I don't want us to come across as flash and Chelsea/Man City-like in our spending, but then again Fulham did the same thing many years ago and no looks at them that way now. Mind you their excessive spending left them in a hole when the funds dried up and they have done well to survive. I'm also slightly concerned that Pardew appears (and I realise I don't know what is happening behind the scenes) to be going for the big chequebook, buy from the division above approach in this window and has shown little in the way of scouting in league 2 or below. Unless of course there are no top talent available down there.

saint_steve suggests he an attacking midfielder. Who's right?
-
strange as I see both Morgan and Hammond as better pushing on than holding. Danns likes to attack as well so you just wonder where the more defensive midfielder is.
-
I notice Aberdeen players helped staff and local businesses to clear snow and ice at Pittodre. Any chance we'll see the Pompey first team helping out?
-
just out of interest, was the facebook conversation on Stock's wall or within the backroom section? I mean its hardly private if all friends can see it.
-
did the thread contravene the forum rules in any way? Is there any legal reason why it could nto be posted?

Absolutely spot on. The only thing I could add is that Pardew may ask him to deliver early rather than attempt to get to the byeline. Either way your reasons why are accurate.

when we played he 4-3-3- last season James didn't have one in front of him and boy was he exposed and he got burned a few times that lead directly to goals. Its always going to be tough as a full back if you don't have a midfielder tracking their runners. 2 v 1 on numerous occasions last season. Not nearly as bad this season as Waigo has tracked back ever so well when we have played 4-3-3.

is it possible to lend PFC money and become a creditor without actually handing them any cash?

bet cheese is your weakness.

I'd prefer a right footer myself.

I've not seen him play (despite thinking I had) and the youtube video of his goals leaves me feeling a little flat. Quite a few pens (none of which go in the corner) and a lot of two yard tap ins against league 2 sides. He does look very pacey though and there are one or two goals where he shows great positonal play and determinism. What's his all round game like? First touch, work rate, movement etc?
-
Pericard has been doing well at Carlise - so much so that they offered him a new deal, so it can't be him. It's Ward.
-
no pace, seems to bottle tackles, and is crap in the air. Great on the ball, lots of composure, decent passer, puts in the some great crosses allbeit from too deep. Great utility player. Can we do better at right back?
-
I'm a massive fan as well. I saw everything I needed to see at the Majeski last season and I thought we should have played him all of last season. I've got no complaints that he has not got games this season as Lambert is almost undroppable, but even so I'd of liked to have seen him given a second chance by Pardew after the poor showing against Brentford. I think a lot of Saints fans saw that game and wrote him off, which surprises me seeing as he was outstanding in the opener against Millwall. Was he injured, that's the only reason I can see for not loaning him out. Hopefull he will be on the bench ever week and come on for either Lambert or Connelly.

perhaps AP thinks Pattison can provide the Lambert backup. I personally think he can, thugh I'd not complain if we signed a Jackson or suchlike.
-
no biggy, but if Ward, Danns and Stock are our targets we seem to be collecting central defenders and midfielders. Where's the pacey right back or back up left midfielder? I recall Charlton fans saying AP kept buying players in the same position, never addressing their obvious weaknesses. No complaints about the targets though, they appear to have the quality we need.

Wolves were linked with him last summer and then Brum were linked in a double `swoop' for Mills and Stock. Not Premiership, but in recent times WBA and Reading were linked..again showing that he's a CCC player at least.
-
you suggested he would be a signing or at least that HCDAJFU. I believe Danns was also one you tipped, right?
-
2 seasons regular yes, but CCC top players? Says who?
-
wonder how much he went for, also I wonder how the wages compare. anyone capable of comparing the two in terms of quality?
-
is that a good thing? Is there anything else these days?
-
feels like he was pushed out the door and he wasn't all that fussed about joining us, but we more than matched his wages so that has cheered him up. I hope he falls in love with the club, but at the moment he doesn't strike me as someone that desperately wants to play for us.

There was a rumour that we agreed a fee of £1.5m with Palace, but because the player wanted more wages we lowered the fee to £1.2m and gave him the £300,000 instead. I suppose it doesn't make any difference, but its an extra £2k a week on top of a CCC wage. High wage earners cause a problem should they not work out - you can't get rid of them (see Saga, Thomas...) I hope he hasn't just come here for the money (who am I kidding). Actually what I mean is I hope we paying a similar wage to what Palace's did. Palace wanted the cash, he was gently pushed out the door so hopefully we haven't had to pay a premium to get him to drop down a division. I know we have billionaire owners, but we should always keep in mind what has happened down the road.
