our money back if we would like to. Will be interesting to see how it develops. Although would also be costly for us to replace him, which would be a must. At the end of the day, whatever happens, I just hope Ralph is in agreement about it.
-
Well I would assume if we let him go then we would replace him in some manner. The more confusing part of the whole thing would be the idea that Ralph doesn't want to let him go but the board may sanction it. That goes against everything they portrayed at the fans forum about working closely and effectively with Ralph.

Phil Hay, very well connected Leeds correspondent of The Athletic today: Hasenhuttl wants Adams to stay, saying on Friday that Southampton would “need him in the second half of the season”, but The Athletic understands Southampton’s hierarchy are more open to letting Adams go, for a loan fee of £1 million and an obligation to sign Adams permanently for more than £10 million at the end of the season. Leeds are ready to meet those demands and Adams, who is keen to take the move to Elland Road, has been considering forcing the issue himself by informing Hasenhuttl of his desire to leave. Leeds knows the risks of internal club politics having lost Dan James to infighting at Swansea City in the last January window but they are persisting with Adams and, in a technical sense, the striker would be a very neat fit. Bielsa thought the same about Nketiah but in the end, the system Leeds use and the pressure their formation places on his centre forward accentuated Nketiah’s weaknesses.

From what I can tell just after PSG signed him they disbanded their reserve/U23 team, so Bakker had to play U19 football which was probably a level beneath him, so he needs games and has lost his NL Youth spot due to not playing. A loan only makes sense if either: A.) Its a cheap cover for Bertrand, who will play every game if fit between now and the end of the season and Bakker can get some U23 games whilst PSG figure out what to do with him. B.) it has a purchase option for the summer and gives us a chance to look at him in the U23s between now and then. Either the club see him as potentially better than Vokins as a second choice, or a potential Bertrand replacement when RB leaves. A lot depends on Bertrand's future this summer as to whether we need a backup challenger or a first choice.

Props to Semmens et al for being patient with Ralph, unlike pretty much all the other clubs who have struggled this season. Agree with the calls to give him a new contract. Brighton, Wolves and Sheff Utd have done with their Managers this season.
