  1. With a year left of his contract wouldn't he have assessed things whether cortese was here or not? I should imagine cortese had informed him they would start discussions about a new contract in the summer rather than let it wind down.
  2. And no saints fan ever worked in Portsmouth ever? Why anyone would want celebrate in seeing so many honest working people lose their jobs, which is why this position has been created, is beyond me. Stick to the football.
  3. That figure sOunds a fraction on the high side. If it is accurate, it makes me think about when Lowe was slated left right and centre for earning less than £400,000. KL could do a lot worse than trying to steal Hew Jenkins from Swansea, who was earning £200,000 a year a while back.
  4. Funny, I was looking from my seat in the Kingsland last week at the number of empty boxes opposite me and thought about the period under Lowe which, from my poor memory, saw them pretty much all sold out during our previous time in the top flight. Perhaps the total income is actually higher now than it was then through much higher prices, I don't know, but it made me wonder as to who set the pricing and why they are not all sold out. Lowe's hands were tied by the listing on so many things, but when it came to his customers, be they sponsors, box holders or season tickets holders he treated them well from my recollection. Having said that perhaps the lack box holders is just down to the economic situation we are in!
  5. I've never been a fan, but it's just a bit early to conclude his exit hasn't had a negative or indeed positive impact. The milk still being taken in isn't comprehensive evidence that this isn't a turning point of some sort (good or bad).
  6. Lots of people have bought a business from their boss and undertaken the purchase whilst still being an employee. What is different here? Just another rumour...
  7. Wonder if the bad press obtained through the Cortese/MLT/Benai spat came to the attention of the Liebherrs?
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25755711 "The players bought into his vision, wholeheartedly. So much so, that at least one leading Southampton player has a clause in his contract that links his own future to Cortese's." how do you know that?
  9. MP won't resign and he will say that players are going nowhere. In a week a new CEO will be announced and this supposed `meltdown' will be put to bed. In the summer Shaw will leave for a world record fee, but it won't have anything to do with Cortese leaving. He was just tapped up, offered a once in a lifetime contract and there won't be a thing anyone could have done. We'll draw on Saturday, it will rain tonight and the lottery numbers are...
  10. she looks like the kind of football club owner that can oversee a rise from league 1 to the top half of the premiership.
  11. Cortese couldn't prevent the Ox leaving and he wouldn't be able to prevent Shaw leaving either. Today has changed nothing regarding Shaw's lomg term future at the club IMO.
  12. **** in ell that's a bed wetter and a half "I'd rather die than be relegated"
  13. Cortese provided it to press perhaps?
  14. what I love most about the statue is a mate of mine went to the unveiling and when I asked him the next day what he thought he said "yeah, its alright".
  15. Gazza fee was undisclosed but rumoured to be the largest fee Gillingham have ever received for a player, which take it above £1.5m
  16. If KL sells up I hope the incoming person is the sort capable of overseeing a rise from joint bottom of league 1 to 8th in the Prem.
  17. A massive meh from me regarding his departure, in fact a yogurt that might be going out of date in the fridge is a more pressing concern. For those stressing, let me just say that there are other successful CEOs out there earning far less than Cortese was taking out of the club. This might be the beginning of something even greater. On the other hand maybe it won't...
  18. I can see why Cortese would be put out, but quite frankly this is the better of the two theories sell or more involvement. It will be a lot easier to find a compatant CEO to work within the Liebherr guidelines than it will be to find a new owner that doesn't **** everything up.
  19. is someone not getting there way again on the kit choice for next season?
  20. Thought we played better or at least more exciting football in the middle part of last season if I am honest.
  21. Would a statement in court by puncheon to the effect that he had personally been asked by Colin to do these things be enough proof?
  22. could we loan all our unwanted to Mansfield Wycombe Bury Bristol Rovers Accrington Torquay Northampton
  23. I assume you mean for him not for saints? I agree it's a no brainer for him, but not for saints. I also think £30m could well be required. Wasn't this story in the mail? Isn't that supposed to be the new mouthpiece for the club? Perhaps cortese with his new media saviness is sending a message out to clubs and shaw himself, that this is the kind of figure needed and anything less just won't be considered. I'm reading into it too much aren't i?
  24. We had this same problem over the last three seasons. If we didn't get promoted from league 1 we faced losing chamberlain, Lallana, Morgan and maybe lambert. If we didn't get promoted from the championship Lallana and Morgan again could well have gone. If we didn't stay up last season Lallana and Morgan again would be hard to keep hold of. We managed to achieve all those targets, so didn't have to worry too much. I wonder what that timeframe is you mention for European football, because I agree we must keep going forward or players like shaw and Morgan might start to consider a move.
  25. Sterling isn't playing cl either by the way.
