Just flicked through the article in the newsagents and as far as I can remember it says the man (confimed as a boxer) was bottled (rather than glassed) on the dancefloor. He was not knocked uncouncious, but was bleeding. He walked unaided to the exit of the club. He shook his head and others were then showed with his blood. I don't think the cagefighter names Barnard or anyone. The way it is written it suggests he did not see the original incident. He talks about only being in the club 20 minutes. A second person may have been knocked unconcious.

if we'd had other options we'd of tried them long ago as he has been terrible this season in almost every game I've seen. I didn't see any improvement from him at all on Saturday. His confidence looks a little dented, and his first touch was wioeful at times. Fortunately for him there is quite literally no one else so he gets a chance to find his form again on Saturday. He'll come good eventually, hopefully we can keep winning which will surely speed up that return to form.

actually its about a third of a mile from the halls of residence, which is small and mostly for foreign students, who in my experience are the most well behaved. Lots of student live around that area though.

I don't believe you.

I just thought thousands of Saints fans read the Echo etc, saw his mug on the big screen and booed him, many in pantomine style because they were unhappy at him ciriticising Pardew at the time. Nothing preplanned, just a natural reaction. Why are there all these desperate posts suggesting it didn't happen, there were only two men and dog doing it or it happened this way or that?

2.30 am on a Thursday night, students just back at Uni.

I can categorically state that there was booing for both.

Personally I think its more believable that Marcus had to persuade Cortese not the other way round. We will never know.

do you charge people for drinks that come to your house? I do agree with you though.

were those wage figures based on the old parachute payment amounts though as these have obviously increased significantly and may explain why they can afford the two lads from Stoke.

I see another £2.5m has been wasted on Van Damme as he is already homesick and wants out according to the mirror. I wonder what cut of the transfer fee he got that time? http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Wolves-defender-Jelle-van-Damme-could-be-about-to-quit-the-club-because-he-is-homesick-for-Belgium-article591065.html Mick should have spoken to us...

How much would you be prepared to spend for a Saints Web subscription?

cheers. I will give that a try. -
is it really true that we charge visiting directors for drinks whilst every other club does not? If it is, and we only have mouth of the south to go on, its no wonder we struggled to sign anyone in the summer. "Mr Chairman I have the Southampton Chairman on line 1 wanting to discuss a price for Antonio." "Er, tell him I'm unavailable will you please" I think Buctootim has it spot on, they probably took the ****, so we billed them for it.

I don't mind the fiver, but since we moved to the new server I find that it is very slow. I'm not talking about the database error that is often mentioned, but more that you start typing a repsonse and it then takes 30 seconds to catch up and actually start to appear in the quick reply box. Is this just me, my computer and I, or is it part of the server issue? Very, very frustrating. -
he was a **** for coming out and revealing negotiations when there was absolutely no need to do so.

Just how/why did pre-season turn into such a shambles ?
Chez replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
are you suggesting that an SFC official is checking all threads for possible leaks and if there is any sign of one, following them up with some sort of investigation to route out the source, and then taking some sort of action? Sounds like there is a great deal of paranoia to me. Not exactly the best working environment if this is remotely true. -

its a very detailed/complicated story. To me it reads like he is describing what he/her sees, whether that is the whole truth I don't know, but even if there is an agenda it doesn't mean there are not facts in his story worth considering. -

Personally I don't think the players have shown a lack of fitness at all. There have been injuries that at a stretch could be pointed to a poor presseason, but I don't connect Lamberts groin strain or Lallanas recurring knee problem with a lack of running. IMO the poor start is down to one or two things. Firstly Lambert's groin injury has buggered up his preseason massively, because of that he has not been as sharp, he has not scored the goals, and as a result we are almost a goal a game light. Without those goals we have failed to get the results we require and the knock on effect has been a dip in confidence not helped by the weight of expectation. It's not all down to Lambert of course. Lallanas injury and the subsequent lack of creativity and yet more missing goals has been equally problematic. Also, not having options such as an Antonio or a Waigo to come off the bench to change things in the second half has meant we've been unable to rescue games or grab games by the horn as we did from time to time last season. The failure to sign this winger can be put down to aiming high but failing to compete with NPC sides (or higher) for players like Adomah, Phillips and Antonio. I'm not sure what the excuse is for not signing a striker, probably similar, but certainly ML's death and then the sacking on the eve of the wondow closing didn't help. I'm not one of those that thinks we should have signed players in June for `gelling' purposes, but going into a season with only three strikers and one of those being Connelly is unforgivable if you are going to play two up front. Its hard to know who to blame for this seeing as there being a transfer comittee and negotiations undertaken by who knows who? I don't actually think we were too far off at the start of the season. If Lambert and Lallana had been fit and we'd managed to twist Readings arm to bring Antonio back as was clearly planned I think we'd have got off to a decent start and confidence would be sky high. **** happens, all that matters now is how the manager and his side responds to our situation. I don't think there are too many lessons to be learn here other than we will struggle to sign top class young players as there will always be sides from the divisions above after them as well. Aim lower perhaps? That doesn;t sound good to me. -

are you THAT analyst or perhaps Fish? You seem to have a very close hand knowledge of preseason. -
I'm not surprised you asked Hilton to wear gloves before she touched it. Who knows where she's been

Most of the big earners have now left so I would think they won't be now be losing £1m a month.

they feel just like just another south coast team to me, like a Plymouth or a Brighton. Hope we win obviously, but I don't regard it as a Derby.
