Rasiak will be a free transfer...if we are lucky any move will happen towards the start of the transfer window and not at the very end.
-
Grayson dropped down a league to manage Leeds. Size and real ambition of a club counts for a lot.
-
Plan A - sell SLH and all its parts as one lot Plan B - liquidate the assets, selling individual parts to separate buyers

Lallana is top quality IMO, but certainly not worth £5m...one day maybe if he learns to finish.
-
as crap as they have been, don't forget that there are worse players out there so we need to keep a few in case our wonderful scouting system continues to uncover more gems like Holmes, Pulis and Gasmi.
-
and if your company went into adminstration would the customers be expected to make charitable donatations to pay your wages? The players are in a privaledged position and no matter how big the house is at £10k a week, they CAN afford to miss a few weeks pay to ensure the cash cows continues to live.
-
is this just a rumour or fact? The response above from Surman suggests that no players had forgone their wages. I've said it before and I will say it again there is no chance of me donating any money to pay the likes of Rudi Skacel.

several members of the crowd invasion jumped into the Burnley section and they weren't looking to shake hands or swap scarves. The police quite rightly were protecting the Burley fans so stop moaning about their tactics.
-
yeah that 20 year in his first full season needs to be hung drawn and quartered for playing so poorly after a serous ankle injury...jeez
-
likewise. I thought he was excelletn at fullback. Still the best defensive headerer of a ball I have ever seen.
-
great news, perhaps Watford will take him off our hands sooner rather than later as his wages are going to cripple us all summer.
-
he has had two poor games since he joined and been 9 out of 10 in all the others IMO. I wouod go as far as saying that signing him up next season is more important than signing any other player.
-
is that why you are currently booing Hayden Mullins? I suppose you have got quite close the relegation battle (doom) and those famed great supporters of yours have slated a hard working skate and therefore effectively " stood up and been counted".

It all depends on how much money is available as to whether we can afford to keep Kelvin. The wage bill is going to have to come down massively and his 10k a week is a lot to find - far too much. Also we have far too many keepers on the books (Davis, forecast, Bart, Poke, and Pernecký) so someone has to go. Out of contract players are the easiest to offload, so unless we get a buyer for one of two of the others then Kelvin won't be offered a new deal. We are stuck with Perry as he played enough games to get another year. I'm far from convinced that that is good news but I know I might be in the minority there. I dread to think what his wages are. I bet they are a lot higher than people think. Hay ho. Saeijs is a must if we are to do anything, or we must find someone to replicate his strength, arial prowess and pace. That aint gonna be easy so he would be my choice if there is any funds available to pay a decent wage (assuming he demands one). We are stuck with Thomas. Going down a division will suit him as he is a poor CCC player IMO. Lancashire needs to toughen up otherwise he'll be bullied as badly in League 1 as he was in the CCC. Going down will do him a favour though as he was clearly not up to the task. Skacel has another year on his contract but perhaps even he will settle for less wages if it means he gets a new three year deal. Lets hope so. That will save us another 10k a week. As much as I think he has genuine quality that we desperately need, I won't miss his pathetic diving, poor body language, blaming everyone but himself and just do enough no more attitude. The question is will Mills sign for us or for Scunny? I think we made a major mistake in not playing him the whole season. Also given time will Molyneux prove me/us wrong. He looks a terrible signing so far but time is on his side. James needs to improve his heading and positional play. He's never going to be quick so we desperately need a quick centre back to help him and the rest of the back four. Thomas to provide cover perhaps? I've always seen James as a CM but with no other right backs I'm gonna have to get used to see him waddle no where near a byeline. Gillett is here to stay and thats good news. I contiually said we needed his `hussle'. He lacks quality, his first touch is poor and passing no better but we need bite with legs and Wotton only offers bite. Wotton desperately needs the drop down in league, but he will still be a very average player that is slow and can't pass. I don't see him ever getting us promoted. Gobern is the dark horse here. Out wide he looked lost and unsure, in the middle he looked like Carlton Palmer, and Carlton Palmer in League 1 is ****ing good! I'd get him in the side early doors if Gillett is not fit. Surman will leave. He's too good for League 1 no matter what the chumps say on here and his agent surely will step in and force the change. Lallana still needs games and his poor form might help keep him here. I have to say that I think he is top class and I suspect other managers will see that potential and make an offer we can't refuse. I'd build a side round him myself. I think he would be far better than McGoldrick in the hole. Lallana offers skills and heart - what more do you want. OK so he has not done it but it was his first full season and he will get better and better. Promise him the earth and make him stay. Commons gve Forest two years lets get the same from Adam. Where will Pulis play once recovers from the latest injury - any one out there know what he looks like, plays like etc? Dyer will leave for peanuts and we will all have to cross our fingers that he turns out to be a courtney pitt rather than a Rodney Wallace. Smith is painfully weak and I never wanted him here but who knows maybe they don't tackle in league 1! He can take Holmes with him for me. I am not a fan but he will obviously be here next year in nice white boots and socks that never get dirty ever. Still we need balance and his left foot is not bad I suppose (through gritted teeth). IMO Thomson is not good enough (yet) and won't be good enough next season either. McGlaggon has something about him, though I'm not sure if he is a winger or a striker. BWP, Euell and Stern won't get new deals and will leave on frees. That leaves us with McGoldrick - who I don't think clubs will be biting our hands off for if I'm honest, and Patterson - who I think will be a revelation for Saints. Saga looks like he will do anything to get out of here which will save us yet more big bucks. I've never been a fan but I will sure miss those scoring streaks, if I can remember them. Of course Rasiak might be back to bleed us dry. In fact we know he will be back for the entire summer before a CCC side takes him off our hands for nothing just as the window closes saing them a small fortune in wages. To progress as a club we need to sell him the day the window opens not the day it closes. £15k a week for 16 weeks will kill us and our chances. Forecast James Perry Saeijs Mills Lallana Gobern Gillet Holmes Patterson McClaggan On another day I'll tell you who we should look to sign but as I started of saying this will depend on monies available and if we can offload the likes of Rasiak/Saga/Skacel early.

whatever the price I'd like to see cup games included.
-
I'd of thought the league would have something to say about that and we'd not be allowed to go into the transfer market until they were all paid. In addition if we fail to pay players they could walk away from their contracts. "So what" I hear you say but I'd like us to recieve at leats a few biob for Lallana, Surman etc should they leave this summer.

like his passion and feel sorry for him with regards to the lack of talent/options he has to work with. However, I don't understand his team selections, hate the style of football we have had to suffer since he took charge and wonder if he has any other Saeijs' up his sleeve to improve the squad next season. If history is anything to go by then I have serious concerns about our knowledge of available and suitable talent to look to bring in during the summer. The `acquisitions' made last year such as Wotton, Holmes, Peckard, Smith, Molyneux...the list goes on and on...were woeful. I have little doubt the same clueless idots will be making similar recommendations to Wotte this summer unless they are all sacked as well (whoever they were).

surely retention of SMS is a formality. It can't be used by anyone else for anything else really and if it was knocked down and the land sold to developers how much would that land be worth - hardly anything in comparison to the £24M outstanding on the mortgage. In my opinion AVIVA are going to do everything in their power to restucture (or even reduce) the mortgage to suit any new owner and every man and his dog knows this. I don't think the council has made any statements suggesting they would step in if required.
-
good point. Playing the slowest footballer in the world - Wotton - on his own in central midfield whilst McGoldrick is allowed to play in the hole behind the two strikers just is incomprehensible.
-
Perry is a negative in my eyes. He is slow, struggles to win headers from standing starts (like Baird he is decent with a sizeable run up but you don't get that all the time) and is absolutely appauling on the ball. Some of his offside attempts are woeful. I do like how he nips in and also gets tight, I totally support his effort and determination, but the reason he is sliding on his arse all the time is because he is making desperate last gasp blocks because he is not quick/good enough to stay on his feet to win the ball. Looking at the back four as a whole we have further problems because James is very poor in the air and Skacel does the absolute bare minimum in games in my eyes. When does he ever get the centre backs out of jail? He looks after himself and thats it.
-
Inconsistent yes, but for periods in those two years he has been good. He's not playing well at the moment I grant you, but why on earth would you write off a 22 year old midfielder that quite clearly has ability? How long did you give BT to find his feet I wonder (probably no time at all alogn with Fuller, Jones etc.) BT didn't set the world alight until his mid twenties. As previous posters have already said, some of you are far too critical. Surman is going to improve with age and he is exactly the sort of player I want to watch at Southampton.

There is not a chance in hell of me putting money into a bucket to pay Rudi Skacel's wages. Until I read on the official website that all senior players have not been paid/taken a wage cut/taken a wage holiday etc. then they can do one. Why would any man on the street even consider handing over their hard earned to effectively ensure Wayne Thomas gets his £8k a week?
-
do you mean which players are most to blame?
-
absolutely gutted. No matter how unrealistic it was that we would win the next two games and survive AND not get docked points the reality still hits you hard. Gutted.
