He was very much part of both Wolves' success and failure. When things were going well for him he was beating players and getting brilliant crosses in from the byline and causing problems for opponents. That's why he got his cap and deservedly so. However, last season he was off the boil, creating little and was dropped. He eventually found some form and started to do the things that attracted admirers, but this was too late for Wolves. He must share some of the blame for their relegation. Personally I think he'd be great for us. Busy, pacey, direct and genuine competition for Adam. No chance we'll spend £10m though so doubtful we'll get him. I suspect every lower and mid level Prem side will have a dip.

they certainly did back in the Lowe days, but did we perhaps sell any of those properties when we were in the mire?

Lambert worked with him before according to reports. We tend to overlook this left hand side. Lallana is a shoe in, but where is the competition and the replacement? Chaplow did well there I suppose when Adam was out. -

it would be excellent. I'm still very confused why Butterfield would get another contract if we didn't feel he could play a part next season. -
Mark my words if he somehow got £55k a week he'd relocate. Can't see either happening, although huge wages will have to be paid if we want top notch talent.

New York is excellent. Got something for everyone. http://www.skyscanner.net good place to start regarding flights. Tripadvisor worth a look regarding hotels.

this is the key question. They clearly have the funds to buy the club and clear all the other debts via the CVA, but its settling this football debt that's the pain in the backside. Can they make stage payments perhaps using the remaining parachute payments to help? If they can do that then it's all about matching the outgoings with income. The wage bill is falling, slowly, but as with Chinny's bid, unless the top earners **** off the PST would struggle to break even. I guess it matters not as Chinny is never going to allow the PST to take the club as he won't see a return on his own investment that way.

how much is the football creditors debt currently?

If JR turns us down (for whatever reason) should I expect lots of people on here doubting our ambition? -
Chinny's CVA offer turned out to be as suspected: 2p in the £1 (equalling £500,000), plus he promises (again) to pay charities and the creditors owed less then £2500 in full. However, this offer is dependent on several of big earners leaving first. What else? Ward joined Palace for £400k to keep the wolves from the door a while longer. PFC season tickets went on sale and that's about it. Meanwhile we toyed with bringing in an England keeper or two...

perhaps not, but that doesn't mean he couldn't cut it in the Prem. I'd go for Craig Gordon myself.
-
I don't know if Butland is as good as him, do you? But it means A 20 year old keeper can be `thrown into the Premiership pressure pot'.
-
Someone is earning a few bob. 2010/11 season their wage bill was £58m and they tend to have a smallish squad (currently 26).

I was going to say that it depends which paper you read, but http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2032533/Mikel-Arteta-admits-Arsenal-good-turn-down.html

Burnley may hold some of the cards, but seeing as they don't want to lose him for nowt they don't hold them all. They just might have to accept a lower bid from Everton if perhaps JR is reluctant to move down South (or fancies a bigger club like Everton).

Wenger was happy to turn to Wojciech Szczęsny, who at the time had just 4 more league games under this belt than Butland.

Birch said it but I doubt he made it all up. He's not AA. http://www.pkf.co.uk/pkf/news/football_industry/portsmouth_administrator_confirms_club_can_play_in_league_one_next_season

I thought Zhirkov looked decent again. Chelsea certainly didn't get the best out of him but these guys are miles out of our league. The question is, are there players at the Euros that would be willing to come to us? Butland? -
that may be true, when faced with the option of PFA or Writers awards, but although these guys can play the game, many of them are clueless idiots (perhaps that's why so many mistakes are made when it come to scouting etc). Highlights programmes on the TV often dictate the winners IMO. Besides if you heard some interviews on talksport with players around the time of the awards you'd know that many can't be arsed to vote, some actually vote tactically and the whole process is about as important to them as the price of bread. That said, from the highlights shows I saw, Green had a very good season and he's far better than Bart, so I'm happy we are going in the right direction if we have made any sort of enquiry/offer. Doubt we are willing to spend what he could get at QPR. But they can't sign Foster and Green.
-
the PFA teams shouldn't be given much credence at all. For example a full back with a few flashy goals on TV tends to get many more votes than a fullback that is solid but unspectacular all season. That's why Whittingham made the team of the year and players like Morgan and Leigertwood were overlooked. Davis had that amazing game at Leeds which signed sealed and delivered his PFA spot if you ask me.
-
fair point. Personally I can't see us affording Green and the two you mention could be more likely. I suggested Butland earlier in the season and still think raiding brum makes a lot of sense as they need the cash big time and they have some real quality.

We need to look to bring in players that are better than we have already. Unless we just buy players from the lower leagues (which could well do) we'll more than likely have to raise the level of our highest earner.
