QPR are requesting a £2m loan fee for one season
-
Adkins simply did not trust him and because of that I thought he treated him rather poorly at times. Steve would come on have an impact on the game, but then not see playing times for weeks. When he did get a chance he didn't always take it of course, but you do need a decent run in the side and I'm not sure he ever got that. I guess our promotion shows that Adkins got it right selection wise, but there were a few games when I thought he should have been brought on and a few when I thought he shouldn't have been taken off. Water under the bridge now. Hope he gets his career back on track. He's not nearly as bad as some make out. He just needs better direction in more ways than one.

Not seen enough of Caulker to make a judgement, but do Spurs have a recent history if letting players go that come back to haunt them? They are a top 5 side so are looking for world class player to improve them. Cardiff could be yet another former championship side that surprises the blase Prem sides. Could be a good season...

fair point, but for us to go down there might need to be some poor seasons for some of these guys and that can make it tougher for them to be sold. You only need a few £50k a week guys stuck on the wage bill to bleed you dry.
-
Really would like us to have three or four players that have come through the academy (manunited-like) all in the side pushing each other on and encouraging each to stay and take the club onwards and upwards. Best of luck to the lad. Look forward to seeing him up at the Hawthorns

As a regular on the Skate transfer Saga thread I can confirm that the blue few have been derided for the last three years for not questioning some of the mega money signings they made and their ability to fund them. TV money has gone up for sure since then and we have a larger stadium to bring in greater income, so perhaps there are big differences, but current fees and wages are bigger than ever and I have not seen a single Saints fan raise a question about our own spending and perhaps more importantly what might happen should we have bad season and somehow get relegated. I therefore thought I'd do that now. Do you think these new £10m-£20m signings have accepted a reduction in wages in line with the reduced in income of the Championship? Has Lovren got a 60% reductuion relegation clause in his contract similar to the Higginbottom one mentioned above for instance? Is a relation clause standard practice these days? If not will the huge parachute payments keep us out of difficulty? Is our wage bill well within our limits now, but more importantly if we went down. Or is there simply no chance we will go down so it doesn't matter?

excellent comparison.

depends on how much the work will cost. If it is not too much they might get an instant return on their investment.
-
do you think if another club came in for him right now and offered Everton say £5m they would sell him, cos I think they'd bite their hands off to accept it.

Jelavic was as bad a striker as you will ever find in the Prem last season. Amazing downturn on his showings the season before.

Do you think they come above us this season?

FourFourTwo Season Predictions - (Premier League - League Two)
Chez replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
9th. Blimey. That would be a tremendous season. Not sure we are good enough to finish that high. Mind you Leeds to finish 3rd and Brighton 11th. Can't see that at all myself. -
that's a proper transfer rumour post. Well played sir.

Simon Moore -another one that slipped through our fingers?

Newcastle were quoted £7m three years ago.

Allowing parking on double yellows is one of the most stupid ideas I have ever heard. The yellows are their for safety reasons and to ensure flow of traffic. People who park on double yellows (that is quite obviously requireed for one of those two reasons I just mentioned) are utter ****s. If the yellows are not actually needed for safety and/or traffic flow reasons and have just been put in to force people into paid for car parks or meters then simply remove them. Councils will say they are there for the benefit of the local community, but don't believe that for a minute. There isn't hardly a road in Soton city cdntre that hasn't got a meter or a set if doubles. It's a money making excercise. To help the highstreet, councils need to provide free or low cost parking. Why the hell would I pay £5 to park my car for a few of hours to simply browse around the shops?

if he wants to play football there won't be anything stopping him from doing so other than his wage demands.
-
He doesn't have pace and he doesn't have a powerful shot. He never will. Accept that and start enjoying his terrific attributes. There is more than enough room in our squad for players with his ability.
-
So sides in the lower leagues get less TV money. I'd of never of guessed that.
-
they really aren't. He was terrible. He made one very good save against Newcastle which impressed us, but overall he made Ian Andrews stuff look solid and that's from somone that was at Loftus Road way back when. His display against Norwich was dreadful. Completely amaterish. If you can't line a wall up and then stand in the right place you have no business in a Premiership shirt. Adkins totally lost the plot playing him. His confidence was shot and it cost us points. It's a long way back from that IMO and I'd like to see him get 15 games elsewhere before he ever gets close to our first team again.

The last Ford Transits have rolled of the Swaythling production line
Chez replied to TopGun's topic in The Lounge
I thought it was a huge loan/gift?? from the EU to Turkey (making that country such an attractive option for Ford) that ****ed Soton, not competition from Genk? 40 years of production in the UK is not `using us to get a foothold in Europe'. -
If they were still in the Championship this season they would have got a basic TV payment of £2.3m a year, whilst now they only get £240,000. But the relegation parachute payments have gone up from £48m over four years to £60m over four years. The skates got an extra £4m this summer due to that rise. So your statement wasn't correct. They don't actually get less parachute money as a result of going down. They would just have got more money (parachute payment + basic TV payment) if they were in the Championship.
-
excellent point. Biggest signing of the summer by far.
-
hard to argue with most of that, although I think Jos and Fonte are fine as back up. I couldn't agree more about Yoshida. No idea why people rate him so much. Such a passive defender. He needs to improve greatly this season. Overall I think there is talent in our squad and a degree of depth to the squad, but the whole Premiership could say the same. The key as always is how they play as a team. We couod add no one but get it togeter as a side and be top 10. We coud add four more players, but play as a disjointed bunch of individuals.

What is the point of these vans? If you had risked life and limb, possibly spent your complete life savings to get into this country risking detention and a return to your original country, you aren't going to hand yourself in just because an advert on the side of a van says you might be arrested, detained and returned to your original country. Why on earth wouldn't you sit tight and see if you were actually caught? That of course puts to one side the possibility that these vans are actually seen by an illegal immigrant and that person can actually understand them. This is a complete and utter waste of time and money. A publicity stunt to try and convince the general public that the current government is taking a tough line on immigration.
