  1. I hope he finds some next season
  2. the same Yoshida that was behind the much maligned Jos in the pecking order for the final part of the season?
  3. I hope he is better than Corluka. He's a very average player IMO.
  4. kinell, I was looking forward to the usual moaning about our season being ****ed because we hadn't signed players in June. **** load of money for a player Llyon fans seemed less than impressed by, if their coordinated online efforts to big him up to Barca are anything to go by. Just the sort of signing I like though. Exciting. Hope he's a nasty, pacey, beast of a man but with a touch of an angel.
  5. how on earth did that side survive in the top flight with those midfield options?
  6. It would appear there is an awful lot of those loyal skates that aren't perhaps quite as loyal as Scumball remembered from his days at **** park.
  7. all defenders (players) make mistakes in games, it's just that some get punished and some don't. I'm not sure its wise to read much into individual errors. Is a miskicked clearance leading to a goal any worse than a lazy player not getting back to even attempt make that clearance? Which of the two circumstances will be recorded as an individual error?
  8. I'll tell you what, that Hummels is a ****ing player. I don't think I've seen a centre back better than him last season. Obviously he's a non starter, but I hope one day I get to see a player like him at centre back for us, before they have been snapped up perhaps, even if its just for a season.
  9. fella in the centre looking like a zombified Ed from Sean of the Dead makes me chuckle. Someone remind me the back story to this image. I just can't get my head round how this came to be.
  10. yeah we paid an undisclosed fee, plus a sell on fee of over over a £100,000.
  11. Out of interest did you enjoy the 2008/9 season more than last season?
  12. I wonder if we got any money for Safri
  13. it certainly would be unless you count the tidy sum we made on McGoldrick, signed from Notts county at 16 who spent a year or two in the academy.
  14. Nope. Can't stand them. They all look so regimented and over branded. The three stripes on shorts, shirts and socks is far too much. The newer, I'd say ugly logo, slapped in the middle of the shirt sucks. It's all subjective though. I think the current white shirt is right up there as our best ever kit behind the last striped shirt with the gold trim and I hated the sash and think the Xerox kit is actually crap and that people's nostagia gets the better of them. As I said, its all subjective.
  15. not sure people are criticising Forren (whilst Jos is at the club we have a ready made whipping boy) for not playing, it's more a case of wondering about the transfer. Jos and Fonte played well and the manager didn't want to change a `settled back four' might be the simple answer to why he didn't figure, but we made two centre back subs whilst he was on the bench and he was overlooked on both occasions.
  16. manager plus location is going to be tough to overcome. We'd have to seriously outbid in terms of wages, which is a long term worry. But he looks exactly the type of player we need. Strong, direct and capable of leading the line. Wigan were a completly different side when he played. The ACON cost Wigan survival IMO. £6.5m looks a fair price.
  17. the first game he plays next season might be even more important. Premiership survival could depend on the result. For me it was Jos' good form that kept him out of the side, but seeing as some on here descrobe him as "calamity Jos" you have to ask how good is Forren? Having seen nothing of him I have no idea. He doesn't look the biggest, which is a slight concern, but surely he is better than Yoshida.
  18. begs the question why not blood him in the last game?
  19. very good analysis. That right midfield position seemed to be filled by Puncheon for a period last season and he linked very well with Clyne, but he needs competition and not from Gaston. Thomas Ince perhaps? Kone £6.5m buy out clause is enticing. Fortune on a free from WBA would out some strength up the middle. Perhaps I'm shopping with the wromng budget, but paying big is niot always neccessary.
  20. from those photos I can see quite clearly that he's better than Fox ;-)
  21. better than Fox, but are we able to offload Fox?
  22. It might not be a club anymore, but I'm sure common sense will prevail. If not, "the Southampton Way, quality in everything we do, by never standing still we find a better way, we don't follow, we lead, and others follow our example" will seem very hollow indeed. As I said I'm sure once the football business understand that there are a few people that fall between the gaps they will refine their process.
  23. Agreed. There must be some sort of certification that proves the claimant is elidgable for incapacity benefit and couldn't that be used by the club to determine who can and can't get a disabled ticket. Hope you can sort this.
  24. Everyone knows in advance that games will be moved for the telly. If it came out of nowhere then you'd have a point about football clubs compensating fans. Pick a different stick to beat Cortese though.
  25. I'd prefer to have that pound in my pocket than have it wasted it on this load of old marketing puff. Booking fee was £2.50 on top of the £656 ticket.
