  1. why on earth would you not want Pele? He's better at CB than Perry and better at CM than any of the other players we have at the club.
  2. didn't he have more shots than any other player? Someone must have created something. I hope we keep the lad (partly because his replacement will be worse - they alwasy are when you slip down the leagues) because he has a great first touch and offers something a little different. I backed him on here last season against a tidal wave of abuse, but even I have to acknowledge the fact that he is lazy.
  3. I didn't realise McKenna was regarded as one of the best midfielders in the CCC!
  4. Wimbledon had to start much lower than the Blue Square, what has changed since then?
  5. Is that June 12th date a deadline for agreeing a CVA and/or coming out of administration otherwise we face losing further points as Leeds did?
  6. after 20 odd years in the Prem and a few in the CCC I just can't see any signings in League 1 getting Saints fans excited. My hot tip for exampe on the HCDAJFU thread was Danny N'Gussen from Lincoln. He is a young winger available on a free. If we managed to get him, which we won't, do you think many will have heard of him never mind get excited about it.
  7. I'm going to miss his very enthusiastic ramblings whenever he co-commentated on CCC game on 5-live. Best of luck to the guy.
  8. We don't need a left back if Mills stays. I quite like the fella Liam Trotter who has yet to leave Ipswich but is out of contract in the summer.
  9. Brighton apart.
  10. the young Welsh Internatinal who has got a host of games for Man City in the Premiership this season? Not very realistic.
  11. when he says talking to out of contract players does he mean Davis et al or players that were at other clubs? I hope the latter as it shows that there is some sort of scouting systerm behind the scenes even if it is filled by people that don't seem to be able to differentiate between their arse and elbow.
  12. He had already earned a fortune, but he still looked for another pay day with his testimonial game. Legend, pah, he only stayed cos no one else wanted to pay him more than we did.
  13. that's right, despite him playing very well in the first half of the season Pearson extended Wright's loan period even after Davis' broken finger had recovered - this at a time when we could have done without spending yet more money on loanees. Mind you he has had another good season and he will have been watched just like a lot of other soon to be out of contract players. Forrest need a keeper by the way.
  14. bearing in mind we will (hopefully) be starting next season in League 1 on -10 points I think I would bust a gut to keep Davis, Saeijs, James, Mills, Lallana and Surman. I realise that opinjons will differ abtu these but rest assured if they leave the replacements WILL be worse.
  15. its quite a drop from the Prem to league 1 though.
  16. shhhhh, the Saints Trust may have sneaked them up without anyone looking
  17. why is Marchwood not worth much to a developer? As I understood it because changing rooms wtc have been built it moves from being a greenfield site to a brownfield site making it a lot easier to get planning permission for future development.
  18. actually Bates paid just £1.8m for Leeds or 14p in the pound to the creditors who amounted to £13m. He waivered the £17m of debt his own company was owed by LUFC (only if his offer won) otherwise it would have worked out at just 7p in the pound. Teh administrator cost £885,000 for that deal. Yikes!
  19. From Readings point of view Murty is past it, Lita on a huge wage and a troublemaker, Bennett not good enough, likewise Dubery. I guess Hanneman is a big wage earner and they are cutting their cloth accordingly as we all kn ow there is a big difference between the incomes in the two divisions. Lita would be amazing but well out of our league. I still think he could do a job in the Premiership.
  20. that fella at Peterborough has a few bob and has spent it as well.
  21. if you buy a club on the cheap that has potentially 30k plus crowds if you get to the premierhip then there is a possibility of making money. Mandric sold PFC for about £50m. I know he spent money buying the club and then money on players and their wages, but he came out all right thank you very much. If the new owner buys Saints for £8m then spends say £15m to get us into the Premiership then the SKY money alone at £60m a season could quickly pay off the money spent by the owner. Of course the club would also be worth a lot more than £8m in hte premiership. You can therefore make money, but, and its a big but, you need to buy at the right price, bring he right people into the club and get the side up to the top flight pretty quickly. There are certainly no guarentees of that, but as Peterborough and countless others have shown money talks.
  22. whenever I see `property developer' as an interested party that is what crosses my mind.
  23. I wonder how interested the two clubs will be when they are faced with having to fork out what SFC values the two for.
  24. I thought the council hadn't even got close to making a decision on whether they woud try to buy the stadium.
  25. I presum he has a rolling contract as reserve team boss for the next 12 months, anyone know what sort of contract he has as manager? Wonder if he got a wage rise when he stepped up? I wonder if he was earning more than Jan even as reserve team boss?
