  1. Seems certain there will be some new hires this summer in the support staff structure. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6934445/Everton-chief-scout-Martyn-Glover-frame-new-Southampton-head-recruitment.html Recruitment link. Sure the guy is competent, but not sure Everton and Sunderland have been known for excellent recruitment over recent years...
  2. Its not nonsense. He isn't a quick player. Nobody would ever describe Boufal as pacy.Hence why he ends up having to beat the same player again quite often. He completes dribbles with skill, nobody is denying he is a good dribbler but he isn't a fast player and countless times RH has said he wants fast players. Besides, as you acknowledge, Boufal's end product is dross.
  3. Redmond is better suited to the PL and has a better attitude. I have always rated him and now in a better structure he is playing well. He is a better player than Boufal. I would rather have someone else with different attributes rather than Boufal.
  4. Boufal has had his chance and isnt suited to the PL. He has no pace and little end product. Happy to move him on and get someone RH actaslly wants who fits the style.
  5. The Arfield story was denied by one of the Scottish papers last week after it first came out. RH has already said we will be going for younger players. That said, the overall slant of the article is probably true and hopefully we go for good young players with a few British ones (Adams, James etc) among them. Better sell on potential as well.
  6. Yes he has done well in the last two games (less so over the last two years), but he is a great example of an attacking player who has never added composure to his game despite years of coaching.
  7. Possibly. Although some players never do. See Shane Long.
  8. I feel that with Sims as a starter you lose quite a bit of control and as he is quite raw and often doesn't do the basics particularly well. Yesterday it was a good tactical decision to start him as Wolves wing backs play high and their CBs are slow so he got in good positions down the sides of their centre backs. I doubt he will start at Newcastle or Watford though,as we will probably go for the extra midfielder - which we massively lacked yesterday at times. We only gained control of the game once Romeu came on. Personal opinion is that over the course of a sample more than one game, Sims will make a better sub than starter, especially away from home. Also whilst he played well, he absolutely fluffed a very presentable chance that could have made the game virtually safe by HT, didnt hit the target with another good chance and also failed to play in Ings for a tap in. He has many good attributes but IMO lacks composure which will ultimately hold him back a bit as a starter unless he develops it, which he may well do. Great sub option though for next year and far better than Elyounoussi.
  9. Bednarek, JWP and Hojbjerg have all done well, albeit none for the entire season. Redmond has played every league game, been our best player in many and our main attacking threat in pretty much all. To come back from his situation last year shows massive character and professionalism. Without him we would 100% be relegated and for me its not a difficult decision at all: he is clearly the POTS.
  10. Excellent result - better than the actual performance but we have been due some luck. Great subs, and changing the shape worled for the goals but also made us a lot more open. Questions about JWP in a two are still valid IMO, he wasnt very good in the first half and we missed Romeu. Vestergaard very good I thought, he has really come on since the Cardiff mistake. For me Sims is a much better sub than starter, but good work for both goals. Redmomd our POTS by a country mile - hope we can keep him and extend his contract this summer.
  11. He made a great impact today. One of his best sub performances for us I think. The style suits him, and he is a good option from the bench.
  12. When fit he is certainly a very good player for a team of orur level. Woukd absolutely be keeping im next season. Pre RH in the few games we played well in, Lemina played a huge role. Will be good to see him play in a better Saints team than he has til now.
  13. Mitchell wanted by Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal according to SSN today as well as being offered an expanded role by Red Bull. Surely rules out any chance of him moving here.
  14. I doubt Adams would consider how much Everton paid for Bolasie when deciding whether to move there. Ultimately they have had two poor seasons resulting in top 10 finishes whilst we have been nearly relegated twice. That, plus higher wages on offer would make it hard to justify joining Saints over Everton (should that be the choice he has).
  15. Because pretty much anyone would pick Everton ahead of Saints. See Theo Walcott & Ronald Koeman fpr recent examples. Big investment, top half finishes even after poor seasons, new stadium on the way and ultimately: will pay bigger wages.
  16. Positive in terms of the profile of player we are targetting. I read earlier this week that Everton also want Adams. If that is the case then it will be nigh on impossible to get him, but their interest may not materialise. The two big difficulties will be: 1. Getting rid of our deadwood: Forster, Long, Austin, Carillo, Hoedt, Boufal, Clasie, Targett, McQueen etc 2. Having the same chumps negotiating with other clubs as we had in our last few failed transfer windows.
  17. The Echo says we are unaware of any additional questions, FWIW.
  18. Would arguably be brtter if we were, seeing as Gao has no cash to invest. The whole takeover was such a con.
  19. Is Augustin good? I've not see much of him, but he isn't a regular at Leipzig.
  20. Everton moving for Che Adams. Highly doubt we will get him. You tend to have a window of opportunity to get certain players and if you miss it then you have no chance. For Adams, ours was January.
  21. Mosin - why do you have to compare JWP to Redmond all the time? They both play 90mins every week. They have different roles. They are bith playing really well since RH came in, and Redmond has all season. Whats the problem?!
  22. RH said he had suffered a bit in training. There is a difference between being able to do normal everyday physical activity versus playing PL football. We all saw he had an injury. It was operated on. He came back to training. He had a minor setback. It happens all the time. It happened recently with Bertrand. Why the conspiract theories with Lemina?!
  23. Mosin - what is your opinion of the chance Redmond created for himself in the 2nd half by cutting inside, going past Matip on the outside and having his shot blocked for a corner? Was that not a chance, in your opinion, that Redmond created?! Or the one Long missed from Bertrand's cross? That was created by Redmond too...
  24. FYI - JWP and Redmond can be judged independently of each other. Its entirely possible for both of them to be good, which they have been this season. Redmond is clearly our Player of the Season (judged over the whole season), with JWP, Hojbjerg and Bednarek in the pack behind. They also: - Play in different positions and are not competing for game time - Have different set piece duties - Are totally different types of player In addition, these are one person's subjective ratings. They gave Joel Matip 8/10 when I thought he was poor. They are not facts.
  25. Bertrand back to his best and seems to be enjoying it again. Hopefully extends his contract. Excellent player in defence and attack.
