I thought we were excellent. Lack of sub options hampered us and the game swung on the Salah goal which was well taken but avoidable beforehand. We have become a good side but need some quality in attack to give RH more options.
-
Some baffling and ill informed posts on this thread, which in part highlight the problem. Rose is perfectly entitled to his view IMO. Its a shame he thinks like that, but see the first sentence of my post...

Anyone who gives Mane stick is a bit of an oddball. Great player for us, and provided lots of great memories in the best Saints team for donkeys years.
-
Cedric will be easy enough to shift I think but the others much less so. Carillo could possibly stay, surely he is a better sub option than Austin and Long? Clasie we can loan for a year until his deal is done. Boufal, Hoedt and Forster are the toughest ones as nobody will want them, including Saints. Key for me is selling the Academy lads who aren't going to make it: McQueen Targett Gallagher Reed Hesketh Jones Probably £20m of income from that lot and we won't miss them.
-
Bit early to be putting that out there but certainly the best for a while and very promising. Poch turned the team into a PL force and changed the PL perception of Saints. If RH can do similar next season then he would be of a similar level.
-
Austin least likely to start IMO.
-
Lemina not in the training pics. Wonder if he is injured again? I had expected him to make the bench on Saturday if he was fit.
-
I expect a red and white kit kit that will be bought by the same people who bought this years and last years. Hated by some, loved by others and barely considered by most once the actual season starts.
-
They clearly rate Vokins. He can be Bertrand's backup next season. Sell Targett who will never be a good PL LB. He just doesn't have that extra burst of pace that is needed, and will never have it. Whenever Targett has an extended run in the side we are always begging for Bertrand to return...and we always improve when he does.
-
Hopefully we try to extend his contract and have him finish his career at Saints. One of our best signings since being back in the PL. Should have taken Fulham's offer for Targett - we will never be offered that much again, he just isn't Pl quality as shown by our improvement since Bertrand has been back (which happens every time he returns from a spell out the team).
-
Best player on the pitch again yesterday and was the threat we had that Brighton didn't. The central role really suits him. Should have another big season next year in hopefully a better, more confident team. Easily our most consistent player this season.
-
Agree to a point. Gallagher could be useful defending set pieces. Was noticeable yesterday without Vestergaard that we are a small side. Brighton got a head on pretty much all the set pieces, defensive and attacking.
-
I don't think he will make it at Saints but some OTT stuff here. He came on when we were defending deep and it was basically him and Redmond/Sims versus their whole defence with no support. He didn't stand out but was certainly no worse than a lot of Austin's appearances. That said, the only time he had a sniff he was way too slow to play Sims in and was tackled leading to their last corner. Should have decent resale value in the summer if RH doesn't want him.
-
Sorry, assumed you were being serious with the whole 1 goal thing, which would be a ridiculous critique!
-
I doubt WiFi was the reason for us being poor under Hughes but each to their own!
-
We didn't sign him to score goals. HTH.

Seems that in ths summer we will adopt a similar model, aim to get shot of the overpaid dross that doesn't contribute, replace with some academy prospects on less cash and free up some wages for a couple of big hitters. Issues will be: 1.) Finding clubs who will buy the dross 2.) Identifying and actually signing the right big hitters. 3.) Ross Wilson But in theory its the right way to go.
-
Lemina related: Gabon failed to qualify for ACON so he will have a summer off which is good news for us.
-
Vince opened today in the warm up game. I think he will open at the start of the season to try and get into England reckoning as an opener.
-
Thoughts on the best Championship lineup? Will Vince open as the ECB want? Possibly more likely now due to the Sri Lankan not being available. In theory, a very strong lineup aside from one opening spot.
-
Definitely a good attitude. The problem is he has barely even shown a glimpse to suggest he has what it takes to succeed in the PL. But lets see...

FYI - we have an obligation to sign Ings, not an option. We loaned him to move the permanent to a different accounting year.

He is a very good player. But not a pressing player. I think we will look for someone with more mobility.
