he was good in that game, Fulham away as well. He grabbed that game by the scruff of the neck and was a threat. What struck me in both games was his ability to control the ball dead in horrific conditions. With the likes of Lallana and Lambert we have been spoilt a little in terms of players with fantastic first touches, but this guy's touch is even better. All he has to do is start picking the right pass a little more often in the final third, cut out the nutmegs on the half way line and be right on it in every game.

His lack of stamina is a concern. Perhaps he needs to pace himself a little better as he is moving all the time and that's what makes him such a good player for us. He;s doing too much in the first 20 minutes possibly. Our dead ball stuff is terrible full stop. We've been crap since Chamberlain left. Buy him back for his corners alone. I don't want to see Lallana taking them ever. I also want to see a return of having at least one or two of our smaller players on the half way line.

I'm a huge fan, but I'm sorry to say you hit the nail on the head with that comment. Hopefully he'll get it right next season. I think he will. As much as I appreciate what Davis has done this season, I don't want to see him at the head of the diamond next season as often as this.

I can't remember the Newcastle game for some reason, but I think you need to add Everton to your short list. He was absolutely amazing until he got injured.
  5. he was bloody great for Brum. Not sure he's been scoring too many in the last couple of seasons though.
  6. Would Wanyama leave Celtic for us? Without going into the whole Scottish football, Celtic bigger than Saints thing, wouldn't he want Champions league football or as close to it as possible? I've only seen him twice (in the CL) and he looked Celtic's stand out player in both games.
  7. I thought he looked the better striker when we last played Burnley. He was a handful despite the service to him being terrible. I think he'd score goals at any level. Much prefer him to Sharp. Doesn't feel like a signing we will make though. I just can't see us buying championship players. Under Adkins maybe, but I would have thought we'd try to use MP's inside knowledge of Spanish football while we can to try and get another Michu gem.
  8. No one said long ball football wasn't effective, to a point.
  9. ignoring the red and white quarters and then halves kits between 1889-1896
  10. Enjoyed the season, but I don't see any reason for a rise. I intend to moan a lot if there is one. I wonder if my seat will magic itself closer (reclassify) to the centre again, like it did last summer, to give them an opportunity to put the price up even further. Out of interest did any non season ticket holders have any problems getting home or away tickets (and I don't mean because you left it too late)
  11. the right players on the right wages more important than getting them in early.
  12. does that include wages?
  13. Not particulary impressed at Cortese intentionally putting this into the public domain for whatever reason. I thought he had a strict policy of keeping company business private (which was a good one IMO)? Don't understand the timing either. Why not do it next week? I thought it was only dark forces that unsettled the club? If we lose the £5m game tomorrow will anyone ask if this stuff gave the players the perfect excused to take their eyes off the ball?
  14. I am glad things have been resolved, but not particulary impressed at how Cortese appears to have intentionally put this into the public domain. If we lose the £5m game tomorrow will anyone ask if this stuff gave the players the perfect excused to take their eyes off the ball?
  15. When exactly can Shaw sign his contract?
  16. will we be as excited as when Lee `Robben' Holmes signed?
  17. if you found the right fan, with the right experience, credentials and ideas you never know they might turn out to be as good as Hew Jenkins has been for Swansea. It's finding the right one that is the problem
  18. Cleverely and Milner are exactly why England will do nothing. They are both decent enough players at club level, but they are no where near good enough at International level. Milner at his best, playing for Villa in the centre I could live with, but Milner tracking up and down the line played wide right just does not do anything for me. I don;t see a left sided player there either. Happy Ricky is not selected. He'll just get injured and we'll all be gutted.
  19. the huge wages we are paying them might have a little something to do with it.
  20. Hew Jenkins was a lifelong Swansea fan before helping to save them before steering them through the leagues. Not bad for a man earning £200,000 a year.
  21. I'm amazed you've not flagged up the issue of work permit and how long this might take and how the player might not be here in time for the first training session... Your standards are slipping.
  22. Chelsea did.
  23. Kone and McManaman ahead of Maloney for me. If I had seen more of them perhaps McCarthy and McArthur would be on that short list too. Can't see us signing any of them.
  24. Nat Chalobah looks a good prospect to me. Chelsea won't let him go, but Callum McMannaman and Tom Lees are certainly worth looking at. Anyone seen much of Jason Lowe?
