Was there any ever doubt. Never has "interest from other clubs" in the press been more of an obvious a placement by an agent.
-
I like this idea. A huge bid from the club for a player might grab our own players eyes.
-
Not sure about the pocketing of millions by Lowe and co! and I think if we low Shaw that will effect how we play more, but I could not agree more about the inadequate replacement for Bridge in lesaux and it leading to our downfall. The same could be said for Bale and Jones sales. Take pivotal players out of the side and the money that comes in usually squandered, leaving gaping holes.

At this point i hope she is the owner for the next 30 years, she has backed us into the prem and a stable owner can only be a good thing, but maybe with hindsight I will regret that statement.
-
Seems reasonable to me. Why are all saints fans so pleased to sell players on the cheap. We made a £10m gamble on a player, it came off. The next man is not gambling, he's getting a sure thing. That costs more.
-
Call me cynic but this smacks of his agent posting a story to make sure the eventual offer from spurs is ****ing massive. The press get these stories from agents not chairman.

Does it ****.

Can we put to bed the nonsense that we were doomed when NC left.....
Chez replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
we always were a selling club, as the sale of Chamberlain proved, it's just that we have sped up the divisions limiting our exposure/need to sell. -
This sort of post is what makes this place worthwhile. Very well done sir.

Watch Baines get skinned alive at the World Cup. He is too slow. Decent with the ball, but I think he's had an average season compared to last year. He was poor at SMS. I'd of taken Cole and Shaw to the World Cup. As for Azpilicueta, he's a decent right back, not outstanding, but solid. At left back he's painfully limited. I don't think I saw him cross the half way line, which may be more about tactics than I care to admit, but he looked uncomfortable there in games I saw him. Not a chance I'd swap Shaw for him. No chance. You seriously underestimate how good Shaw is IMO. But I guess the game is all about opinions. I thought and said at the time that we undersold, Bridge, Bale, Jones and Chamberlain.

10 rising to 15 based on performances. I suspect Moyes wasn't giving him 10 out of 10 though. They got £1.5m back for his loan to Cardiff. I wouldn't mind him at our place on what I have seen of him live, but he seems to be a real risk.
-
So since Cliche left Arsenal have twice failed to find a half decent left back. Not easy finding good players, so when you have a sure thing you don't let them go on the cheap. The best play in his position in the league is worth more than £27m. If we sell Shaw we will us suffer as a side massively. He is our whole left side.
-
Good point. How much did Cabye go for? £19m was it? The huge rise in TV money changes the valuations on players.
-
I think we need Lallana more than any of the top four sides. I agree Liverrpool need full backs. All the big sides could upgrade. Surprised they aren't all fighting each other to the death for Shaw. He's a serious upgrade for all of them Man City included.
-
Part of the reason he has looked so good is we have played him in his best position, in the hole and allowed to roam free. When forced to track up and down at left midfield his weaknesses, a lack of blistering pace, were exposed. I remember him playing in thehole against Reading away many years ago he was outstanding. I could never understand why he wasn't played thee much afterwards. I guess you need to have the right players around him to play that system.
-
The £27m for Shaw is a crazy figure. Way, way too low. Who on earth if this equally good player for a a quarter of that price, sign him up now.
-
Like it a lot. This with the old. School navy shorts would look exactly like Athletico I know, but it would also look far better than black shorts.
-
He's a proper talent and perhaps United would cut their losses on him. The stuff said about keeping bad company is a worry. For the money we would have to spend I'm not sure we'd gamble. Certainly tore us apart for the ten minute cameo at SMS and I've seen him cause problems to very good players.
-
Good centre backs are hard to find and Fonte has had a tremendous season,so this is vey good news indeed.
-
agree with those. I thought Delph was excellent against us last season at their place, despite them being a terrible side at the time. Obviously he scored the wonder goal at SMS this season, but I hardly noticed him in that game as we dominated and he seemed to just sit deep. I can't remember anything of the dull game at their place this season. Not sure how Delph will be allowed to move from Villa to us. If QPR fail then Austin will be hot property but not cheap to buy.
-
anyone know how Mayuka has performed at Sochaux this season? 3 goals and only 15 appearances according to Wiki

Puma pay Arsenal £30m a season to be their kit supplier. Do the sports kit manufacturers pay the mid table sides to provide their kit? They effectively are sponsors of the clubs and get the same publicity that the shirt sponsors get. If we produce our own we would obviously miss out on this money, whatever it might be.
-
This will go viral on twitter. No idea if it's true. But ends the day nicely. Cheers.
-
Nah, just putting that out there. I don't buy the shirts or really care for stripes. Would like the side to have the most stylish kit out there.
-
I'd take Poyet. Yeah he's a knob, but I liked how Brighton played it out from the back, as we do, whilst he was there. I'm sure there are other better candidates from overseas, but my knowledge is poor on that subject.
