As much as I like Murty my concern is the lack of pace at teh back. Perry has gone in my opinion. He costs us goals with his lack of height and pace. Murty suffers from the same lack of height and pace so I worry about us being able to handle set peices. Mind you if Murty wins headers like Dodd and Telfer did then I'll be happy with that. Seijs is a must as is development from Lancashire. On the left Mills signing is a must but he'll need cover if Molyneux leaves - is he really leaving? The entire midfield needs looking at. I don't rate Holmes or Thomson out wide. Both are lightweight and neither is going to actually scare defenders. They will hold an end up perhaps but we need the best wide men in the division. Players that are going to be lively and threatening ensuring opposing fullbacks never cross the half way line. These two are not that. In the middle the Gillett/Schneiderlin partnership offers absolutely nothing going forward. In reserve we have Pulis and Wotton so that sounds like four `holding' midfielders to me. We need a box to box man, if not two and some goals. Lallana could offer an option in the hole but I don't want to see that crap diamond formation where Gillet ends up having to handle all four opposing midfielders. Up front we need some pace badly. Stern and Rasiak offer the fox in the box statuesque style striker but we want someone that is going to scare the living **** out of defenders and that means a combination of pace and power.

I agree. He is a long way from being ready for the Premiership and a long (and by that I mean playing lots of games) season with us in League 1 would not do him any harm at all. Commons' prospects and status were not harmed at all by his stint in League 1 and the same would apply to Lallana. It seems like a backwards step but in actual fact his development will prosper as Mills, Monk and many other young players have done when stepping down a DIV.

read his post, its shows a lack of knowledge from start to finish IMO.

so what. We got relegated. Was Davis poor last season?
-
If he is still on the baord does that not mean that one company would have vested interests in both Man City AND Portsmouth. Is that allowed?
-
skate mate tells me that Peter Tells Stories is in Paris trying to convince Roberto Mancini to become their next manager so therefore the deal must still be on. I'm convinced. Honest.
-
I honestly thought you were going to say `and he was one of them.' You should have.
-
amen. I didn't know about the heart trouble, can you expand?

Personally I'd like to see Perry removed from the first 11. He is incredibly slow and pretty poor in the air. His positonal play is first class, as is his effort, but if we want to move forward I think the time has come to improve in this area.

not all players reach their peak at 18 or 19 you know, and central defenders are renown for being ****e in their early years. Rio Ferdinand made error after error in his early years at West Ham. I'm not saying Lancashire will male it, but he is very composed and is quick enough. he has a lot to learn but lets not hound him out just yet shall we.

Lita, what a signing that would be be. Far far too good for League 1 IMO. Always thought Webber was dcent as well. We need pace up front.

who has been generally pretty average of Brum for the last three seasons.
-
agreed but many many players come good slightly later in their careers. poor shooting yes, but passing and heading he's more than capable. I'm clearly wasting my time, I rate him highly as do others on here but as with all players their will always be differing opinions. I hope he stays but if he wants out then there is little more to say. I only give a **** about the careers of Saints players, once they leave they are dead to me.
-
he was usually 9 or 10 out of 10. Sign him up.

have a bit of patience and you might see a great player devlop before your eyes. Some of you lot just will never learn. Young players need time and plenty of leeway. If he wants to leave then so be it, but until he has gone it might be an idea to just cut him and all the other developing youngsters a little more slack. If you can't spot his potential then quite frankly I doubt you never will be able to spot potential.

What a goal. Massive smile on my face. Boy do I hate Liverpool.

as we went 4th in the table. What a day that was. Omerods goal...what absolute ****ing joy that was. I even managed to collect my car without having to pay the scouce urchins their protection money.

I bashed Skacel for being a diving cheater, who was lazy, doing the absolute bare minimum in games - I will never forget the incident at Reading where he shrugged his shoulders at the idea of tracking his man, having a very poor engine (running out of steam afetr 60 minutes) and being very poor value for money. He had a very good first touch and offered a little bit of class, but not nearly enough for the hero worship and crowd waving that followed. We will miss his professionalism (being `fouled' going for header, or bumped in the back) but I won't miss his cheating. Lallana is all about potential. One season (well not even that) and he already looked the nuts. He has a great first touch, real confidence and ability on the ball and in time he will become a very good player. You have to remember that he suffered a band ankle knock and that set him back a long way. He struggled when he came back and the wide right role did not suit him at all. He needs to see the ball all the time. Each to his own but I know which player I wanted to see in a Saints shirt this season coming.
-
lose Lallana. Replace with ****e. Thats what happens in the lower leagues. He's a class act and we must do everything we can to keep him.
-
I hope ML will be more hands on than is being indictaed on here. We desperately need strong powerful leadership and it is ML that has demonstrated that (I assume he nust have to have made all that wedge) not AO.
-
very dissapointed about this. I'd hoped he would give us one more season - Commons did for Forrest, two in fact - and now I wonder who is worth watching at the club. A season of Wotton, Gillett, etc doesn't inspire me. Yet more quality we won't be able to replace...
-
it says he is not going to do media rounds until August, by which time he hopes to have management (at all levels) teams in place. I hope a few players are bought between now and then. Still if it means he is working hard and not talking ****e in the media good on him.
-
is he in town? Can't wait to hear from him and find out where we stand regarding debts/mortage and most importntly future budget/expectations/hopes/manager/players...
