  1. Lukaku showed tremendous pace to out run Clyne, but also had the power too. What a combination of facits! I thought Fellaini was equally impressive. Tremendous ball control for a big man and great strength. Far better player than I had him down for. We handled him well, but he still caused us massive problems. I think Hazard was the best player though. Amazing talent. Ran rings round us when he came on. My favourite player at the moment.

fullbacks without pace are always going to be under pressure. In this day and age I wouldn't sign a fullback unless he is quick.

that's Yoshida in most games for me.

In what way does he work hard?
  5. I wonder how Gazza is rated by Poch. McCarthy at Reading worth looking at perhaps?
  6. if we are looking at fullbacks then Danny Rose from Spurs would be a tremendous signing. Not sure how we'd get him though as I imagine Sunderland will do their best to get him. Sam Byron from Leeds is another we might look at, but not at the £10m being talked of in the papers.
  7. The average skate maybe might be easily swayed by a dodgy sugar daddy, but I don't think those that have invested their £1000 will be so quick to grab the cash and its them that will ultimately have the vote on selling a percentage of the club. The key will be if they can balance the books. If they start to get into trouble that's when pressure might build.
  8. He's had good and bad games. His decision to dive in yesterday led directly to the third goal. He might be more mobile, but he poor in the air. He's less clumsy, but a woeful passer. There is room for improvement. Hopefully he and all our players will continue to improve next season.
  9. perfect for any professional footballer to go straight from pitch to golf course
  10. why do you think that? He lacks pace, has no skills. doesn't get up and down, might even be described as lazy...
  11. you can say the same of Yoshida. Players make mistakes. Forum posters, myself included often choose to highlight the ones from the players they don't rate. Clyne has made quite a few but because he is highly regarded these are not mentioned. Yiou have to question his marking for their second goal yesterday. You also have to question huis defending against Lukaka when Morgan saved us too. I've not seen anyone mention either. I don't think Jos is world beater, I have just always said he would do Ok if called upon and IMO by and large he has. You don't agree. We move on. What do you think of Yoshida?
  12. Jos was poor yesterday, but he has been good in other games.
  13. A horror show. It happens I suppose, but hopefully not too often. We are a newly promoted side, we can't expect to be world beaters all the time. We will need to strengthen though and this tyoe of game shows where. Anyone else worried we might still be dragged into the mix? was Cork injured, because if he wasn't it was the worst substitute decision this season. As soon as he went off we disintegrated, not that we were all that great in the first half. So many players were below par, from the keeper, the back four, midfield and through to the strikers. Offensively we were toothless. Lambert did nothing and Lallana just isn't doing enough. Without Shaw bombing down the line we struggle to open teams up. I heard on the radio as I was driving in that WBA had not beaten us at our place since the sixties or something. Whenever stats like that are dragged uo we always lose. Always. Boruc 5 - four throw outs, two went straight to the opposition. Small things, but sets the tone. Should have done better with the first. Clyne 7 - some questionable positioning for their second goal. not bad going forward. I actually think he plays better with Puncheon. Lallana just gets in the way. Jos 3 - made to look slow and poor like many on here have been saying. In the second half he didn't seem to know what sort of pass he should make. He's done well over the last few months but ill equipped to handle Lukaku. Yoshida 3 - what the **** was he doing for the third goal? Dived in like a schoolboy. Not good enough IMO. Our lack of height cost us for the first goal as well. We looked like we might concede from every corner. For me he only looks good when opponents play one up front. Play two and he loos exposed. Fox 2 - Davis may have given him a hospital pass, and he possibly wanted to show the fans he was fully comitted, but what a horrible tackle. Apart from that he had a poor game. Didn't get tight, didn't mark, and outpaced. Lakaku took him to pieces. Going forward he offered too many crap crosses. He doesn't overlap. Maybe he is told not to, if not its down to him being lazy. Cork 5 worked hard but they bypassed midfield so despite controlling that area of the pitch WBA still were the more effective side. When he went off we totally lost our way and rythm. Morgan 6- similar to Cork. Why is he collecting two yard pass from the two centre backs though. Let them do that and move into midfield to collect a pass. Davis 6 busy as usual, but I'm not sure he is good enough to play as part of a two man central midfield. Much better in that free role. Lallana 3 did nothing and shoukd have been subbed at half time for me. Lambert 3 also did nothing. When he comes up against towering centre backs and fullbacks he can struggle. Rodrigez 7 worked hard and did OK, but comoare our front three with theirs and ours looked poor. Ramirez deserved to go. Mayuka he looks like a bobbler to me. Lively but never got the ball under control. Fonte Good to see him back
  14. some guys at Hull University invented the LCD. They laugh now at not getting it patented.
  15. Despite getting £11m of parachute payments in the next 12 months its not until 2017 before they complete the payments to the players/clubs.
  16. when Champers says largest he actually means ****est.
  17. Enjoyed the pitch invasions at the Dell and mass grab for players shirts. Less fussed now.
  18. If the fans own 60% can they sack the board or CEO or are the Presidents (I assume they are on the board) unsackable from the board?
  19. I'm not sure. And second guessing the skate finances is folly. However, if I was to have a stab at it, I would guess that the money to be handed over up front for the sale was what, about £4m? The inherited footballers debt of £8m will be paid back using the parachute payments (if they want to, but I don't think there is a stipulation that this must be used for that - it merely gets sent to PFC and they pass it onto the players - I might be wrong there) and other income over the next few years. The £1.45m loan went towards that £4m needed up front to buy the going concern. The PST needed it as a short bridging loan until they got all the £1000 donations in from the fans in. We have seen today that £3.1m has been raised from fans and HNWs. Add the £1.45m that and there seems to be a small surplus of about half a million floating about. That money could be used to pay some of the £1.45m back straight away, but I suspect it will be needed for running costs over the next few months. I assume the £1.45m will subsequently be paid back using season ticket money that comes in over the summer.
  20. Goes towards buying the club and paying costs. PCC won't have any share of the club. The £1.45m must be paid back by September.
  21. Yes. I know someone that has one. He has saved a bloody fortune.

    15 players going

Aren't all centre backs the weak link these days? It's almost impossible being a physically big player that wins headers that is also fast and nimble to stay with the small strikers. How on earth Jos or Fonte are expected to successfully mark Carroll one week and Tevez the next is beyond me. Add to this they must be great on the ball and offer a decent range of short and long passes. Plus be two footed to cope with clearances from both sides. It's not the same game for centre backs. They are no longer allowed to tackle from behind, tackle hard or indeed tackle. They can't commit professional fouls, pull shirts, get their hand or arm anywhere near a football, no matter what the distance away from them it was kicked. They also have to cope with faster and fitter attackers that seem to have perfected the `art' of diving or making the most of any contact. Little wonder you and I are forever finding fault with our centre backs. Personally, I like Fonte and Jos. Less so Yoshida, but all are a million miles better than the likes of Martin. Is he out of contract in the summer?
  23. I hope he never bothers with English. You just know it ****es the media off having to have a translator.
  24. hardly surprising you didn't all break down in tears. On each occasion you have been effectively relegated for weeks, so the last day of the season must have been a relief that its finally over rather than some sort of dissapointment that you somehow missed out on staying up. Obviously this time round you have got rid of Chanrai, so a celebration is understandable. Shame the `sell out' home crowds weren't there all season. Perhaps with an 18k attendance each week you might have had the finances to stay up. You'll never know.
  25. I thought we'd find it very tough, but at the same time I thought we might eak out a win or two in the earlier games as promoted sides usually ride on a crest of promotion wave. With the poor start things look bad, no worse than at your place. That was our lowest point and we looked ragged at best and even the most confident of Saints fans must have feared the worse at that point. Brilliant turn around since then and right now we are playing very well and exceeding my expectations. Brilliant start and not altogether unsurprising. I rate several of your players highly and you have a solid Premiership squad. If I'm honest I'm more surprised at the way you have declined since the Odemwingie fiasco. We press a little higher up the pitch. We also seem to know what we are doing a bit better at the back. When under pressure hit it, when not take your time and retain possession. Under Adkins there seemed to be a keep it and pass it no matter what and that cost us goals. the two midfielders seem to know their roles better too. We gamble by playing a lot of attackers, but with two pacey fullbacks we get away with it a lot. Excellent set of fans, decent ground to go to. Like us you wonder what the next step is? I thought you put in a poor position and liked your stance. The end result though was you had a player you couldn't use and no money in the bank. The players hold the cards. You looked like you were at your best and we certainly were at our very worst (this season). You stuffed us and it could have been many more. I was surprised Adkins wasn't sacked afterwards. Perhaps the decision was made after that game and took time for the new man to be found. We have lots of good attacking players like Ramirez and Lallana, but its been Rodriguez that has been flying of late (although not on Saturday). He has been our real threat taking players on and running with the ball at pace. Lambert is the link man and will always be a threat. Shaw (if he plays) is a real threat down the wing. He has been brilliant rampaging down the line. Lukaka looks a nightmare to mark. I rate Brunt and Morrison, although I've not seen them live that often. Boruc Cylne Jos Yoshia Shaw Lallana Cork Schneiderlin Davies Rodriguez Lambert 2-1 Saints
