  1. given a long run in any Championship side and Bridger will be fit, pacey and the best left back in the league. At West Ham he looked off the pace, but who wouldn't against the best sides around and after sitting on the sidelines for years?
  2. we've just got promoted. Losing to any established side should be seen as more than just a possibility, especially one that has made the play offs in the last two seasons an invested in new players in the summer
  3. The Mirror get 21.5% of it's football transfer stories/rumours correct. FACT.
  4. My Forest season ticket holding brother in law is getting nervous. He's already started making excuses, pointing to new found injuries during the two week break. They have got one or two though, which is nice. http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0%2c%2c10308~2445590%2c00.html
  5. Butterfield is so slow its not true, hence I'd rather we play Richardson. He also offers a bit more height. He got mugged by Bouazzam, but he had Gradel in his pocket. Overall he has played well this season. I just wonder how long before the lad from Plymouth gets a chance. How far away is he from the first team?
  6. I'll chuck Steed Malbranque into this thread.
  7. they have fallen out already?
  8. and I got a ****ing bargain.
  9. decent response, except that a) I think there was trouble last time the teams played at SMS after the game - so there was history to this fixture b) there does not seem to be an explanation as to why the car park wasn't closed to Saints fans as per many many previous games.
  10. you make some valid points and this one I certainly agree with and have posted about many times on various threads. Poking fun at you lot for not asking questions about where the money came from is fair enough IMO, but to do so whilst sticking our heads in the sand about our own financial situation isn't clever. I don't have the understanding of finance to feel 100% confident that we'll be alright jack no matter what, so for now I certainly won't be calling for us to spend £6M on a player in this league that's for sure. However I do want to respond to your point `what more could we have done?', well you could have not signed BTH on £38k a week and gone for someone cheaper, and you could also have not spent £500,000 on a loan fee for Quincy half way through the season when by then it was obvious that you couldn't possibly get out of the hole.
  11. Blackpool, 5 starts, 4 subs, 0 goals Rangers, 6 starts, 4 subs, 0 goals Stoke , 29 starts, 11 subs, 9 goals Sheff U, 60 starts, 5 subs, 34 goals
  12. I wonder why
  13. sounds a very good solution, but if there is money to be made you can bet we'll go for the stick you fiver and lose any credit remaining after 6 days.
  14. I was going to type the exact same thing. Lallana wouldn't have signed a 5 year deal unless we offered him a lowish Premiership size wage. The fact the first year's accounts showed a £7m loss just shows how much wages we are spending - lots. Players may like the stadium, but the likes of Cork came here simply because we could afford the transfer fee and because we offer big wages. Can someone remind me what Warnock got fined for regarding the Cork comment or whatever?
  15. there was still a pool of blood on the pavement this morning on London Road. Looked horrible. Hope he recovers quickly.
  16. Moyes certainly knows a good championship player when he sees one.
  17. I wonder if the £200,000 is a fee on top of his wages? Normally the club loaning the player pays a lump sum and then that is used by the owning club to pay his wages each month during the loan period. £200,000 = £12.5k a week over the 4 months. That could well be his wage with no fee on top. If it is a fee on top of his wages then that is not a bad bit of business.
  18. says the self appointed voice of every Saints fan barring Dune and a few `mongs'. Ever crossed you mind that you might be the mong for just accepting this policy without question?
  19. AJ from Fulham was mentioned last night and seeing as they signed a few strikers maybe that will happen.
  20. Might have been Puncheon himself that put the kibosh on this by holding out for the QPR move that didn't come till last minute.
  21. Leeds could now step in, although being knocked back in favour of QPR will have put Bates' back up.
  22. the first set of accounts showed £20m of debt to the current owner(s). Is there any chance whatsoever that the club could be saddled with that debt should perhaps the current owners sell the club?
  23. extremely pleased, we've signed someone other than Puncheon and Seaborne for fans to moan at. On a serious note we now have 5 centre backs. Are we intending on loaning Martin out as he needs games if he is ever going to improve.
  24. RichCawleySLP (Southern London press Sports editor) Richard Cawley Few rumours of Nat Clyne to Southampton. Zero chance of happening. #cpfc
  25. This rings true to me. If we had wanted both we would have done the deal at the same time. Also it was widely reported (well rumoured) that we were bidding for two players from the same club. This deal is dead for me.
