shite. Very disappointed with the performance and the result.

fucking stop this high line set piece shit. Seen us do it for about a month now and could easily have conceded three or four goals. we just stand there watching our opponents run in and get free headers on goal.
-
he's causing problems. I think he'll get the winner for us.

if we want to win the title, we need to win games like this. If Leicester can, anyone can.
-
games coming thick and fast. Don't want to murder those wide men that do so much.
-
Going to be tough. We score goals when there is a bit of space. Not going to be much of that.
-
Blimey. Give him a chance. he's not back to match fitness. That is obvious. When you are not super sharp the game it tough in the final third. Give it a few weeks and he will be scoring for fun again.

9 appearances then.

First half was an absolute shit show. Like the Man U game, but without the two goal cushion. Poor choices, poor passing, poor control, lack of movement, lack of ideas, headless chicken press and a great deal of luck that we were not three down having been caught of the break several times. It seems that when teams press us, we don't have the ability to beat it. Not many teams do mind you. I've seen Man City capitulate when Liverpool pressed them, so not surprising that can't cope. We just need that little extra time on the ball. Without it we get caught in possession, give the ball away and n general go backwards. When its failing so badly, the manager perhaps needs to implement a plan B, at least for a period of time. Play slightly longer and/or ping balls out wide...something to turn the opponents round a fraction. When we pressed there was certainly no lack of effort, but three players going to the same man is extremely risky and at times we got made to look mugs. Not sure what happened to change things. Ings obviously came on, and perhaps Brighton tired, but I'd like to think that it was just the team as a whole stepping up and making more effort to be open for a pass nullifying their press. It possibly was a combination of things, but mostly Brighton seemed to stop pressing. That was just what we needed (the space and time) and we played well second half, dominating possession, but also doing something with it to push them back. Ings was a factor - we just look more creative with him in the side, but the midfield and Vestegaard, with that little more time started to play forward through the lines. My MOTM was Vestegaard. He looked like Beckenbauer at times, intercepting balls and strolling out from the back, weaving in and out of players and then passing just at the right time. He even pinged balls like the great German used to do. What a display. Title wining teams win when you play badly. Mind you, so does just about everyone when playing Brighton at their place. Half way to safety...

United pressed and every single Saint failed to cope with the pressure applied by his opponent. That lead to us turning the ball over time and time again. You can't do that against good sides. We have done well so far. This is just one game. But I think it demonstrates the quality of player we have here. Some good players, but not a host of great players. We Need to bounce back quickly and ensure we are the team pressing.

struggling to get out of our own half. United pressing us. We are failing to do the same.

could have won, but lucky to get a point. McCarthy was outstanding. I'm not used to having so little to moan about, but if we are brutally honest, we didn't create much. We gave the ball away more than normal. Wolves are a half decent side with a shed load of high quality players. A point is a good one.

how many appearances does that make, is it six?
-
TV didn't show many angles. I assume VAR had a few more.

1-4 up and nervous. Villa creating quite a bit.

what a fucking goal
-
win this and we are a third of the way to survival. 🙂

seemed pretty clear to me. Cash got caught under the ball, knew it, so handled to prevent a clear goalscoring chance. That's a red in my book, but then again its hard to keep up with the changing laws of the game. JWP provided the instant justice though.

perfect situation. Jackett wins just enough games to keep him from being sacked, but not enough to take them anywhere. The longer they waste away in the lower leagues, the better.

I don't know how you keep coming up these brilliant songs, I really don't. A job in the greeting card industry beckons for sure.

Role reversal of so many Saints displays. We often dominate the first half and fall away in the second, with many a late goal against at the death. Nice to see we have the gumption to turn a game around in the second half, and nothing quite like an injury time equaliser.
-
Nice work by Josh Sims to set up the winner for Donny today. Saints players seem to enjoy themselves at shit park.

I was at that game. I don't recall that incident. I will take your word for it though, but it is easy to come away with different conclusions from the same game. I would describe Obafemi's performance in that game as "...mis-controlling when in a great position on the break, missing a chance he should have took and getting a bit lucky to claim his first goal for the club". Yep. Not closing the door, but in reality actions speak louder than words. If you loan them out, you clearly don't rate them. I doubt he will play for us again unless we have some nightmare injury problem.

I actually liked a lot of what I saw of Elyounoussi. There I said it. I didn't really understand the almost universal dislike of him. He has a good touch, decent awareness and tries to make things happen...but perhaps nothing ever did, hence why he didn't make an impact and why no one on here likes him.

For me its an average window until we see how Diallo and Salisu perform - not just this season, but over the next three seasons. We did offload players, but only by writing off a chunk of money. Not sure you could say that was a success. Failing to find a suitor for Forster is gonna prove to be very expensive. The KWP for Hoj deal was a good one for us. Hoj was ver average indeed. KWP has been great so far and looks excellent on the ball. Whether his defensive frailties will be coached out of him I am not sure, but he gives his all and that's fine by me. Nice to see Theo back. Let's see what he can offer us before going overboard. Basically I am not going to go out on a limb, but at least we are moving closer to the point off having players on the books we actually want and play.
