  1. Very good post this and the may well be negotiations between those two parties to allow SFC to effectively remortgage to pay off the overdraft. However, I'm not so sure AVIVA could play `hardball with Barclays'. As you said AVIVA have more to lose than Barclays so Barclays could say to AVIVA, pay us our £4M or we take the company to admin. AVIVA then faces the prospect of losing perhaps as much as 80% of the £24m they are owed.
  2. he may have dazzled a few with his shiny white boots but his lack of pace, trick or effort to get up and down were all I saw. The only thing I liked about him was the fact he was a left footed player willing to cross the ball rather than keep coming inside or coming back on himself. Having said all that Surman has been so poor in recent weeks that perhaps some competition, any competition can't be a bad thing.
  3. we failed to sign anyone, that is not the same as `staying out of the loan market'.
  4. Basically you get 8 games free as a ST holder. There has been a number of promotions this season that removes two of those `free' games. So ST holders have ended up getting 6 games for free this season. That still seems decent value but were two games live on TV? Not the same I know but all the same you could say that ST holders got just 4 games for free. But as all ST holder know there is always illness, weddings, work, crisis, holiday etc that get in the way so you end up missing games that you have paid for. Buying a ST is getting less appealing with every line I type...
  5. tell me more. They both remind me of chocolate fireguards.
  6. Who scouted these players. They should be sacked. I'm sure I could do a better job, no I'm certain I could. I wonder what delights are in store for us next summer or will we be returning to the youngsters like Gobern and Thomson.
  7. Holmes is on a par with Smith. Both extremely average to say the least.
  8. any non season ticket holder that has been to more than 10 home games deserves a bloody medal in my book.
  9. he might do a job at center back with a pacey player alongside him but I get the feeling he would look very exposed out wide.
  10. why on earth did we sign a player with a broken foot? Complete stupidity and I said so at the time. Are Stoke still going to pay his wages seeing as its the same injury?
  11. I like you have seen very little of Liptak, but what I have seen of him he is a giant cumbersom CB and I wouldn't want him at full back
  12. I quite liked Gobern as a DM. He gets about the pitch and gets stuck in as well.
  13. you've missed nothing. Far too slow and talentless to play at this level and thats why Plymouth got rid.
  14. Huge loss. Along with Saeijs, Gillett has been our best performer in recent weeks. He has basically been covering the whole of the centre midfield on his own. Losing him is going to upset the whole balance of the side. I think Wotte needs to rethink the centre of midfield as neither Wotton nor Schneiderlin are capable of doing the same job. I think having McGoldrick at the head of the diamond is going to have to go.
  15. interesting because when ever I saw him he was a lightweight slow passenger. James ran the midfield in that side.
  16. a clever way of reducing ticket prices without needing to offer lower prices for away fans. Could someone please list all the promotions that have been run this season. I'd like to calculate exactly how much my season ticket saved me over the course of the season because when it comes down to it that is the only reason for one.
  17. I agree with all of that. I think people need to cut Lallana and Surman a bit more slack. Surman has been way off his best recently but overall he has played well especially when first moved back to left midfield. I am not sure if he is quite good enough yet to play centre midfield but with Gillett behind him rather than say Schneidelin he might be worth another look. He certainly works harder than McGoldrick who does not do nearly enough in that head of the diamond position. Lallana was a revelation at the start of the season when played where McGoldrick is now. When moved out wide he was less effective and the injury seems to have set him back miles. He does not look fit at all and out wide he is totally wasted. He does not have the pace required to hurt defenders but if played in the Totti role where he sees the ball all the time he will prove a tremendous asset.
  18. I forgot Dyer will be coming back. If he is on 5k a week thats £60k to cover his wages for the summer alone not to mention Rasiak and Skacel who inevitably will leave on the last day of the window. Even if we survive ST income is going to go down so I think that pretty much guarentees that Euell and BWP won't be offered contracts. I fear that tough decsions on Perry and Davis WILL have to be made. If we are relegated the board are going to have to gamble that Forecast and Lancashire will hold their own at that level - and they might be right.
  19. I'd much prefer we let Holmes go than Surman. Holmes is rubbish, he lacks pace, an engine, doesn;t tackle, doesn't track back. Surman, despite some poor recent showing has had a very good season IMO and is progressing nicely. Can't make my mind up about Dyer. He's still young and very pacey but I have seen him for Swansea and he hasn't been that different to what we have seen him do here. Lots of dribbles that end up with him running straight into fullbacks and losing it. He's also very similar to McClaggon.
  20. small chance of Smith playing, if on loan Turner is injured, perhaps the stage is set from him. On the other hand Notts County old boy McGoldrick might do the honours for us.
  21. You were talking about £5M being shaved off last season wage bill and therefore I was pointing out that despite this there were still quite a few big earners still at the club this season. As for next season we get Rasiak back and if we go down we lose a shed load of gate revenue not to mention miss out on the limited, but still significant, TV money. That is going to dictate whether we can sign Davis, Saeijs, Euell etc on new deals. Looking at what happened last summer, Lowe let every out of contract player on a decent wage go apart from the much needed Perry. Surely he can't do the same this summer (after it was proved experienced pros with quality are needed to win games), but hands may be tied financially. In other words unless Euell, BWP and Davis take cuts we will have to wave them goodbye. For the record I'd let Smith go and I think BWP needs a change of scene (for his sake) even though I think he has ability and the pace we need up front. I'm not a big Perry fan and if Thomas is back then maybe he could be let go (so long as Saeijs signs) and I've backed Euell and Davis since day 1 - but if all left it would not be hard to know why - money. BTW I thought Surman had just got England U21 caps under his belt before signing a new deal. Make no mistake he will have been given a very decent wage to keep him here, perhaps in line with the other top earners at the club.
  22. Euell, Skacel, Rasiak, John, BWP, Thomas, Davis, Perry, Saga and maybe Surman are all on a fair whack I should imagine.
  23. yeah, how dare anyone suggest your beloved Skacel is overpaid.
  24. can you point me to these articles as I have not seen them. I'd ery much like the right kind of ammunitiion when I next argue with skate mates. I'm told Poopey have about 15 players out of contract in the summer so that suggests to me they won't have a problem. Its long term high wage earners that kill a club, that and relegation.
  25. as much as I'd like to believe you this is utter drivel. Firstly I seriously doubt that Storrie would admit to fans that they were in the **** and the gig was close to being up. But, and its a big BUT, if he did then why has one of the 100 or so Poopey fans that attended not made these statements public via their own web forums?
