  1. The Echo and Argus articles indicated more than just that generic comment. Presumably lots joined in with that so highly likely he was shouting worse, which significantly changes the situation.
  2. Its not about being a drip, its easy to have a good atmosphere without homophobic chants in my opinion. I was at the game and didn't join in with that chant as I disagree with it and as someone who lives in Brighton find it tired and cliched. If you did chant it then thats up to you. There are various other instances of homophobic chants to Brighton fans where people have been punished, at Leicester especially - so there is a clear precedent. The article also alludes to there being a number of chants, not just the one printed, so the content of others may have been less tasteful. Hugo Schekter, who recently came out, specifically asked Saints fans ahead of this game not to sing those chants as they are homophobic and do cause offense. We have gay supporters who might have had to stand next to this person, and would have likely taken offense at his homophobic chants. It may not offend you, nor me, but clearly would cause offense to some on the grounds of their sexuality which is nothing to do with a football match, in my opinion. There are good, witty chants at football without getting near to homophobia. If people choose to do what they are told not to, then you open yourself up to the consequences. This guy made a poor decision. Don't see what is wrong with that?
  3. They cover their mouths all the time and are trained to. The subs often do it, and loads do it after the game when cameras follow them around and they are talking to the opposition. Redmond did it on the bench during the Everton game when talking to someone, I think Austin. They, rightly, don't want private conversations being lip read by everyone. Nothing special about that. In fact you can see exactly why they do it regularly.
  4. Can't see the problem with banning someone for something that is wrong and fans were warned not to do before the game. Quite simply, in this day and age, clubs don't want these types of people as supporters. They are trying to attract a different crowd. As an aside - what a pathetic, boring, generic chant anyway - hardly showing any humour or wit.
  5. Good statement from Redmond on this, confirming he was just doing what his Manager asked for. Going back to the OP, which has been misinterpreted by some as being specifically about last nights game...do we think that maybe the reason Tadic and Redmond have struggled this season is because they have been given less license, similar to what Romeu said in the Echo. Under Pochettino, and also Koeman, we often played in a similar way against the top sides as we did against others and backed our ability. Fair enough doing what we did against City, absolutely the right decision. But against the likes of Stoke, Hudds, Brighton etc are the creative players being restricted?
  6. Are Guardiola's comment a fair one - that we have some very talented players but don't let them off the leash to play? Of course last night the approach MP took was right and nearly got us a great result, but more generally? People have been slagging Redmond and Tadic for a while (Boufal only recently has been more influential but clearly had some disagreement with MP)...maybe the way they are asked to play just restricts them and takes the natural instinctiveness out of their game? Redmond is good one v one but this season especially seems too scared of losing the ball so doesn't try anything. Boufal's improvement has coincided with trying more...
  7. Great effort, that. Manager got it spot on which bodes well.
  8. Weird lineup. What happens when they score in the first 10mins? That team will just be pushed back. How the **** does Long still get starts? He has been absolutely awful for about a year.
  9. VVD sometimes looks like he can't be bothered because ots often so easy for him. He wins so many duels. There was a stat a couple of weeks ago that since he came back into our team he had won more aerial duels than any other PL player. The type of duels Stephens and Yoshida win far fewer of, which makes it harder to clear our lines.
  10. Very impressive interview. Really hope he can come good as clearly a lot of ability there.
  11. Wouldn't sell in January for these reasons: 1. It would have been largely pointless going through the whole fiasco of the summer just to sell after he has played about 15 more games. 2. Fees are likely to be higher in the summer. 3. We could still get relegated and VVD improves our team without question. 4. Its hard to find quality players in Jan to spend the money on. 5. I wouldn't trust the club to spend it well in January as proven by the utter cluster**** we made of the CB situation last year, resulting in us grovelling to Caceres who was a complete last resort. Sell in the summer.
  12. Aa ever with JWP, nobody actually knows what his best position is, even after 5 full PL seasons. He can't play central midfield as a holder as is too slow, weak and not aggressive enough. Can't play as a no10 as isnt creative enough, quick enough or a goal threat. That only leaves the wide right role which he plays well if the RB can get forward but if they get pished back then he is ineffective as is no threat on the counter at all. If you asked him, he would say he is a central midfielder! Summary: still got a big problem knowing his best position and is good wide right when circumstances suit but not for a full season.
  13. JWP must have one of the highest amounts of undeserved recalls in PL history. Gets a game - is ****e... Dropped to the bench - comes on and is useless... Gets a start... Repeat until he is 35.
  14. Our attacking four couldn't really get more paceless if it tried!
  15. Playing with no midfielders is a great idea IMO. Can't work out why you are not a PL Manager with this kind of genius.
  16. Who the **** are you to demand to know the whereabouts of the CEO of a private company that you have no stake in?

Trying to keep it lighthearted, pal. Had enough of Derry telling everyone we should play with 11 outfield players (including no midfielders). It reminded me that we often played with nine when Jamma was involved. Top professional though, unlike Austin who seems more interested in horse racing these days, somewhat ironically given his movement. Also somewhat of an ode to the lunatic fringe that thinks being in the Championship is so much fun.
  18. Where does this lad rank in our all time list of number 10s?
  19. Lemina not in the training pics. Will be tough without him or Romeu. Wonder if we might consider 3 CBs to mask having a powderpuff midfield?
  20. What division are they in?
  21. Read the first four words again and question your sanity.
  22. For a club who promotes the Academy so much it is interesting that when we were in the relegation trouble last season a lot of first team players suddenly cropped up in the line up. The line up tonight is reserve rather than developmental. Expect more of the same to try and get promoted. Disappointing from Saints. If JWP and Hojbjerg aren't good enough to get near first team starts then get rid of them or loan them out. Don't block young players from playing which is the whole point of the U23s.
  23. Awful loan move for him, and they won't even play him up front. Feel for the lad after success last season. Nothing to suggest he will make it at Saints though.
  24. Agree. A win gives a bit of a buffer to counteract our tough run. A loss or draw puts us even more in the **** than we already are and would mean we will have to beat a top 6 side to avoid being in the bottom 3 at the end of December. Annoying not to have Romeu. Abaolutely crucial Lemina is back otherwise we are screwed.
