Could not agree more. This shows exactly the problem we face. Replacing a Morgan or a shaw is pretty much impossible. Even with the money want £25m player is going to come to us?

Or one that gets the money they want and the extra time to buy the replacement.

We didn't have players others wanted enough to pay the fees we were asking. They want them enough now.

Boy would it be nice to unearth a young gem at cb, albeit from plymouths academy. That position is almost as bad as goalkeeper for us development wise.

His display against arsenal, making their lauded cb pairing look woefully inept gives me real confidence. He stretches teams with his forward runs rather than wanting it to feet all the time, which gives us something different that we need. Does he score goals? BT took ages to find his goal scoring feet and Gallagher seems to have a few similar attributes, but dare I say it more pace and a better touch. He's not in the shaw class, but I get the feeling he might become a fans favourite down the line. I hope that's in the top flight.

He is top draw. Probably the quickest cm I have ever seen. Great first touch, vision, passing ability, engine...I know fans often overrate and overvalue their own players, usually because they know exactly what they do, but you seem to have gone the other way, almost as though there hasn't been enough footage on Motd to make your assssment.

I am minded of the penultimate game at the dell when giggs tore us apart and saints fans could only really stand in awe of him. Amazing player in his prime and well worth a round of applause. Much more than Owen last season.

That's exactly what was said about bridge and bale and we failed miserably to replace both and the balance and quality of the side suffered badly as a result. Shaw is the best left back in the league right now. He is worth that money. The best cost a premium. Sell Shaw and watch us struggle next season at both ends of the pitch.

He will be here all summer. We need the funds to buy his replacement, but they won't materialise. In the end we will loan him out again. We won't get a fee and we might even have to pay some of his wages. The chairman will be wise to take almost any early offer IMO.

What the contract that said Suarez could leave if someone bid over £40m yet seemed to mean nothing as Liverpool refused to acknowledge the bid? It would be nice though if all the comments from Poch about '12 months left, so what's the problem' were genuine. I'm less convinced after today's interview, but can't get worked up about it. I wasn't suggesting they were paying £2m, I was merely pointing out that the bigger amount was more important than the bigger name. Not sure how the selection of a sponsor indicates our lack of ambition. We had no sponsor a few seasons back and no one suggested then we lacked ambition.

the loss of one player (two if you include Fortune to Wigan), Lukaku, had a huge negative effect on the effectiveness of their side. They did replace them with the much touted Vydra, the exciting, but underperforming Sessegnon and the ageing Anelka, but bringing players in that are as good as the ones that left is very tough as we may find out again.
