  1. Huge loss. Along with Saeijs, Gillett has been our best performer in recent weeks. He has basically been covering the whole of the centre midfield on his own. Losing him is going to upset the whole balance of the side. I think Wotte needs to rethink the centre of midfield as neither Wotton nor Schneiderlin are capable of doing the same job. I think having McGoldrick at the head of the diamond is going to have to go.
  2. interesting because when ever I saw him he was a lightweight slow passenger. James ran the midfield in that side.
  3. a clever way of reducing ticket prices without needing to offer lower prices for away fans. Could someone please list all the promotions that have been run this season. I'd like to calculate exactly how much my season ticket saved me over the course of the season because when it comes down to it that is the only reason for one.
  4. I agree with all of that. I think people need to cut Lallana and Surman a bit more slack. Surman has been way off his best recently but overall he has played well especially when first moved back to left midfield. I am not sure if he is quite good enough yet to play centre midfield but with Gillett behind him rather than say Schneidelin he might be worth another look. He certainly works harder than McGoldrick who does not do nearly enough in that head of the diamond position. Lallana was a revelation at the start of the season when played where McGoldrick is now. When moved out wide he was less effective and the injury seems to have set him back miles. He does not look fit at all and out wide he is totally wasted. He does not have the pace required to hurt defenders but if played in the Totti role where he sees the ball all the time he will prove a tremendous asset.
  5. I forgot Dyer will be coming back. If he is on 5k a week thats £60k to cover his wages for the summer alone not to mention Rasiak and Skacel who inevitably will leave on the last day of the window. Even if we survive ST income is going to go down so I think that pretty much guarentees that Euell and BWP won't be offered contracts. I fear that tough decsions on Perry and Davis WILL have to be made. If we are relegated the board are going to have to gamble that Forecast and Lancashire will hold their own at that level - and they might be right.
  6. I'd much prefer we let Holmes go than Surman. Holmes is rubbish, he lacks pace, an engine, doesn;t tackle, doesn't track back. Surman, despite some poor recent showing has had a very good season IMO and is progressing nicely. Can't make my mind up about Dyer. He's still young and very pacey but I have seen him for Swansea and he hasn't been that different to what we have seen him do here. Lots of dribbles that end up with him running straight into fullbacks and losing it. He's also very similar to McClaggon.
  7. small chance of Smith playing, if on loan Turner is injured, perhaps the stage is set from him. On the other hand Notts County old boy McGoldrick might do the honours for us.
  8. You were talking about £5M being shaved off last season wage bill and therefore I was pointing out that despite this there were still quite a few big earners still at the club this season. As for next season we get Rasiak back and if we go down we lose a shed load of gate revenue not to mention miss out on the limited, but still significant, TV money. That is going to dictate whether we can sign Davis, Saeijs, Euell etc on new deals. Looking at what happened last summer, Lowe let every out of contract player on a decent wage go apart from the much needed Perry. Surely he can't do the same this summer (after it was proved experienced pros with quality are needed to win games), but hands may be tied financially. In other words unless Euell, BWP and Davis take cuts we will have to wave them goodbye. For the record I'd let Smith go and I think BWP needs a change of scene (for his sake) even though I think he has ability and the pace we need up front. I'm not a big Perry fan and if Thomas is back then maybe he could be let go (so long as Saeijs signs) and I've backed Euell and Davis since day 1 - but if all left it would not be hard to know why - money. BTW I thought Surman had just got England U21 caps under his belt before signing a new deal. Make no mistake he will have been given a very decent wage to keep him here, perhaps in line with the other top earners at the club.
  9. Euell, Skacel, Rasiak, John, BWP, Thomas, Davis, Perry, Saga and maybe Surman are all on a fair whack I should imagine.
  10. yeah, how dare anyone suggest your beloved Skacel is overpaid.
  11. can you point me to these articles as I have not seen them. I'd ery much like the right kind of ammunitiion when I next argue with skate mates. I'm told Poopey have about 15 players out of contract in the summer so that suggests to me they won't have a problem. Its long term high wage earners that kill a club, that and relegation.
  12. as much as I'd like to believe you this is utter drivel. Firstly I seriously doubt that Storrie would admit to fans that they were in the **** and the gig was close to being up. But, and its a big BUT, if he did then why has one of the 100 or so Poopey fans that attended not made these statements public via their own web forums?
  13. if your main issue with David is that he is picked every week why call him a sack of ****?
  14. The FA Cup was damaged on the one day that it was not in PFC's posession. E.ON had it on on a promotional day and it was damaged then.
  15. Wotte mentioned that the club is already in negotiations with players at the club who's contracts are up at the end of the season. He states that final decisions will be based on what league we are in. Just wondered if the league we are in effected peoples perception as to which players we should try to retain - which will depend on them wanting to sign and us beign able to afford them. Kelvin Davis seems a no brainer but what about the others? Poke Perry Svensson BWP Stern John Euell Jamie Hatch Lloyd James Jake Thomson Ryan Smith Jack Boyle Joseph Mills Jeffrey Imudia Andrej Pernecky Jamie White Michael Byrne And will we be able to sign Saeijs on a permanent deal? What's more are we looking to sign oput opf contract players fromother clubs because now is the time to start talking to them of we haven't already.
  16. Why tar him with Lowe's dirty brush or does this relate back to the slagging of fans that you remarked on ealier in the thread? mid table Championship side next year would be OK wouldn't it based on the fact we will probably have even less money to play with than we did this?
  17. so he was part of the play the youth policy, but did he choose that policy? When given charge of the decision he changed the policy having seen it doesn't work. I'm not sure I can give him stick for other of those things. I have to say though that the football has ben pretty unatractive since he took charge, but certainly more effective than the last few months of JP's tenure.
  18. it's blatently obvious that they have tried to bring someone in but they have been unable to afford the right calibre. The players they could afford are not better than what we have.
  19. Can you explain what you mean by slagging the fans? Does this have something to do with him suggesting non attending fans don't help the club avoid relegation?
  20. to be fair to JP he never made excuses or blamed the poor quality of his squad. I think that was his most redeeming feature - he simply refused tio hide behind the fact he was dealt a poor hand and er, his hands were clearly tied.
  21. if an administrator is put in place would the board/executive level employees be effectively out of a job. In other words, do they (Lowe etc) get paid to run the club when effectively someone else is doing it for them?
  22. and how many people would be required?
  23. I guess it's a `how long is a peice of string' type question, but how much are we talking here to pay the administrator? £10,000, £50,000, £100,000, £250,000?
  24. the loan deal with Forest was all but signed and then Wolves offered him the possibility of Premiership football next season should he do well and they go up. We could not match that never mind the obscene wages he would demand.
