  1. I'm not sure I agree with the phrase `not showing much ambition'. Perhaps, `didn't spend mega bucks' might be more appropriate. Norwich signed some decent players (Surman signing feels very like the potential Cork signing to me) from all manor of levels, and they continued to do so throughout the season. At this point in time the difference between the two appears to be that Adkins has said we will bring in just 2 players, whilst Lambert made a lot of changes beforre and over the course of the season (14 in 14 out). I guess we might bring in two now and then lots of loanees throughout the season.
  2. Depends who's signing them. The Lallana contract announcement was one of the best bits of news I've read on the OS in years.
  3. not too many current England U-21 international ply their trade outside the top flight.

    David Nugent?

when it comes to Nugent I just can't get that goal he scored for Preston away at Palace when he runs half the length of the pitch with the ball and finishes nicely at the end of the run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avYgzrIZOyE Not sure that is what we might expect on a regular basis should he sign though. Most skates can't stand him, but he had a tough time there, with arry deciding after his first game (a friendly at Yeovil I think) that he had made a mistake and from then on not playing him. His confidence must have been shot. When he got finally a chance it was out wide and from what I recall he put in a very good shift out there. By the time he got to play up front he'd almost forgotten what to do. He did miss quite a lot of one on ones, but he gets in the right positions that's for sure. I'd like to see him at our place, but then again I liked Fuller even when he wasn't scoring for us so you can see the ex skate thing doesn't worry me at all.
  5. All of those players would be extremely tough to replace, but I don't see Chamberlain as being easier. If he goes it would leave a massive hole down that right hand side - a position we have struggled to fill over the years.
  6. post 9 suggests otherwise. and I agree with the pair of you.
  7. he means replacement for. Sounds to me like he isn't rushing to sign for us and seeing if something better comes along - not exactly a great desire there to be a Saint. Strange that we have decided to reveal our transfer dealings now. Perhaps we are struggling to attract players so we have revealed we are in for him and others to show we are serious and this will persuade others to sign for us.
  8. I didn't think he was good enough and said so at the time. Hopefully we will sign someone better.
  9. no signings when the owners have money often points to an impending sale. It has happened many times before. Time will tell.
  10. in 3 days time feel free to panic away, by the way is that play off place place still hanging by a thread?
  11. Forest tried to sign him last summer and they offered silly money and still got nowhere. Is he a year away from the end of his contract, if not he will be expensive?

    Bridgey

i don't agree with as single word of this. I know you are entitled to your opinion but I'm finding the words ******** and drivel hard to remove from my mind. If there was and always has been a fault with Bridge it's that he is totally one footed. Despite that he still got the move to Chelsea which just shows how bloody good he was. Defensively he was out of this world for us and one of the main reason's why Chelsea signed him. He was pacey, measured and extremely consistent. No one beat him and he certainly didn't leave the side exposed when going forward as CMFG sat in - that partnership is still revered despite Chris being relatively average at the top level (no disrespect to him intended). Chelsea signed possibly the best left back in the world to oust him from the side and IMO they did because they could, not because they really needed to. He's been unlucky to have been dropped into tough games when not match fit at all and that may be the reason some are doubting his talents now. I'd take him back here without a second thought. Terrific player.
  13. sadly that kind of comment hasn't been forthcoming in recent times from his camp. His signing is all about getting him before the other big sides get him. If they all know he is going nowhere then there is no rush, but as soon as one club bids they'll all have to join the race. The question is has that race run.
  14. I guess he wants to be sure that where ever he goes he doesn't just sit on the bench, either that or he knew a bod would come in from the Foxes and they are willing to pay more than the two Prem sides.
  15. many come directly from an agent hoping to drum up interest to either get a move or get a new contract.
  16. that would only be true once we had seen Sharp for a season or so at our place. As Sheff United fans if they thought he was a bargain.
  17. would you trust a football manager or chairman?
  18. can we compete with Bayern Munich? They have offered £500,000 up front and a cut of any future sale
  19. yep, and boy was he great to watch. Get him back here.
  20. I wish I had read that before Saturday night. My skate associates gave me the old "1-4 in your own backyard" after I suggested that we'll destroy them home and away this coming season. I was then laughed out of town when I suggested that they had cheated. Too many beers at the Cricket left me exposed. Grrrr. A big win at **** park this season, followed by their relegation, would shut them up I guess.
  21. there is actually an option for Huddersfield and Saints to agree a compensation fee between them without it ever going to a tribunal, so in affect we could use that fee against the cost of bringing someone the other way.
  22. he certainly won't be leaving brum for a NPC side.
  23. Niemi closely followed by Michael Svensson.
  24. Anyone remember the glorious start to the 1998/99 season? No? Well we lost the first five and didn't win any in the first 12. Guess when we did our transfers that summer. that's right early. David Howells came in on 14th June, Stuart Ripley 6th July, Mark Paul, 9th July, James Beattie 10th July, Mark Hughes 11th July and Skate Hiley on the 21st August. Getting players in early to forge a settled squad really helped that season didn't it. Cgheck out Norwichs signing pattern last season. Lambert signed players and brought in players on loan throughout the whole season. didn't do them any harm. Is that play off spot still hanging by a thread?
  25. Norwich/Ispwich and Cardiff/Swansea seemed to get live TV coverage last season between BBC and SKY, so our own derby is bound to be televised if one or both is doing well.
